Monica Go | 894 comments This doesn't let me put it as currently reading only makes me review it and it didn't even appear anywhere. I don't understand. Usually when I'm currently reading a different edition of a book that I already read it just shows that edition in the currently reading if I switch it. But I don't lose the old one. It just tells me that I have another review of that same book.

Joy (rabbit-stew) | 35 comments I'm nearly through Last Days by Brian Evenson. Literary body-horror noir. It's excellent and not at all what I expected. I am over the moon because I've found a new author to devour. Evenson is a splendid writer.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic | 62 comments I discovered a really great horror author last month:

Nick Clausen

I love zombie post-apocalyptic novels. The more in a series the better. I saw his boxed set on unlimited and gave it a shot. I read Dead Meat last month and Under the Breaking Sky boxed set this month. Just love discovering new author that are my jam.

Wanted some Christmas horror to wet my appetite so I recently started Season's Creepings.

Would really like to find some other Christmas horror books to read after I get done with this one.

Randy Money | 432 comments Just finished Malpertuis by Jean Ray in translation, which is a very odd, but quite good Gothic horror/dark fantasy novel first published in 1943. Probably requires a bit more patience than some contemporary readers would want to give, but rewards patience by being quite weird, yet coherent, by the end. I think some readers who enjoy Clark Ashton Smith or Thomas Ligotti might find it of interest.

Elizabeth (elizabethlk) | 20 comments I finally got around to reading The Stepford Wives by Ira Levin, and I finished it last night. I honestly really enjoyed Rosemary's Baby, but this was actually better somehow.

Char | 17457 comments I just finished a reread of the entire Pine Deep trilogy by Jonathan Maberry. What fun! Just now I finished reading Ink by Jonathan Maberry also by Jonathan Maberry and also taking place in Pine Deep, PA. I very much enjoyed this one as well.

I'm listening to a short story as a sort of palate cleanser, and then I'm going to start the last book in the Matthew Corbett series by Robert McCammon. I'm excited and sad all at the same time as this series has been part of my life for the last 10-20 years.

Surely You Can't Be Serious The True Story of Airplane! by David Zucker
Surely You Can't Be Serious: The True Story of Airplane! by Zucker, Abrahamson and Zucker
The book was even funnier than the movie as the trio tell the journey of how the classic film was made.

I must mention once again that I began this book with low expectations because supernatural books generally a history of being disappointing. However, I must say that this is undoubtedly one of the best books I have read in the published 'fanfiction' series. story is a giant roller coaster ride from start finish, leaving you breathless as you read it. There is truly dull moment in this book. While some reviewers mentioned the ending boring, I found it perfect. Moreover, the characterisation is impeccable and will genuinely you feel you are reading the story of the real Winchester brothers from the show, rather than just fanfiction.

I have this on my bookshelf. I'll have to get to it soon 'cause I have a feeling I'll really need plenty of things to make me laugh in 2025.

How to Stop Time by Matt Haig Seemed like a good book title to end the year on. The story is good so far and well written.

I actually own a copy, published in 1976. It has two loose pages, but is in great shape otherwise. I have read this before, but this time it is for a buddy read.

Char | 17457 comments I read this novelette in one afternoon Reap, Sow by S.H. Cooper and enjoyed it! (It comes out in the next few months.)
I'm reading At Dark, I Become Loathsome by Eric LaRocca which comes out at the end of January.
I'm listening to the latest Orphan X novel Nemesis (Orphan X, #10) by Gregg Hurwitz which is due out in February, I think.
I'm having a great start to 2025 reading!

Lee Cushing | 97 comments Within The Fog
The story is a twist on the old legend of Roanoke, throwing a family in a Colorado town into a foggy nightmare. This supernatural tale creates gruesome scenes and instills terror in the family.

Although there were errors, the writing style is well-suited to the plot. The characters were reasonably well described and served as good foils for each other. I appreciated the concept and found it to be creepily effective.

Overall, it’s fantastic horror story that keeps you on edge your seat. The suspense is, the are well-developed, and the plot twists are unexpected and chilling.’s a thrilling read from start to finish, with the right amount of fright to keep you hooked.
