I plan on reading Ban This Book by Alan Gratz, a fiction surrounding a young girl fighting against her school's book bans by starting her own banned book locker library! And, of course, it's on the banned list in real life in at least one school district in .....
My choices are Mythago Wood and Anthill.Well I completed changed my choices for this, to Out of My Mind and Cloud Atlas. I was just looking at my shelves last night and noticed that I have another book that would fit, Growing Up Human: The Evolution of Childhood (I decided subtitles don't count).
Pachinko was first published in 2017, so finally I will get around to reading it. I'm also planning on Faithful for my published in 2016 book.
I plan to read The Black Friar by S.G. MacLean, which is Book 2 in the Hangman’s Daughter series that’s been on my tbr mountain for ages.
Damnation Spring by Ash Davidson has been on my TBR since it's publication date. It's on list of 52 prompts every year but keeps getting moved for something I want to read more. Maybe 2025 will be the year.
I was so impressed with myself because I thought I had a nice long title that fit The Library at Mount Char, somehow missing the 'e' in the very first word there - d'oh!Back to the drawing board for this one.
ETA: Now looking at Hunting by Stars
I like this prompt the first time through.Galahad at Blandings - P.G. Wodehouse
North Woods - Daniel Mason
Martyr! - [author:Kaveh Akbar|15957484
I've been trying to get around to Tin Man by Sarah Winman for years, but it never seems to fit anywhere, so I'm happy to find a place for it at last.
Some ideas: Moscow 2042, Kairos, Pastoral, Orbital, Playground, Cantoras, A History of Burning (Also - Debut, Dayton Lit Prize (prompt that didn't make it, Haunting, Fire?)

Martyr! - Kaveh Akbar for a different prompt, I might make my way through all the Blandings books as well...

-Sick Puppy by Carl Hiaasem
-Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Warlight by Michael OndaatjeA Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult
Night by Elie Wiesel
Sag Harbor by Colson Whitehead
Hang the Moon by Jeannette Walls
Snow Blind by P.J. Tracy
I read All Grown Up and Christodora. All Grown Up was the second book I'd read by Jami Attenberg, and I had the same reaction to it as to my earlier read - nothing wrong with the writing, but it failed to make much impression on me.
I did enjoy Christodora despite its subject matter, once I'd got used to the jumping between time lines.
I read Sandwich by Catherine Newman. This is the second book of hers I've read this year. My IRL book group read her We All Want Impossible Things, and I didn't realize at the time that she was also the author of Sandwich. I was very happy when I figured out that she wrote both books. I love her style — she uses very real, human humor while writing about what could be a heavy topic. This book doesn't have stellar ratings (3.62 as I write this), but I rated it 5 stars! Maybe not my TOP 5 stars, but still... It may not be appreciated by readers who want a LOT of plot, but those who lover character driven stories may enjoy this as much as I did. Any book that can make you laugh and cry is usually something I enjoy.
I am planning on reading Fight Night by Miriam Toews for this prompt. She is a new author for me, but she comes highly recommended.
I read:
Strong Poison by Dorothy L. SayersREJECT: A book with a trial
Finished: 05/10/2025
Rating: 4 stars
Lord Peter Wimsey is a delight. Can't go wrong with Sayers.
