Chris, my man, you're bumming me out! Since I already have the story STICKS in my copy of Dark Descent, do you recommend skipping this collection, then?

I've been seeing a few posts about that this weekend, Alan! I'm sort of glad they didn't approve me for an ARC.

So am I. Would have hated to post my review to the publisher. Glad I just got it from the library.

No, I don't recommend that. It's a famous collection and I'm just one person. In general the first three stories are considered the best in the book, so you might read those and decide if you want to keep going. Hey, Stephen King has called "Sticks" a masterpiece, so what do I know?

message 58: by Char (new)

Char | 17481 comments Yeah, after reading your comments, I decided to pass.
I got their new Killer Whale book instead. lol

Since then, in horror, I've been added:
The Writings of Aleister Crowley (pretty out there, lol); The Exorcist's House by Nick Roberts; Demonic by Jeff Strand; Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel; An Unkindness of Ravens by John Ryland (Very good)

Reading Gothic by Phillip Fracassi right now; it is excellent (54% on Kindle).

Matt (mkeegan) | 2 comments I just completed Intercepts by TJ Payne, which I enjoyed. It becomes a bit predictable after the midway point, but he creates wonderful tension in the beginning portion of the book. It was also a quick read as well.
