I enjoyed Detective Zoe Mayer's latest murder investigation with her service dog, Harry, aka The Good Dog. I'm sure he is one of Simon Rowell's most popular characters. What's not to love?
My review of The Good Dog
I like short stories, especially those that have a connection, so I enjoyed Winter Lights by Deborah Jenkins. These take place in Sussex, UK, at Christmastime, with characters ranging from old-money posh to an Indian migrant running a restaurant.
My review of Winter Lights
Started Lonely Vigils by Manly Wade Wellman, a collection of his supernatural detective stories, all written before the Silver John stories, I believe. I intend to dip into this off and on through the year.
Stephen Kings Mr. Mercedes trilogy I’m on #3 End of Watch. it’s so good I get so absorbed in it. I want to read Holly as well but I’m sure if that’s the chronological order yet!

I just finished reading the Mindf*ck Series (5 novellas that are installations of the same story) by S.T. Abby. The heroine is a serial killer avenging trauma wrought on her and her family; the hero is a FBI profiler attempting to identify the killer behind the murders. Both are married exclusively to their missions until they meet by happenstance and become enthralled with one another. Much secrecy and maneuvering ensues as the two become romantically involved and the heroine tries to shield her identity from the hero. I found it to be a read that I blew through because I kept needing to know what happened next.
Currently reading The Silver Bone, first in a series of historical crime fiction by Ukrainian author Andrey Kurkov. So far, it's really good.
Movie
by Parnell HallStanley Hastings #10, in which Stan's screenplay is used as a script for a movie being shot in New York. Some accidents are not actually accidents and the body count goes up. I thought this is one of the best of the series, very entertaining light mystery. I really liked it, 4 stars.
Fans of legal thrillers will enjoy The Plinko Bounce
. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Completed Lincoln's Last Trial: The Murder Case That Propelled Him to the Presidency by Dan Abrams | read by Adam Verner A murder trial was the last thing Lincoln wanted to take on as there were rumblings at the time people wanting Lincoln to enter the political arena. Book appeals to those who enjoy the law, murder trials or true crime stories then this is worthy read.
Black Wolf is the fast paced, suspenseful follow up to Juan Gómez-Jurado's action packed thriller Red Queen featuring a very special agent, Antonia Scott and the second in the series to be translated from Spanish into English.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Now starting THE GHOSTS OF BELFAST (2009) by Stuart Neville. This is the first novel in his four-book series featuring former IRA hit man Gerald Fegan and/or detective inspector Jack Lennon. The book earned nominations for the Anthony, Barry, and Macavity Awards as the Best First Mystery Novel by a new author. And it won the LA Times Book Prize as well. Let's hope it lives up to the hype.
Lewis Sinclair and the Gentlemen Cowboys
