Janice - re the spoilers for Chief Inspector G: (view spoiler)[ I do not have my printed books any more but I listened to book #2 again and it is not revealed how the bag lady knew Clara and her art except that she is CC’s mother and a childhood friend of Mother, and the other two women who try to sacrifice themselves in the snowstorm to cover for CC’s daughter, who electrocuted her mother at the Curling match. The guy that has it in for Gamache is Maurice B., his childhood friend and the one who joined the police force together with him. I cannot find his name to spell it correctly. Book #3 was available and I am listening to it again. I’m glad because I finally understand who the officer is that is spying on Gamache and is in league with Maurice B. (hide spoiler)].

You’re ahead of me in the Cork O’Connor series. I’m half way through Red Knife (#8) but I have a couple of other books that are also taking up my reading time. I’m glad you’re enjoying the series.
Cherie wrote: "Janice - re the spoilers for Chief Inspector G: [spoilers removed]."Thanks. I pretty much suspected that (view spoiler)
I finished Mycroft Holmes and have added the three book series to my series list for this year. At the time I added the book to my TBR list, it was only as a curiosity and now there are three books! It was a pretty good story and I really liked the characters. I finished listening to A Great Reckoning am currently listening to The Beautiful Mystery. I really love the Chief Inspector books!
I am reading The Iron King for my yearly challenge, but I really haven't started it yet because I decided to start Odd Interlude first. I thought I had read it, but it hasn't triggered any brain cell activity yet and I am over 100 pages in.
I finished my Chief Inspector Gamache book and started listening to Lady of the Eternal City, the fourth and last book in the Empress of Rome series. I have had it on hold for months!I’m giving my ears a rest and hope to finish Odd Interlude today. The Iron King is still waiting.
I finished Odd Interlude.I have Odd Hours and Odd Apocalypse both on hold. The wait time is ~ two weeks.
I am starting The Iron King tomorrow.
Cherie wrote: "I finished my Chief Inspector Gamache book."I'll be tacking book 3, The Cruelest Month in August.
I got Odd Hours from the library tonight. I am starting it now.I have not finished The Iron King yet. I really didn’t like it at first but the story has sucked me in now. I need to see what happens next.
hmmm. I somehow let my Libby audiobook for Lady of the Eternal City slip away. I have it back and am at 71%.I finished The Iron King for my yearly challenge and I have added the series to my list for this year.
I finished Odd Interlude and am currently re-reading Odd Hours. As I read more things come back, but I am still going to finish. I have Odd Apocalypse waiting to start.
I finished listening to The Madness of Crowds this morning. I also finished #10 The Long Way Home. Libby says that I returned it on Aug 4th.
I am almost done with Odd Hours. Are you going to start Odd. Interlude next, Jannene?I decided that I needed a break from Fey and Faeries so I started A Song of Comfortable Chairs. It is an orphan read for The No. 1 Ladie’s Detective Agency.

I'll start when you're ready, Cherie.
I finished my reread of Odd Hours. I thought the poltergeist scene in the police station was the best! You can go ahead and read Odd Interlude, Jannene. I read it before I started the OH book. I have Odd Apocalypse for the next 14 days. I have How the Light Gets In by Louise Penny to listen to as I drive down to Grants Pass to see my sister today.
Okay - update:I finished Odd Apocalypse - it was long and I was glad when it was over. (view spoiler)
I finished listening to Lady of the Eternal City, the last book in The Empress of Rome series and I am declaring the series KILLED. I really liked the last book and held off listening to the last two hours just to prolong the finish.
I found The Longmire Defense was available from Libby and finished it yesterday as an orphan read. Book #20 is on hold.
I finished listening to How the Light Gets In during my week in Grants Pass. I believe that I have listened to all of the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache books now. I reviewed my Libby returns and I will update my GR list to check.
I downloaded Deeply Odd from Libby and will start reading it today. I started A Song of Comfortable Chairs before I went to Grants Pass, but only got about 50 pages in.
I really need to get going with The Cruel Prince. It is for my yearly challenge and I need to finish this and the next book, I think, so that I can get to the latest Pendergast book, which was just published and jumped into my Barnes&Nobel library last week. It will be an orphan read.
I finished The Cruel Prince. It was for my yearly challenge and I need to report it.Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard is download from Libby and up next. I really wanted to read The Wicked King next but the wait is pretty long.
I am 56 pages into Deeply Odd (ebook) and 76% done with the audiobook, The Huntress by Kate Quinn.
I reported The Cruel Prince on my yearly challenge listing and add the three book series to my list for new this year. The Wicked King and The Queen of Nothing are the last two books. It looks like the little brother will be back, but in a series of his own.
Sorry, Jeanne, that it has taken me so long to get back. Two months huh?I finished the last Odd book, Saint Odd, at the end of October.
The Od Thomas series is finally done for me.
I read, or at least it is recorded, that I read the first book 8 years ago. I am sure it was earlier than that though.
I finished the latest Pendergast book orphan, Angel of Vengeance, on Oct 30th.
I am currently reading the 7th book in The Vampire Chronocles series, . I had forgotten how much I love Anne Rice’s Vampire stories. I listened to the first six books in audiobook format, but I cannot find any more audiobooks from my library. I know that there were some after book 9 or 10, but none show up on Libby any more except a Spanish version of #12, so reading it is!
I started and finished two of the Julie Kagawa trilogy, Shadow of the Fox, books. Great stories! I love her storytelling too.
I was just thinking of you yesterday and wondering where you disappeared. Glad to see you posting again.

Dom and I read the first and plan to read the rest next year. We also plan on starting the Vampire stories and finish Penn Cage.
Thanks, Janice. I like your new avatar.I can especially appreciate the peacock feather now that I know how the peacock got the eyes on his feathers (Hera).
I’ve just finished the last lines in Merrick and posted my finish. Like all of the others it was a five ⭐️ read, although this is the first one I actually read vs. listening to. I think I will be listening to the next one. I’m just waiting to hear from Amy that she got it from Audible for me.I will start the third book in the Shadow of the Fox trilogy next. I have had it on my Nook shelf, just waiting. It is Night of the Dragon.
Oh how I hate to have a great story come to an end! I just finished Night of the Dragon and the Shadow of the Fox trilogy by Julie Kagawa is finished less than forty minutes before the closing hour of 2024. I am looking forward to seeing what 2025 brings my way. I’m still getting used to the idea of being retired and all the time to do what I want, when I want.
Happy New Year my friends!
Have a great reading year Cherie. I've decided that I will completely retire this year too. I was talking to a cousin today and told her I was going to retire, and now I don't want to work tomorrow or Friday. I will need to work on Monday. That's the joys of being self-employed. I can take days off when I want to. :)
