Chris, my man, you're bumming me out! Since I already have the story STICKS in my copy of Dark Descent, do you recommend skipping this collection, then?

I've been seeing a few posts about that this weekend, Alan! I'm sort of glad they didn't approve me for an ARC.

So am I. Would have hated to post my review to the publisher. Glad I just got it from the library.

No, I don't recommend that. It's a famous collection and I'm just one person. In general the first three stories are considered the best in the book, so you might read those and decide if you want to keep going. Hey, Stephen King has called "Sticks" a masterpiece, so what do I know?
Yeah, after reading your comments, I decided to pass. I got their new Killer Whale book instead. lol
Aaron wrote: "In horror this January I've enjoyed A Child Alone With Strangers by Phillip Fracassi (Very good). Also The Shuddering by Ania Ahlborn, We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson, as well..."Since then, in horror, I've been added:
The Writings of Aleister Crowley (pretty out there, lol); The Exorcist's House by Nick Roberts; Demonic by Jeff Strand; Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel; An Unkindness of Ravens by John Ryland (Very good)
Reading Gothic by Phillip Fracassi right now; it is excellent (54% on Kindle).
Finished Demonic by Jeff Strand. It was a lot of good fun in poor taste! That's how I like it. Take it easy friends.
I just completed Intercepts by TJ Payne, which I enjoyed. It becomes a bit predictable after the midway point, but he creates wonderful tension in the beginning portion of the book. It was also a quick read as well.
My second read of Ghost Story
by Peter Straub and it was just as good as the first time around. First class, loved it.

I just finished Danny Trejo's autobiography I have been such a huge fan of his and got to meet him at Horrorhound and he was so nice it was nice to read about his life.
I finished the Soviet Sci-Fi (although there are plenty of horror elements as well) classic:
Roadside Picnic by Arkady Strugatsky and Boris Strugatsky
Rating: 5 stars

Capping off a relaxing weekend, I finished the thriller
Intensity by Dean Koontz
Rating: 3 stars

I've been reading a bunch of horror lately. Cursed Bunny by Bora Chung is a great collection of genre diverse horror short stories.

Mister Magic by Kiersten WhiteOh man what a great book! One of my top sub-genres of horror, magic! You're gonna want to grab this one once it gets released.

I finished
. I thought it was a pretty good tale of gone but not forgotten Mexican gods. I think it could definitely have been shorter, but it was creative and sometimes fun.
Recently finished How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix
