Galaxies and Oceans by N.R. Walker
Book: Galaxies and Oceans
Pages: 318
How it Qualifies: Published June 25, 2018
Read: 4/22
Rating: 4 stars
Review: I've actually owned this book for a while, but I kept putting off reading it. I expected it to be more heart-wrenching than it was - so I avoided it because my heart can't handle much angst anymore. Anyway, it didn't always hold my attention, but overall the book was really good and only a little stressful (I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop).

Love in Spades
Pages: 302
How it Qualifies: Published in the year 2018
Read: 4/21/24
Rating: 5 stars
Review:
I absolutely fell in love with Ace and Colton from the beginning. The way they met for the first time was filled with humor and embarrassment. I liked that even though they both fell early they fought it and came together when they couldn't hold off anymore. The mystery subplot was amazing and final twist was jaw dropping. I am looking forward to reading the book on the other Kings.

Something on the cover. Or set in the country or small town, that's usually easier for me.

I gave it 4 stars, Michaele. It was very cute. I prefer older characters so it was hard at first, for some reason I thought Lady Gogo was older. But I really enjoyed it at the end, I'll pick up the last book in the series soon :)

Glad you liked it, that series is a bit hit and miss for me. Though I'm sad Jay Northcote doesn't seem to be writing anymore.

I have so many feelings over this book, the writing is stunning and grabbed me instantly pulling at my heart strings.

Logan captured me from the start and is so relatable in a lot of his anger, putting on a front to protect himself and he simply deserves all the love.

The care and support Caleb offers, Logan's struggles and disbelief. I look forward to seeing their romance continue into the next, as these two are just getting started 💛

Review: I read the first book in the series, skipped the second one for some reason and jumped to this one. I remembered Charles from the first book, he was Emerson’s bestie from New York. At first, I wasn’t sure Brian and Charles would work together because they’re so different. Once Brian opened up, it was lovely to watch them fall in love even though I felt Brian was such a sad character. I liked that both were in their mid to late 40’s, and I also liked catching up with Sam and Emerson.

Really good start to this series! The plot was a little slow moving at times and the hero took too long to realize what was right in front of him. But overall, enjoyable and I’ll definitely be continuing the series.

I liked both Mal and Luca, but I really loved Mal’s son Otis. The supporting cast and Mal’s family members were all sweet and supportive. I'd love to visit Luca's store.

I have mixed feelings about this book. There was so much time spent on them feeling guilty or not enough for each other when I just wanted to shake them and be like talk to each other. I think the ending really made up for the beginning drag. Definitely left on a cliff hanger for the underlying plot.

I honestly think this book was too short. Once we got over the major hump things were going at lightning speeds and then all of the sudden it was over. I liked how different Teddy and Carlos were but I think there was were things that were never talked about and just brushed over. There is definitely some plot holes that could have been handled differently to give us more. Overall it was a nice book and I feel compelled to read the others in the series.

Blood Brothers
5/5/24
3.5 stars

This was a good start to this trilogy. The three main characters unleashed a "demon" into the world as children and every seven years he comes to wreak havoc on their little town.

But like to many Nora Roberts, it started out really strong, but kind of fizzled throughout. Also it's very, very similar to her Dark Witch trilogy.

Review: I was excited about this book, honestly I was pretty disappointed. I almost always want a book to be alternating POV - this was not, we just get Casey's POV (though the epilogue offers Briar's). The reason I prefer dual POV is because I otherwise feel like we only really get to know one of the characters very well. Oddly, with this book I felt like I didn't really get to know either of them. Briar is lying through most of the book and Casey is pretty obsessed with Briar and trying to figure him out that Casey doesn't reveal much about himself. It's odd, I just felt really disconnected from the characters and the story. I also really dislike when the major plot point is about a lie and you spend most of the book waiting for the truth to be revealed - I just find that stressful.

I enjoyed this book so much, it was those perfect sweet and steamy vibes for me. Also I'm weak for fat rep and Julian had my heart instantly, just adored him and Seamus is wonderful.

For all the location/setting tasks, the book does not have to be solely set in that location; it simply needs at least one scene set there. The usual precise, main page, tag or list will need to be provided to show how the book qualifies.

In this case the following will work:
* the precis includes a reference to the country, ranch, farm etc
* the book is tagged/shelved with an appropriate reference to country, ranch, farm etc
* the book is set in the wilderness/remote areas
* the bookcover shows a country setting.

Please ask if you are not sure.

This started out strong with lots of action right away. I read the first half in just one sitting because it was unputdownable. But then by the middle it started to drag. The heroine was a little TSTL and the ending was very abrupt. I like what I've read previously from this author, but this was not a favorite.

Review: The story overall was very cute, with an enemies-to-lovers theme and small-town fairytale vibe. It was fun to watch Samantha and Travis together. I love that Reg says he wants to read a book where people are nice to each other and Bobby (or his mom?) say that he should read romance - that's what I love about this book and the genre.
