December Subdue the Shelf Roll Requests
Amy wrote: "Love it! Is there any chance the Porters are next? What a lovely, creative end of journey surprise. Thank you, Nancy."Yes, Porter will be next! If we don't have enough 2 roll rewards, we will substitute smaller rewards. We will also have random drawings.
2 Extra Rolls will be available 12/12 for PORTER Players. When you complete your book and request your next roll, you will be eligible for an additional 2 roll bonus. I will check the consolidated board for eligibility.
Request the bonus from Nancy (and put Porter in the message) when you are ready for it. You can add it to your next regular roll or a later roll. If you'd prefer to move to the book indicated by the roll from Anita, you can request the bonus later.
(Each member can only receive one of these bonus awards, but they may still be eligible for random rewards in the future.)
12/12 Daniel
Then it's a good thing I can now start my 2nd book to read before I can ask for another roll! My last was a 6:5 so I had to read 2 books not 1. Ursula was determined to keep me in the first half of my Porter board.
RANDOM DRAWING for Small Rewards. They don't move you far, but they are fun for flexibility
1. You were eligible for this drawing if you did not qualify for Clerk derailment assistance or a 2-roll bonus announced on 12/11
2. Your name was entered twice if you requested a roll from December 1 to December 11, or you were a Shakeup Sunday victim in December. (Sue, Pam, Diana, Daniel, JenK Tien, BnB. BC, KateNZ)
The Winners are:
5 spaces = Joanne, Diana
2 Spaces = Amy, BNB
1 Space = KateNZ, BC
You can add this award to any roll or save it for another turn. Please post a note here and on the tracking log for your board. Let me know if you have any questions.
Daniel wrote: "I'm ready for another roll (1)"Congratulations Daniel, the players on the Porter board now qualify for a conductor bonus. When they finish a book and request a new roll, they can also request an extra 2 roll bonus from the conductors. You can add it to today’s roll, or a future roll. Let me know if you would like it today.
Love the surprise reward plan! I'm hoping for a Christmas miracle because I'm probably not going to manage to another Subdue as is with real life. Congrats to everyone for a fabulous challenge!

Thank you, Nancy! What an unexpected gift! I'm already 30% into my book so I'll use it with my next (and probably, last) roll.

Thanks so much! I am close to the end of the board and hope to finish this month and won't start another. This takes me closer to end game!
Daniel wrote: "I'm ready for another roll (1)"Daniel your bonus 2-roll is (1-5). Anita will post your regular roll this afternoon.
Theresa, I am in the wicked 11 boat as well! Except I’m almost off the board. I may not need the conductors help at all, but just knowing that they are there helping us out and cheering us on, it’s just the motivation. We all need, even if we are close.
I will be using one of my special advantages for my next move. The one from 7/18 for 42 spaces. This brings me to #51
Thank you conductors! The two additional rolls are added to my single die roll (I have not started the book yet) and it puts me on my #11, which happens to be a holiday book. It is a Halloween book, not Christmas, but it does have the monthly tag.

Thanks for the extra rolls!
I was just roaming the train, looking at areas that need to be cleaned, and I found the cabana boys huddled in the baggage car. Silence enveloped the car, as soon as I walked in. After repeated threats (with the help of Gnarly's hissing) I finally got the secret out of them:Seems that Tom (who won't be back) bought the racetrack so the cabana boys would stay employed. At the moment Tom is in negotiations with Steve Kornacki for the head honcho job. https://www.msnbc.com/msnbc-live/stev... Steve fashions himself a race expert since analyzing The Kentucky Derby 2 years in a row. 😖
Steve and I have a history from Poll Tally when he helped with Jade Dragons Big Board-here's hoping he behaves himself
Joanne wrote: "I was just roaming the train, looking at areas that need to be cleaned, and I found the cabana boys huddled in the baggage car. Silence enveloped the car, as soon as I walked in. After repeated thr..."Woo! Joanne, that is great to hear. I am a huge Steve Kornacki fan.
**ONE WEEK LEFT TO GO** before the train reaches its final destination and everyone must disembark.Or it derails.
Depending on your world view.

