R6: SSS Better Read than Dead (3) **Winning Team**
Nice Roll.....I will be reading the alternate BLUE COVER
The Art of Keeping Secrets by PATTI CALLAHAN HENRY
Nay Nay do you wanna fill in again for SS? I've got someone on vacation till the 8th. If you don't no worries ;)
It would be tomorrow's roll for sure and I'm not positive if she needs the following week or not. It's Grace's team coincidental enough team 9.
That reminds me I really need to post my review for that one.Still deciding for this one. I might wait until the bingo categories are called tomorrow and see if I can double anything up.
Week 11 Thursday Roll Spot 90
Stand alone cover blueRating★★1/2
Finished 29th May 2015
This was a cute little story about a writer trying to overcome writer's block to write her second novel after a very successful début. Her publicist recommends she start a twitter account. Here she meets Mark and they develop a friendship. The story is told in part via their teets to each other. It is a bit annoying in places and pretty predictable but a fast easy read.

Firstly the book has a beautiful cover. Now with that said...I was looking forward to this read and although it kept me intrigued, but to be honest it was a mediocre read. I don't know if it was my mood, the storyline, or that it just took to long to find this other woman that was on the plane with the main characters husband, but it was heavy, with a blah ending. I'm not sorry for reading the book, but I would not recommend it, with so little time, there are far better books to read.
Week 11: (90 - Stand Alone)Saving Alexander by Susan Mac Nicol
Read: 5/29
Rating: ★★★
This book is a hard one for me to rate. While I liked the main characters a lot, I had a few issues with some of the plot choices. I'm a bit picky about my BDSM and this pushes into the realm of not healthy. I don't qualify this as safe/sane/consensual. Psychologically I can understand why Alex felt he needed things to be the way there were, but Eric's character really bothered me.
There are a lot of unbelievable romantic suspense elements to this one, and the trope has been done before. Author's story is becoming film/tv, things from the book start happening in real life, oh no! The basic plotline wasn't that complicated, the writing style is a little simplistic, but overall not bad. I just kept getting hung up on the use of BDSM in this story.
Look Alexander's past is horrific, and the strength he has to try to become whole again is incredible. I don't even mind the need he had for BDSM as a therapy tool, if that was really all it was and if he had some interest in it as a person. But instead it gets twisted as yet another way to hurt Alexander and the results of what happened with Erik bothered me immensely. From the first he seemed like an out of control Dom (view spoiler) and his obsessive nature doesn't work as someone who is supposed to be a hired Dom. This is his job and not some level of emotional detachment is to be expected or the place of business would lose their reputation. I also didn't like that as much as Alex's therapist was supportive of what the therapy did for Alex she didn't understand it. Melanie had no background in BDSM to help Alex deal with his feelings or to know that it wasn't really something he wanted. He was forced into that type of relationship after his abduction into the cult and didn't know how to process without it. That's something Melanie should have been working with him on dealing with.
I just found so many of the elements of this story to be unbelievable. But I did like the bond between Alexander and Sage. Sage is a little perfect, but his moods gave a little bit of balance back to someone being so understanding of the incomprehensible situation his boyfriend was dealing with. I'll let the film elements go as first it's in another country and I don't know British film the way I do American, and second nothing here got too detailed so I could let the little irksome things go.
All in all this falls into the middle of the road for me. I liked elements, but didn't like some big ones too.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Lots and lots going on in this one! I can't wait for this fall to see how the final battle plays out. Rylee has really grown and is at peace with what must be done. And holy crow did the Pamela line play out! I can't speak highly enough of this series. I've enjoyed the ride with Rylee and her family and I'm sad to see it end later this year.

Well this was a dark plot, and just a heavy read. I kind of had a love/hate relationship with the whole damn book...hated the main character, but yet felt sorry for her...hated the dark plot of date rape, but it happens and the story was real....the writing was great, but had a hard time trudging through it. I really struggled with a star rating, but 3 stars seemed fair.
Grace I finished the read for the SS group...Jenne was not sure if I was needed for another week, just let me know if you do I would be glad to fill in again.
So us and team 1 could go out Thursday if either of us roll a 6. Lets try to make sure our reviews are all in Wednesday if we can so we can roll at the first opportunity in case we have to race to the finish. I've gotta couple of shorties on hand too so if we do roll a 6 I can knock mine out. And I forgot to post I'm reading
for the alt and I'll have it done today.

This was entertaining especially for a novella. I've neglected the spin off books in this series for too long now. I've always had a soft spot for Ben and it was cool to see him all grown up. Tenzin had me lol'ing at times too. I'm glad I finally read this and I won't be neglecting these books again!
Week 11 Sunday Roll Spot 95
Alternate E author Elizabeth HunterRating★★★★
Finished 3rd June 2015
This like the rest of the series was a beautifully written story. Ava and Malachi are reunited and attempt to discover Ava's family history. The title is very fitting as there are secrets revealed which I don't want to spill. It is a fitting end to Ava and Malachi's story but I am looking forward to reading more in this world.
Ok I'm in the middle of reading, but I may not be able to post until I get home after my shift tonight. Sorry guys. :(
That is fine Shelby, I am not sure on times but if it around the roll time then roll for us. I am about an hour after roll time.
I was expecting any number but. I haven't clue what we read a 1 or a Standalone. There is no alternate on list
Yeah purple cover, What a roll Grace!!!!!
Alright ladies it's between us and team 1 read like your life depends on it lol :)
Uggh I have no clue what to read. I have been trying to get a 6 in another challenge and it wouldn't give me one, I suppose that is my 6 quota for the year lol
