I'm actually not sure how to prove that at least 50% of the book took place in Wyoming as there is no english GR description of it. But if you take a look at the GR description I linked, you'll see that Laramie (Wyoming) is mentioned. That's the area where the protagonist spent a year as an exchange student and that experience is what the book is about.
