How to Solve Your Own Murder
is a fun, old style mystery. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I've finished Fear Stalks the Village by Ethel Lina White. It was pretty good, with the focus on how poison pen letters upset the equilibrium of an otherwise tranquil, idyllic village. No murders, actually, which is unusual. I just bought a bunch of new (and a couple of used) books all featuring poison pen letters so it will be interesting to see how the stories differ from book to book.

It's also about poison-pen letters in a tranquil English village.

Thank you! I've already read it, but I'll be reading it again this year, along with about a dozen other crime novels featuring poison pen letters, all published between the 1930s and the 1960s.

The Last Tea Bowl Thief by Jonelle Patrick | review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...First time reading a novel by this author. Jonelle Patrick wrote a lovely novel set in feudal and present-day Japan.
Just finished Tales of Terror and Mystery by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Entertaining. Short review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read The King Arthur Case: A Brittany Mystery by Jean-Luc Bannalec My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...I compare this police procedural series to cerebral mystery authors such as Agatha Christie and Hakon Nesser. It is set in Brittany, France.
I am a great fan of Mick Herron's Slough House series but didn't realise that The Secret Hours was so wonderfully connected to it. Loved seeing some old favourites, back in the day in Berlin.
My review of The Secret Hours
Wonder Woman, Vol. 3: The Truth⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stars
Diana has now become Wonder Woman and the book is a dark descent into darkness for her.
One of the better graphic novels on Wonder Woman. Series is worth reading.

Reading a version of this The Adventures of Alyx contained in Joanna Russ: Novels & Stories (LOA #373): The Female Man / We Who Are About To . . . / On Strike Against God / The Complete Alyx Stories / Other Stories. Kind of a hasty choice, I suppose. I mean, I've only owned the former for about 40 years, so what was the hurry?
Out on the Rim
by Ross ThomasWu and Durant #2. I don't think Ross Thomas could write a bad book if he tried. I've read several of his and really liked all of them. However I think this is one of his weakest only because it was written in the 1980's and takes place mostly in the Philippines and is focused on the Marcos/Aquino governments and the attendant fictionalized shenanigans. Double crosses, triple crosses and even more complicated trickery abound, all of which is Thomas' metier. Unfortunately it all doesn't carry much import today. I did like it but 3 stars.
James Bond: Origin, Vol. 2

that information makes me more likely to read your review. A book title and a link to a review doesn't make me want to read either the book or the review. Thank you
I read Pushing Back the Desert: Inspired by True Events by Gordon Zuckerman The true event is the overthrow of the democratically elected government of Iran in 1953 by British and American spies. My 3.5 star review, rounded up: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Viviana Valentine Gets Her Man
by Emily EdwardsViviana is the secretary to a PI in New York in 1950. And 1950 was 73 years ago so I guess it's (gulp) "historical"? Anyway it's cute and moves right along but the book is not written at a high level. And a couple of minor points for the editor: Americans listen to the radio, not the wireless and cops raid cat houses, not can houses. 2 stars.
Saving Emma
is a smart legal thriller with religious overtones. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I'm going a bit retro this week and just started on NIGHT SOLDIERS (1988) by Alan Furst, the first book in his ongoing series set in Europe both before and during WWII.My father is a big fan of Furst's stuff, so I thought I would give one a try and see how it stacks up against the other WWII novels I have sampled over the years.
