**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. MountainKat | 32105 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 6, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

Hi Kat!
Filipa and I are in Europe. I'm CET and Filipa is one hour earlier.
Alyssa is on the East Coast of the US and Eli is West Coast but is a night owl so European mornings will catch Filipa, Eli and I. Alternatively we should all be available late European evenings I think?
We are known as the infamous "Wahredua Wildcat Wild Readers" 😁

MountainKat | 32105 comments Here is your next task!

Task 2 - 3. Each player reads a book by a new to you author - no pass for this task.

To qualify for this task, the selected books need to be written by a new to you author. You may have other books by the selected author on your shelves, but only the book selected for this task can be marked as read/rated. Include a link to your read shelf in your completion post, ideally sorted to your selected author. Please make sure the book you read for this task is on your shelves and marked as read. If your profile is private, you will either need to open if for the duration of this task or friend me so I can confirm your book. If I cannot confirm your book, the task is not completed.

Rating/review: 3.6 stars. More than a hockey romance, this is a found family story centered around two good boys whom “enemies” (lite) Rupert and Callum adopt over the course of the book. Rather wholesome in spite of the homophobia and past trauma. Everything is resolved rather perfectly, but once in a while, it just clicks.

Date completed: Apr 17, 2023
Rating/review: 3 stars. Compared to the other mysteries and developments we've seen so far, this one was notably less compelling with more stumbling upon facts/happenings than true investigation. As for Ellery and Jack’s relationship, I fully expect fights to happen, but I had to side eye a few of their interactions in this one - and I can’t say I was entirely satisfied with the resolution. At least Watson remains his doggy best! Hopefully the next book makes up for the lows 🤞🏼

I think I actually enjoyed the mysteries in this book more than most of the others in the series! The journey was a lot of fun, as usual. Unfortunately, the ending was really rushed and it broke the old "show, don't tell" rule, so that knocked down my overall enjoyment a bit. Still love this series, still looking forward to reading book 7!

Book: How to Be a Normal Person
Page number/source: 290 pages/GR
How book qualified: TJ Klune is a male author (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...)
Date completed: Apr 24, 2023
Rating/review: 4.5 stars. This character-driven story is not for everyone - it’s quirky, it’s repetitive, and at times, nonsensical. But I found so much comfort in this warm, understated love story harmonically merged with TJ Klune’s classic OTT humor (mellow version). I can never turn away from spirited forays into self-discovery and acceptance. And the cherry on top? In the world of MM where asexual characters averse to sex are far and few between, this might be the first story where we have absolutely zero sex scenes and only hugs and kisses. It won’t be easy to find another asexual hipster stoner and Grumpy Gus that endear themselves to me this much.

Date Completed: 4/24/23
Rating/Review: 3 stars - I don't know what it is about this series, because the writing style is extremely awkward - but so is the MC, so it somehow works? The MC and his love interest are not very exciting people, but they're nice and the mystery is a fun ride even when the conclusion is (also!) a bit odd. Everything is just a little bit off, and I don't think it's intentional, but I'm still enjoying the heck out of this series. (This review is just for you all, this is such a backhanded compliment to the author LOL)

Book: Death of a Pirate King

Rating/Review: 5 stars: Bumping up the rating on this because it's been a few years since I first read it, and have been thinking about it ever since. I don't usually listen to audiobooks, but I'm really glad I gave it a try because the narrator was fantastic. The voices were all pretty similar to how I imagined them in my head, and he really nailed Adrien's dry sarcasm perfectly.

I really just love the journey this book took me on, both plot-wise and with character development. I know it's terrible but I really do love watching Adrien getting himself all twisted up in these murder mysteries. I still passionately hate Jake but I love Adrien so much that everything else about him makes up for his having bad taste in men. In this book I particularly love his fondness for his stepsisters, especially Emma, and that even though everyone is telling Adrien left and right that he's bitter, jealous, mean, etc. he is RIGHTFULLY SASSY!!! Poor buddy just needs everyone to leave him alone for a week so he can sleep