😂🤣
I am finally finishing my 2 reads from last roll - fingers crossed I get to ask for a roll tomorrow and use the one measly special advantage Ursula allowed me in an absent-minded moment. I have zero hope of fonishing my Porter Board bit moving up a car would sure be nice.

It's looking a tad shabby even with the Christmas decor.

Do love knowing our boys are continuing with us!
Anita, I'm going to request another roll in a few minutes...I'm also planning to do another drawing tonight or tomorrow morning.
My review of Yellowface is barely coherent, but it's the best I can do at the moment. I'm ready for my next roll (3). I'm adding a 2 roll reward and I'll mark it on my log.
Announcement to all Train PassengersI am about to post the most recent seating arrangements to the Consolidated Boards thread.
Please check your position and alert me via private message if you believe I have you in the incorrect seat on the train.
As we approach our final destination, we need to ensure all passengers are in their correct seats and are accounted for!
I did not realize we had just a week until final destination. I may not actually make it, unless I am able to finish my current book, my next book and I roll a 6! I am a good sport however, and in the spirit of the journey, if I have to get off the train, I will hitchhike to the Porter finish line. Using my participation points, I could just read book 100, or 99, so even if the train has stopped moving and I didn't get a roll, I think my hitchhiking efforts might suffice. I am so close, who doesn't mind a good walk. Can someone mind Gnarly and my puzzles and things? I may rent a bike and he is too big for the Dorothy Basket. Besides, my books need to got there. There may be a library for return at the final porter destination.
Cabanna Boys will take charge of Gnarly, Amy. I have a feeling he will be checking out the race track and lurking around the stables knowing you will be there! And Joy and Cindy. He will be busy keeping the rodents out of the feed and hay.Joy's Magic Trunk will be transported by the boys too. I told them to make sure all games and puzzles are collected and returned to it on 20th.
🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁After almost 2 months, I'm finally ready for my next roll .....
3 dice roll please - I'm using my single earned special advantage from 9/9 - I will note it on my tracking on my Porter Board.
As for #30 which I just finished, I used a swap and read Haven Creek - 448 pages - Review 12/10/23 - pages confirm - neither has a hardcover - Water for Elephants - 352 pages - the original edition paperback I own -https://www.amazon.com/Water-Elephant... - Haven Creek - 448 pages https://www.amazon.com/Haven-Creek-Ca.... I also had Special Roll 6:5 = read from someone's board - Girl in Hyacinth Blue from BnB's Eng 1 #82. Both books read and reviewed. All noted in my tracking.
I also did not realize the game was ending so soon. I didn't find a deadline other than "this year" in the original post. But I'm good.I did finish my # 6 book while in Texas... but have yet to write, let alone post my review. Ursula moved me back to # 4 ... which I just picked up at the library today. So the spot you have me now, Anita, is correct.
(Of course, Nancy kindly moved me forward 14 spaces to spot # 18 ... but I doubt I'll get there, even before Dec 31, let alone Dec 15 or 20 or whatever the date we're pulling into the last station.)
I’ve been knocked back to Engineer loop 1 and won’t be able to complete loop 2 in order to get the engineer promotion. So I’m going to call time here and bow out. I’ll pick from the remaining list for next year’s Trim. This has been such a fabulous challenge!! I’ve loved being on this mad train! Many thanks to Anita and JoAnne for the organisation and to all you imaginative beings for the train fun xx
Anita - you have me in the correct spot on my Porter board - at least until tomorrow' rolls. I really hoping though to finally move out of the Baggage Car ....
I'm on 99 of the Engineer board, but don't sweat it. It's the last book I will read and not asking for another roll.
I'm on my 2nd round of Engineer but not close enough to finish this board. I will probably get one more book read.I am fine with my result. I see I read 62 books for this game (I was stuck a long time on Engineer Round 1). I made almost all of them count for at least one other challenge or group. At least half of them I probably wouldn't have gotten to this year. There were only 2 that I really didn't like.
I have reached the half-mark point of my current book, and would like to request a new roll (two dice, original level). I doubt I will finish it before next week, but I would still like ro read the next one over the Christmas holiday. @NancyJ: Thanks for the extra rolls, that was sweet. I would like my two extra dice thank you

I just finished my last Birthday book and was about to start my book for this. I will wait for your roll and add to my recent roll. Thank you. This challenge is now my top priority to finish.
