What are you reading right now? For 2023

I am also reading the 1st of 2 prequel novels for the upcoming Dungeons and Dragons Movie. This first book is called Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: The Druid's Call by E.K. Johnston.
I was asked to read something out of my usual reads, Raw: A Primeval Harem by Misty Vixen. Not sure if I will make it through this one, I'm halfway through and still waiting for an actual plot to be revealed.
Lastly, I started Tell Me by Lisa Jackson which is an interesting Romantic Suspense Mystery Crime Thriller tale I stumbled on. I never read Lisa Jackson before and the first book in this series hooked me in and now I am on book 3 of 4.
After finishing my reread of the April series, I found a new to me fantasy series that grabbed me. Hopefully that will last me until one of the books I’ve been expecting to drop soon finally appears.

Overall, I was disappointed in how this ended. The series started strong with the first book, The Red Queen, but as this series progressed, as the characters developed and the plots led up to the final confrontations and climaxes, it delivered a lackluster ending.

Really enjoying the exploration aspect of it.

I’ve been reading fantasy lately, but there’s a new Jerry Boyd book just out. #32 Title is “Dog Days”. Not sure whether I’ll finish the fantasy I’m currently rereading or switch to Dog Days then finish the fantasy later. I’m trying to not start it immediately because it’s close to bedtime and I need to sleep tonight, not stay up reading until 3am.
Edit: I did start Dog Days by Jerry Boyd last night but managed to put it down again for bedtime. Will finish that fantasy later.

Finished Dog Days by Jerry Boyd. Yes loosely space opera, but not as much in the way of action or putting Bob into a tight spot he has to solve. It seems to set up for more interesting action in the next book though.
April #14 by Mackey Chandler is taking a lot longer than expected. The author says it’s at 50K words so less than halfway. Sigh. There are some good fantasy books coming out later this month though. Still resisting getting the eARC of the new Liaden Universe book.
So I’m back to that fantasy book I was rereading.

The best part is there is a whole series on it. Let's see how far I go with it.
I’ve been reading and rereading various fantasy books. I finally gave in and bought the eARC of Salvage Right by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller so I’ll finally be back in space opera for a while.

So far, I have found it is deeply engaging and wonderfully nerrated.
Finished reading the eARC of Salvage Right by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. Rereading Legacy Systems; first story is how Val Con found Jeeves. Second story is The Space at Tinsori Light which gives some backstory for Salvage Right. Odds are good I’ll reread Neogenesis next which covers the rest of the backstory of Tinsori Light.
Salvage Right ties up a lot of loose ends and most of the action takes place on Tinsori Light, bouncing the POV among a rather large set of characters.

Finished rereading Legacy Systems. Still plan to reread Neogenesis but I’ve been distracted by a new fantasy book.

I really enjoyed Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead, but the ones after that were a disappointment, as were his other series.

I’ve never really like Ender’s Game the novel; the short story is superior. Card is also a genuine garbage person, so I don’t want to elevate him any more than he already has been. There are definitely other authors one should support instead, ones who don’t have a legacy of violent rhetoric and hateful actions.
Please take the conversation about Card to a new thread, as it is a touchy subject. Having it in a separate thread makes it easier to ignore for those who are trying to avoid it.

I presume we are talking about Orson Scott Card here.

New Bob and Nikki book just dropped: No Good Deed by Jerry Boyd. So I’m pausing my reread of Neogenesis

No Good Deed by Jerry Boyd was good, and more fun than the previous Bob and Nikki book. I got distracted by fantasy for a while but I have resumed my reread of Neogenesis by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller.

Back to fun makes continuing more appealing to me.

Finished rereading Neogenesis. In the mood for something light so I’m back to rereading fantasy for a while. Until some new book catches my attention anyway.

man .... the Saga of the Skolian Empire by Catherine Asaro (https://www.goodreads.com/series/4037...) is hard to find at libraries. and some volumes are still like $30+ online.

Currently participating as a beta reader of "Beyond the Glooming Pass" by Rebecca Holmes, a well-written fantasy adventure book featuring a strong female lead. Ms. Holmes is hoping to see this book published.
Aso reading Blood Cull by John Conroe which is book 18 of the Demon Accords Urban Fantasy series I have been hooked on for the past few years.
I have a few text books I am reading too, but they are not as fun as the fiction! :-)

Just starting FractalNoise. Will report back on that.

I loved the Raksura series! Very different from Murderbot!

finished The Radiant Seas the direct sequel to Primary Inversion.
i am kinda reading in chronological order instead of publication date.
so next was The Moon's Shadow.
then i wanted to read all of Kelricson's story before continuing chronologically and reading The Ruby Dice.
i found the short story "Light and Shadow" on her blog. yay! https:// catherineasaro.wordpress. com/ hold-on-to-the-light/
currently reading The Last Hawk. poor Kelric. he cannot catch a break.

I’m also keeping my eyes peeled for the next Jerry Boyd book. I have some fantasy books preordered that are coming out in April.
