Cathy (cathepsut) | 577 comments My current horror read for Spooktober and my Horrorathon: Something is Killing the Children, Vol. 1. It‘s pretty good so far!

message 152: by Vavita (new)

Vavita | 159 comments I have been dying to read that one even though I am not so into cozy horror. How is it?

Oh my! I liked the pumpkin heads in the Small Spaces books that I took as a suggestion from you. That was easy cozy.

Cathy (cathepsut) | 577 comments Pre-Readathon Challenge: Fall, Falling, Fell

To complete the challenge, choose four of the following idioms as reading pointers/hints/indicators.

1. Fall in Love. (like, attraction, admiration)
2. Fall into the Fire. (destruction, purification, social crisis) Alien Clay, all of the above.
3. Fall into the Flow of Things. (sequence or niche- ness) Visitor, definitely a sequence.
4. Fall to the Earth. (fruit and leaves indicate trees; memoirs about parachuting or skydiving, disillusionment and recovery)
5. Fall off the Radar. (missing persons/murder mysteries) Something is Killing the Children, Vol. 1

Cathy (cathepsut) | 577 comments And just in case you were wondering, YES! I have plans for the weekend! 😂

Tomorrow some walking with a friend and her dog and a wine tasting in the evening and on Sunday I might meet a friend at a coffee shop for a chat and some cake. 🤷

Once I have finished working today, I will at least get my grocery shopping out of the way!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 1437 comments Sounds like a fun weekend ahead of you!

Cathy (cathepsut) | 577 comments Yes, well, one of these days I will manage a Dewey‘s weekend without plans! I made a pact with myself many years ago that real people always come before fictitious ones… 😏

If you‘re arachnophobic, this is not for you. If you don‘t mind spiders, this is great stuff. The ants are creepier, actually.

Vavita wrote: "Yey for rereading Tchaikovsky!"

Just finished Children of Time! I had forgotten soooo much! Ok, it‘s been 7 years… Looking forward to Children of Ruin. But I‘ll listen to something else first.

I don‘t know anyone in RL who reads as much as I do. They just look at me oddly when I mention things like Deweys. 🤷

That's too bad. I only have the one as well. But I would definitely do it on my own as it's only 2-3 times a year.

Cathy (cathepsut) | 577 comments Me, too. See you in the morning!

Hours 11 + 12: about 40 pages of Autonomous and catching up with posts in this group.

message 181: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (cathepsut) | 577 comments I‘m awake! I rewrote my reading schedule, due to the time resetting from summer daylight saving to winter time and then read 28 pages of Autonomous during the Hour 20 reading sprint. Might actually get out of bed now to make some coffee.

message 182: by Lamilla (new)

Lamilla | 823 comments Good morning, Cathy! I'm a tea girl myself. Have a nice finish of the readathon!

message 183: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (cathepsut) | 577 comments I stayed in bed a little longer and relistened to my audiobook chapters from last night. I hadn‘t really taken any of it in and was confused when I started again this morning. And then I hung up my launrdy and I continues The Quantum Curators and the Fabergé Egg. Going to make breakfast now.

Have fun as well with the remaining time! I will meet a friend for coffee (maybe tea), cake and a short walk an hour after the readathon finished. Afterwards I will continue with my books for the rest of the day.

To be fair, those are the Muderbot novellas as audios, aka short and re-reads. A bit like comfort food.
