Review: Nancy Drew mysteries are amazing. Someone should really count how many coincidences happen during Nancy's investigations. And Nancy can get hurt, abducted, or chased, and she'll still go to the party at Emerson an hour later.
In this story, Nancy was able to continue sleuthing while babysitting. She is amazing! :D

Review:
This series has a lot of potential to become really good. The series is a crime procedural with magical elements. This book was good, but we are still in that phase when we are learning about the world and not everythis is fully developed yet. In this book the main character is investigating the death of a mucisian. I really like the main character, and the fact that he struggles with magic, that he is not a natural that gets everything the first time he tries it. I liked the mystery part of the book, and the twistes and turns it takes. I will continue on with the series when I get the chance to.

Review
4.5 stars. This 2nd installment in the Rizzoli & Isles did not disappoint! This is a super-fast read and exciting and entertaining the whole time! Jane Rizzoli is on the hunt for another serial killer but this one might have ties to the Surgeon who haunts her from the debut novel of the series. I got lost in this one and enjoyed every page-turning minute!

Just a reminder. The book I read for spot 24 is over 500 pages, so I think there is a bonus point for that...

There is indeed. I've added it to your tally. :)
Please do add a note to that effect to both the individual completion post (so it's easier for your captain to notice) and in the Post Your Spot thread (so it's easier for me to notice). Thank you!

Book: The Coward
Author: Stephen Aryan

Date read: 21/3/24

How it fits: Quest for heroes #1
Review:
I found the premice of this book really interesting. The main character has been on a quest and come home as the only survivor, a winner and a legend. Ten years later, still haunted by his experiences of that quest he is asked to go on a new quest with vely little chance of succes. He is very reluctant to go because he knows the legends are false and he sees himself as a coward that did not deserve the fame. I like how the book shows what effects going on a heroic quest can have on a person. After that it is the typical classic epic fantasy quest story. The book is well written and very enjoyable. It provides a different view of heoes and I found what was going on behind the scenes to be really interesting. I am interested to read more of this author.

Review:
This is a series I’ve had to my TBR shelf for a long time. While I did enjoy this book, I didn’t LOVE it. It’s really 3.5 rounded up. I felt really bad for Izabela; I’m so glad I live in a time when women can make any decision they want. It would have been awful to be expected to marry someone I didn’t love — and then to stay forever. And that mother-in-law was horrible.

I would feel more comfortable if we had the Free Pass. Is there any way we could work towards earning it?
I think I could try to make it next week. I have Easter vacation from Wensday and no plans, so I think I could make my review by the end of Wensday or Saturday. I am just confused about the time diference, since I live in Norway. I will have to look it up. My revew is comming soon.

It's early in the morning on Thursday/Sunday for you - I'm in Finland and it's 7am for me at the moment, I think we're one hour apart. (And then there's the whole switching to summer time mess happening in Europe next Sunday, I believe, which will shift the deadline again... so best double check. *sigh*)

Hi! Sorry I had a busy weekend. I will be finished with my book in about and hour or 2. Lanelle — I will definitely try for the free pass this week with both of my books. This one I’m currently reading was a long one, so there was no way to get it done early. 🙃

Book: House of Many Ways
Author: Diana Wynne Jones

Date read: 24/3/24
How it fits: Howls moving castle #3
Rating: 4 stars
Review: I generally like Dianna Wynne Jones writing style and the whimsical quality she brings to her books. I liked the first book in the series and saw this as an opportunity to read this book. This is a trilogy of companion novels that can be read in the "wrong order". In this book the main character moves to her great uncle's cottage to look after it while he is sick. The house is alomst a character in itself. Its doors leads to different places, and she has no idea what she is gatting herself into. The main character is a grumpy, spoiled person that volunteered helself to get out of her room. She comes from a magical family and there are a lot of secrets and a lot is discovered. I loved the fact that Sophie and Howl are making an appearance. I overall likedthe plot and the main characters. It absolutely met all the expectations I had of a Diana Wynne Jone book.

Review:
This was by a good margin my favorite book in the series so far. Maybe it was because it was about books and writing and loving them both. I can’t pick whose story I liked better — Star’s or Flora’s. I loved Rory and Orlando and Mouse and Archie. It was great to see both women — at different times in history — come into their own and realize their dreams. Very, very good!

This one caught me from the get-go. A murdered nun in a cold, dark chapel is where this begins, and the suspense keeps going. I liked that this focused on Isles, as I needed to get to know her better. This is a series I’m really enjoying.

I really liked this book. I like the character development of the main characters, and I liked the direction the series seems to be going towards. The new characters were good, with interesting back stories and interesting dynamics with the old character. This book was fast paced, and the mystery was good. The series seems to improve with every book.

The story leaves out a lot of details that would make how the children live understandable. But I still enjoy reading them. There must be something about the importance of family, being independent, and finding love and acceptance that appeals to me.

Qualification: 4th in Rizzoli & Isles series
Review:
The 4th installment of the Rizzoli & Isles series was a page turner from start to finish. Dr. Maura Isles finds her identical twin, murdered in front of her house. The bigger twist is that she never knew of her existence. Is this murder somehow connected to her or was it a case of domestic violence gone way wrong — or something far more sinister? Another great, fast read from Tess Gerritsen!

Review:
I really like this series: What makes it great is the characters. The four main characters and the supporting characters are great, and have very interesting dynamics. In this book an antique shop owner is murdered and the gang suspects it is connected to drug dealing. This one was very emotional for me. The character arc of Elisabeth was really sad. There were a lot of twists and turns and I was engaged all the way through the book. I am glad I am caught up with the series at last.
