Task: Each teammate reads a book tagged ‘family’ or ‘holiday’ - team chose 'family'

The Family You Make (Sunrise Cove, #1) by Jill Shalvis
The Family You Make 383pgs
Tagged "family" by 8 people on Page 1

9/24/23 - 4 stars - Well, that was just cute! This lighthearted romance that starts as a fake relationship had me smiling the entire time. Both the H/h (as well as all the side characters) we so likeable and I couldn't help but root for all of them. This was my first Jill Shalvis book, but def won't be my last.

I could probably find a great book set in India or the Netherlands. If you absolutely can't see yourself getting into Virgin River, then we can totally figure something else out!

Breann | 398 comments Here's a list that might help with romances set in India: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/4...

Breann | 398 comments 56. As a team, pick a list with over 100 romance books on it, each member reads a book from that list. No pass for this task.

Here's a master list of lists (?, lol) for romance https://www.goodreads.com/list/tag/ro...

Hey, I mean that's great! LOL.

Also, thank you for the lists. I think I like the Best Paranormal and Fantasy Romance list. It's a good, long list. And tons of my TBR books are on there!

MountainKat | 31752 comments Here is your next task!

Task 2 - 3. Each player reads a book by a new to you author - no pass for this task.

To qualify for this task, the selected books need to be written by a new to you author. You may have other books by the selected author on your shelves, but only the book selected for this task can be marked as read/rated. Include a link to your read shelf in your completion post, ideally sorted to your selected author. Please make sure the book you read for this task is on your shelves and marked as read. If your profile is private, you will either need to open if for the duration of this task or friend me so I can confirm your book. If I cannot confirm your book, the task is not completed.

Seriously?! Your first Jill Shalvis? She is one of my favorites! Her humor works for me.

Task: Each player reads a book by a new to you author - no pass for this task.

Book: The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
Pages: 259

Rating: 4.5 stars. Loved it! Short and quick read, very engrossing.
How it Fits: First time reading this author. Link to bookshelf

Vi | 2795 comments I wanna put a disclaimer.. I'm usually not this fast. Both these books happened to quick (and the Gaiman was short)

9/27/23 - 2.5 stars - Dragged for the first half and the premise was a bit silly. Second half was better, once the mystery got going.

I'm starting an intensive bootcamp in 2.5 weeks.. My reading will definitely go down but hopeful that the bc will help me to land a job.

I was looking for a suspense like Sandra Brown or JD Robb.... this was not it

message 89: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2795 comments Nah, definitely not it. I like her older books - one of the first authors when I started reading adultish books (after scandalous and forbidden Diana Palmer in High School) so I enjoy them for nostalgia. If read them now, I probably wouldn't like them so much.

MountainKat | 31752 comments Here is your next task!

Task 3 - 4. Read 4 3 books tagged/shelved as PNR or fantasy.

To qualify for this task the selected books need to be tagged as ‘PNR’, ‘paranormal romance’, ‘paranormal’ or ‘fantasy’. Tags are the only qualifier for this task. Please include a link to the top shelves page of your qualifying tag in your completion post, also include the qualifying tag, the top shelves page number and the number of tags. If the tag is MPG, just say that it is as your qualifier.

Loved that trilogy!! Read it in 2020 - the first part of the first book was a little too real... 😳
