Laura | 2892 comments So, what's everyone reading this weekend, and into next week? It's raining here in Sunny California, so I'm staying cozy indoors. Started The Coldest Girl in Coldtown earlier today for my current audio, and I'll start Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries in the morning. My mom just subscribed to Jenny Lawson's (The Bloggess) Fantastic Stranglings Book Club, and this was the book this month, so I've got a lovely copy in my hands from her.

Also planning to listen to Fortuna Sworn this week. My recent OwlCrate shipment had some items inspired by this series, so I'm intrigued. And I want to read my new copy of The Buried and the Bound from that same shipment.

And, of course, the newest In Death book comes out this week. But libraries tend to be a little slow unless you get on the waitlist the second they put the book in their system. So it'll be a few a weeks on that one.

Have you verified the word count for this?

Because it has a Childrens' and MG tag.

Nope, this is the same thing, only the other knee! lol. I twisted my ankle the other day (something I'm really prone to as I have hypermobile joints), and landed on my knee, which is roughly the size of a watermelon now, and a beautiful purple colour :D

So I need to rest/ice/elevate for a few days, and then gently ease myself back into using it, but as it's not weight-bearing in the meantime, I'm stuck in the same room as hubby 24-7. Not conducive to reading, or you know... sanity. :D

I just booted him out the door to go grocery shopping, so I have an hour of peace to catch up with M Poirot :D

I'm still on A Suitable Boy, which will probably keep me busy until tuesday or so. Also Murder on the Orient Express, which I'm guessing will be done around the same time :)

Next up after those are The Sea, the Sea and The Talented Mr. Ripley

Eldarwen | 5004 comments I'm currently reading Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid for my real life book club and I'm wondering if I should start an audiobook as well for killing time on the bus in the morning when I'm too sleepy to hold a book in my hand haha. Maybe the next Elemental Assassin in that case. I like listening to those; one of the few series I listen to from time to time as I'm not an audio fan.

That one is a puzzle, for sure. I'll let Eldarwen answer that one. :)

message 221: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Why? Why would they put a book as #0?! That's just odd haha.

But the book is a prequel, so definitely not a #2 in series. What we go by for challenges in general is whatever is marked down on the book's page on Goodreads. So in this case #0.

So the series number won't really work for Uno, since 0 is stand-alone, but you've got plenty of other options for the cards anyway :-)

Are you going to read it? Let me know what you think! I read the other one and it was a decent enough read that I might be tempted by this one hehe.

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1019 comments Overall verdict on the story: I enjoyed it very much, but I think it could safely lose a couple of hundred pages without hurting the story any.
There are some great characters in this book, and some pretty amusing situations. It's basically a super long soap opera.

If anyone is planning to read it, I would recommend sticking to paper/kindle unless you're very familiar with Indian accents. I'm friends with several Indians, and I still struggled to keep up with the audio at times. (Especially as they pronounce the TH as T, which led to some interesting questions as to whether the story contained discussions about DEBT or DEATH, lol!)
