Olaf and Essex by Patti Calkosz
Very much an outlier for this middle-grade novel. Didn't like the writing at all.

With more than a nod to Enid Blyton, AA Jock Serong has let his imagination run wild with Cherrywood, and I'm all for it.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Two middle-grade graphic novels. One based on a true story, one an adaptation of a full-length novel.1. Lost at Windy River: A True Story of Survival by Trina Rathgeber
Needed a bit of finetuning, but good to know an inspiring true story.

2. The Great Turkey Walk: A Graphic Novel Adaptation of the Classic Story of a Boy, His Dog and a Thousand Turkeys by Kathleen Karr

An Astonishment of Stars: Stories by Kirti Bhadresa
A short story collection with BIPOC women in the lead. Interesting but a mood read.

Finished reading
The Scythians: Nomad Warriors of the Steppe by Barry Cunliffe. A staple source book for those who love the steppe nomads. My review.
My review of
December Park by Ronald Malfi, way too long and more of a coming of age tale than a horror novel, but with lots of 5★ reviews.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The Mistress of Bhatia House is another enjoyable historical mystery in this series featuring a female solicitor working in Bombay in the 1920s.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Would You Like to Choose the Race? is a thought-provoking question suggested by Arvind Ethan David in his clever 'Earworm' series dramatisation.
My review of Would You Like to Choose the Race?
George Saunders is one of the very best short story writers. He reveres the Russian masters. I, on the other hand, prefer his work, like the moving, inventive, bizarre stories in Tenth of December. What an imagination!
My review of Tenth of December
Bright I Burn by Molly Aitken
Based on the story of a woman in thirteenth century Ireland who was the first to be condemned as a witch. Had great potential but the writing approach was a bit too experimental. Might work better for Booker-style lit fic lovers.
