PattyMacDotComma | 3310 comments Andrew McGahan was a fine Australian writer who won the 2005 Miles Franklin Award for The White Earth, which certainly meets the criteria, being of the highest literary merit and presenting Australian life in any of its phases. I do love a good historical mystery.

Carolyn | 9861 comments This is a beautifully written debut novel about the impact of a missing child on her sister. Don't expect a thriller, more of a literary, character based mystery.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9985 comments I do hope that Death in the Details by Katie Tietjen is a series debut as it says in the blurb: more of this cast and setting would be most welcome. 5★s

In This Ravishing World by Nina Schuyler
Might have worked better for me had it been advertised as a composite literary fiction than as a short story collection.

Shanghailanders by Juli Min
A literary fiction with reverse storytelling, going from 2040 to 2014. An innovative structure but a bit tricky to read. Good for those who like character-oriented writing.
