Shan ~A~ | 1830 comments Do you guys think the body on the cover is visible enough? Cold Terror (Cold Harbor #1) by Susan Sleeman

If not, I'm going to attempt to read Salt & Broom by Sharon Lynn Fisher and get it done on time.

Julie | 856 comments Not sure about Cold Terror but the water is clear on the Salt and Broom cover.

The Girl in the Mist (Misted Pines, #1) by Kristen Ashley The Girl in the Mist

Qualifies: Lake on cover
Date Completed: 9 June
Rating/Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Delphine Larue flees one crazy situation only to find herself in the midst of another. Murder and scandal surround but Delphine's focus doesn't stray far from her neighbours, particularly Cade Bohannan.
This series has a toned down Rock Chick series feel. Delphine is a great character who has "lived". As a result, it was refreshing to read about characters & relationships that are healthy and interesting. I also loved the dynamic between Delphine & Cade, in and out of the bedroom. The suspense side of the book was frustratingly squirrelly, and in the end Cade didn't solve the mystery after the hype about him all book long?
Fav Quote:
“It’s you,” he said to me. “I had her, but all along, I’ve been waiting for you to get to me.”

Dante Frachetti vowed revenge when he finds out his cousin has been shot by a rival crime boss. Finding out the reason for the bullet has him wanting blood, so when his men bring the girl responsible for the whole mess to him he is ready. All is falling into place except they have nabbed the wrong girl.

Regan Daley didn't want to visit her cousin, but her insistence had her flying from Ireland to visit. She never expected to be taken and now she is faced with Dante who has decided to keep her. Dante knows she is the woman meant to be his wife but convincing his fiery beauty is another matter especially when the true reasons she was involved come to light.

Entertaining story. Dante knows what he wants and is not a man to waver on decisions. Regan is thrown into a world she knows nothing about but she quickly learns and becomes the perfect match for Dante. I liked this one quite a bit, eager to read the next book in series.

Shan ~A~ | 1830 comments I am pushing to get my final book done. We ended up going to the movies and out to eat. We were at the restaurant for over 2 hours (most of that waiting for our food to come out). The ended up giving us a 25% discount without us having to say anything, but it completely threw off my day. Especially since we had to commute to get there and then back.

Julie | 856 comments Not to worry Shan~A~. Dinner & movies sounds good despite the excessive wait time. I hope it didn't throw off your movie viewing times. It stresses me out when everything snowballs due to a tight schedule. What did you see?

Book: Salt & Broom
Page Count: 282
Qualifies: River or creek on cover Salt & Broom by Sharon Lynn Fisher
Date Completed: 06/10
Rating: 3.5 stars (rating 3 on goodreads though)
Review: The beginning was pretty slow, and I kept thinking that it just felt like any other Victorian that I've read. Maybe if we'd gotten some background into the witchcraft business.

It did get to a point where things picked up, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't been thinking of it with Jane Eyre in mind. As it was if the characters hadn't had similar or the same names, I probably wouldn't have known it was supposed to be a retelling. I just would have thought of it as a book with similar themes with a paranormal twist.

With that being said I didn't hate it. Once I resolved to make myself stop comparing it to Jane Eyre, which I absolutely loved and had an emotion response to, and just took it at its own merit, I thought it was pretty good.

Luckily, we went to the movies first. I am a matinee girl and plus I don't like being in that particular city at night.

I saw the new Bad Boys movie, but my husband & daughters saw the new Planet of the Apes movie.

Totally agree!

I'm looking forward to finishing PtP and June challenges now. Since I've joined RRRC I've realised what a book challenge addict I am. 😂
