We've had a delightful week of weather here in New England after some wild storms last weekend. I hope everyone is doing well. My 96YO mother finally went home today after 5+ weeks in the hospital and rehab. I'll go visit her in a few weeks again.
I finished listening to Project Hail Mary which is why I moved onto all the audio short stories. I loved it as much as I did reading the physical book. I cannot wait to see the movie too.
This week I finished three short stories on audiobook. One was a repeat, Catch Her in a Lie. It was one of the best short stories I read, last summer. I liked it enough to read the first book in Jess Lourey's series (Reed & Steinbeck). Having completed the first book and knowing the characters better, I went back to this story, considered book 0.5.
I also listened to The Last Conversation and Randomize. They were the last two short stories in the Forward collection. They were both better than average for short stories. They told a complete story and were enjoyable and memorable. Andy Weir definitely writes to my nerdy style, even with short stories.
I was listening to short stories to wait for neighborhood book club to meet this week to decide our October book. I'll be getting that on audiobook soon.
I'm reading a library book You Are Not Broken: Stop "Should-ing" All Over Your Sex Life that was recommended in a menopause group I'm in. It is excellent so far, but not really about menopause specifically although it does touch on what changes in a female's body due to it. I'm going to recommend my daughters and daughter-in-law get a copy and read it.
QOTW:
The year is about 75% complete. Are you on track for any goals you have, or challenges you're doing? Or ahead or behind?
I doubled my book goal this year because I knew I had a lot of cross-country travel this year and that the short stories I listen to all count on GR. Last year the short stories made me go far past my goal. This year I am on track, maybe just slightly ahead.
I am doing the book nerds challenge on StoryGraph. I didn't set a specific goal for that challenge. I fill in as many prompts as any book covers (i.e. I double-dip or even triple-dip). I am on GR much more than StoryGraph so I tend to bunch up a set of completions and then go fill out the challenge.
