I finished listening to The Lantern Men by Elly Griffiths - 3.5*.Forensics anthropologist Ruth Galloway gets involved in investigating several missing women until she ends up in danger. I like Ruth, the story was so-so and there wasn't as much related to Halloween as expected.
Here are my reviews of three recently-released Aussie Crime/Mystery titles, set respectively in southern NSW, my home state of Tasmania and South Australia's Limestone Coast.

I finished listening to Lost Lake by Phillip Margolin - 3.5*.Former Special Forces military man is on the run as he knows too much about illegal assassination missions. A combination of military corruption and legal suspense, the story was a bit far-fetched but entertaining.
In the old days, we could drop our children off at the local playground because it was a happy place, right? Ray Bradbury's 1953 short story,
The Playground
is a good Spooktober read.

I was looking forward to reading this slow burn mystery but didn't enjoy it at all. Reviewers seem to either love it or hate it so don't let my opinion put you off reading it, especially if you enjoy complex, messed up characters.

I got more than I expected with Aussie author Alexander Thorpe's debut novel Death Leaves the Station. Western Australia, early 1900s, "Halfwell Station", a rural property, not a train stop. More Agatha Christie than 'outback noir', with humour to boot. Good read 😊
