Please help me find this book, here's the plot as my friend remembers it:

it’s this orphan boy and i think it starts out with him being called on by the orphanage's Authority Person and they tell him they found his family and the family shows up and they’re crying their eyes out because they finally found him and they show him a boy that looks just like him but a few years younger (because it’s been a couple of years) in a newspaper article and he KNOWS he’s not that boy but he wants to leave the orphanage so he goes along with it and he’s trying so hard to make sure he’s not found out when the family takes him home and then the original son’s brother comes home from college i think. he might’ve been there all along or smth else im not sure but he’s acting Super Fucking Weird and the kid is nervous around him a lot and towards like the last few chapters the kid finds out the brother killed the original child so he knows he’s lying to stay with them
