MountainKat | 31593 comments I've checked your books through here and all were good.

I realized in the wee hours this morning, that I forgot to check for completions before driving home like I usually do. That is when I assigned your new task. Because you posted your completion on the 22nd, you will be eligible for a new task on the 24th if you are ready. It was my mistake you weren't assigned the new task last evening.

Alina Molotova was told when she was fifteen she was to be forced to wed Alexei Leonov when she became of age. Alina does not want to merge the two mafia families together, she wants her own life and makes a bargain with Alexei to wait, he agrees. What was supposed to be a solid arrangement turns to years of Alexei waiting to claim what is his.

This was good, a cliffhanger though. Fortunately the books are available to carry on with the reading of this intriguing story. Pretty good story, goes back and forth for most of the story so you get the full context of their history. I found myself intrigued by Alexei, great chemistry between the two.

Task 5 ~ #19. Each teammate reads a book another teammate read and rated 4 Stars or higher in the last 3 months. No pass for this task.
Book: Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret
Pages: 177
How it fits: Rated 5 stars by Emily
Finished: 04/23
Rating: 5stars
Review: I don't know why it took me until now to read this, but I absolutely loved it. Margaret is dealing with the same things that we all must deal with at her age. Plus, the added problem of moving to a new place, new school, while also trying to figure out how she wants to proceed spiritually. I loved this for all the things I could relate from when I was a tween, and for that fact that even to this day I can relate to trying to figure out spirituality and religion.

I think this was even more hard for Margaret because she got it from a few different standpoints: her parents who is allowing her to choose when she becomes an adult, her grandmother who is Jewish, and then her other grandparents who are Christian. When I was growing up there was no choice, you attended where your parents attended, no ifs, ans, or buts. As I got older I started to question because I realized there are so many beliefs, which Margaret was exposed to early in her life.

This was endearing and so funny.

I'm sorry but this book does not qualify for this task. You needed to read a book read by a teammate in the last 3 months, rated 4 stars or higher. The only date I see for Emily reading that book is in 2011. 🙁

I am going to assign Task 6 anyway, but this book will need to be made up before I will assign Task 7.

Review: I wanted to like this story, but I was annoyed from the beginning, and I couldn't shake back from that. Hannah is mistaken for her twin sister one night and things happen between her and the hero, so it made me automatically not really like her since she thought the stranger and her sister were together and the situation progressed.

Then her sister is dies.

Years later the stranger, Jackson, wants revenge on Harley and thinks that she has changed her name to Hannah.

I just couldn't get over how this man has all this money and didn't use some of it to do some background searching on Harley. I'm sure after she dies, they buried her with her real name. So, I just couldn't get with him not realizing after all these years that she had a twin sister. As bad as he wants his revenge it seems like he would have done his homework.

Set in a quirky small town, a reformed play boy convinces a sassy lawyer that he is the one she's holding out for. I love the "he falls first trope" and Jesse ticks all the boxes as a supportive, strong and generous partner. Wren too is the perfect combination of alpha and relatable. The way these too fit together as a couple was perfect, the spice was potent, and the divorce proceedings were amusing.
Fav Quote:
This is what I want. A man who wants me, not for the boxes I check, but because I’m a blend of just-right and all-wrong. A man who doesn’t want me to be less and thinks my “too much” is the perfect amount. I thought that wasn’t Jesse, but it turns out I was so wrong. He’s exactly that man. The one who challenges me and isn’t afraid to call me on my bullshit, but also sees that sometimes I need a safe space to crack the strong, independent shell I wear as armor and be taken care of.

One of my all time favorites. I have been thinking of this one for awhle. Tack is in my top 10 for alpha male in a book.

Tyra Masters made a decision a long time ago that when she found the one, that would be her dream man and her life would change forever and in the best way possible. Tyra knows the second she sees Kane "Tack" Allen she knows she has met them and they spend the most intense sexual encounter together, reinforcing her beliefs. That is until he pats her ass and sends her on the way just like any other ordinary hookup. Incensed and humiliated, Tyra can't believe she slept with her new boss who promptly tries to dismiss her, he doesn't sleep where he works and that is crossing a line he doesn't want crossed.

Tack realizes he made he has made a huge mistake when he treated Tyra like any other biker babe and now he wants to show her in every way possible. The problem before him is the fiery tempered women who doesn't want to give him another chance. If he thought it would be an easy road he wouldn't bother, but Tyra is worth all of the intensity and obstacles he faces in order to keep her safe and by his side.

Well I have to say I have a new favorite. Tack is a hot blooded, hot tempered, goateed, tattooed, dynamo of a man. Talk about wanting to curl up with a book and never let go. Even though he crosses the jerk line a few times, he is so deep and true that it keeps your riveted. Utterly remarkable final book in a series, which is a rarity in itself.

Review: I didn't read what the book was about, just saw it was by R.L Mathewson and I've enjoyed some of her books in the past. So, I was thinking it was maybe a single dad romance during the prologue, until I got to chapter 1.

This was almost 5 stars for me because Andi was so funny. She brought a lightness to every scene she was in when it could have been stressful for the people in it with her. I loved that she was intelligent, but not written as perfect. I also liked how seamless the advancement of her relationship with Devyn was.

One star deduction because it was obvious who the person was behind all the nefarious activity, and I think Devyn was willfully blind to it. Also, because I got annoyed with all the "the woman who" this and "the person" that. Just say their freakin names sometimes.

Easton Hayes and Lindy Kingston have a close bond but Easton believes he is the only one who sees their relationship as more than friends. A weekend in Vegas has Easton changes his toon though and he couldn't be more elated.

Lindy wakes up in Vegas with a bubbly Easton by her side and a wedding ring on her finger. Lindy wants an annulment, but Easton is not giving in. Easton does everything in his power to woo his reluctant bride, will he succeed.

This was fun, had some tabloid headlines that were fun to read as the relationship between Easton and Lindy grows. Great chemistry and Easton was my favorite. He was adorable and so protective of Lindy. Highly entertaining.

Carson needs a fake relationship and sees an opportunity in Paige, who is desperate to find a place to live after leaving a toxic relationship. The book was "lite" with the hockey setting. I struggled to like Carson. He used Paige and only admitted feelings for her when she left due to his moodiness and cold shoulder. The depth of their issues could have led to some rich character and/or plot development rather than the immature HEA.

Reread - so many intriguing characters, I could not remember this one. I love the fact that the man on cover is a big ol' bear type.

Damon 'Bear' Jones was not looking for a woman by his side but when he meets Callie Patton he is unsure what to do about it. He gives her a job and watches this woman who has had a tough life blossom. Can Bear be the one to capture Callie's heart and offer her everything she has ever wanted?

This was another great read by this author and new to me author J.C. Belanger. I liked the pacing an dhow this story unfolded. Can't wait to read more in this series.

Review: I had been looking forward to Coop and Elle's story since book 1 of this series. They have been best friends since college, and we finally see how that started and what made them stay in that lane.
I ended up loving Coop and only mildly liking Elle here. He knew what he wanted and didn't act on it initially because of a promise that he made years ago. Now he's at the point where he's ready to put that aside, but at the same time he doesn't want to lose her. Elle is just willfully blind to his feelings and once he's honest she still ends up jeopardizing their friendship that she supposedly valued. I wanted to shake her.
