Good choice, Nike - I hadn't thought of that book. I read it 3 years ago & didn't like it at all as I found it very strange compared with anything I had read before. Perhaps I should try it again...

Nice quote, Vit - I hadn’t thought of that. Countdown here is a television quiz which has been popular for many years.Nike, we like similar books. I thought Fahrenheit 451 was wonderful! But it was the first book by Ray Bradbury that I read, so his other books have disappointed me by comparison.

Possible things to read - Since I just started reading Les Miserables I do not want to commit to any other big works. I went through the 6 short story anthologies I have at home and found at least 8 short stories, of various genres, that have a numeral in the title.

Interesting choices, Shaina.Vicky, I may try your play. I didn’t realise Conrad had written any plays. My first experience of his books was (a long time ago!) at school when forced to read The Rover & study it in very boring detail. But I’ve read some of his other books since joining Goodreads & like them so perhaps it’s time to try this one too.

I have been looking at our year-long genre challenge. I wanted some fresh ideas about types of genres. After looking at a few websites I decided to read some Modernist Literature. I love short stories so will be reading those. The authors on the list that grabbed my interest include James Joyce Katherine Mansfield , F. Scott Fitzgerald , Jorge Luis Borges , William Faulkner , and D.H. Lawrence. Also Virginia Woolf wrote essays that could fit this idea.
I bet I can find some stories that have a number in the title.

I managed to read one book for the challenge.
Thank you to everyone who took part in this challenge, & especially those who offered great recommendations. I read my 3 books (message #12) but still want to finish reading The Two Destinies. I like it but tried to complete too many challenges in July!
During a few weeks I didn't read many pages since I was absorbed by the Olympics. And then I came behind in my reading challenges, so I didn't finish this one on time despite the fact that I thought it was good from the very start. Now, at last I 've finished and am overwhelmed by One Hundred Years of Solitude. Wow, such a reading experience!
