Sarah | 385 comments Here are two recent reviews of mine, both crime books, one a gripping standalone thriller, the other a cosy mystery and the first in a new series.

Gayle | 111 comments I finished listening to The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley - 3.5*.

This story had a creepy apartment building, a sister looking for her missing brother and residents with lots of secrets. Entertaining with a far-fetched ending.

Carolyn | 2081 comments This is fast becoming one of my favourite police procedural crime series. Set in Oxford, well written with interesting characters and crimes.

In the Dark (DI Adam Fawley, #2) by Cara Hunter In the Dark by Cara Hunter is the second in her DI Adam Fawley series.

Carolyn | 2081 comments The Last One by Will Dean The Last One by Will Dean is a nightmarish roller coaster of a novel. Not for the faint hearted or those who expect total plausibility in a novel!

Carolyn | 2081 comments My review of Halifax Resurrection (Doctor Jane Halifax Series, Book 2) by Roger Simpson Halifax: Resurrection by Roger Simpson, is the second in a series based on Jane Halifax a forensic psychiatrist from the TV series Halifax f.p. created by Roger Simpson in the 1990s.

Gayle | 111 comments I finished listening to Reckless Creed by Alex Kava - 4*.

I really like dog trainer Creed and FBI agent Maggie as they try to stop a crazy scientist from spreading a deadly strain of the bird flu. Love how the dogs were trained to help and amazed at their abilities.

Gayle | 111 comments I finished listening to The Album by Mary Roberts Rinehart - 3*.

This is a Golden Age mystery about 5 odd, wealthy families living in an isolated neighborhood and one of them is killed by an ax in her home. A bit confusing with lots of characters and secrets.

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments Robert Bryndza's latest novel, Fear the Silence, is a standalone thriller that takes place on a remote Croation island in wild, stormy weather. English doctor Maggie is alone and terrified!

Carolyn | 2081 comments A Bird in Winter by Louise Doughty A Bird in Winter by Louise Doughty is a superbly written, atmospheric novel about a middle aged female spy who has to suddenly disappear when her career is compromised.

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments It isn't marketed as a thriller, but Blood by acclaimed Aussie Aboriginal author Tony Birch had me so nervous I couldn't stop reading. Little kids with a slack mother who keeps some seriously bad company makes for a scary read. Just terrific!
Blood (First Nations Classics) by Tony Birch My review of Blood

Sarah | 385 comments My review of The Twenty by UK author Sam Holland. While it's the second in her Major Crimes series, it effectively reads as a standalone, with only a small number of appearances of characters from its series predecessor, The Echo Man. It's a sometimes gory, but compulsively readable thriller!

Sarah | 385 comments My review of The Villa by Rachel Hawkins, a fascinating read drawing on influences such as Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's writing of Frankenstein in 1816, and the making of Fleetwood Mac's seminal 1977 album Rumours. A dual timeline (1974 and the present) mystery-thriller set in a stunning Umbrian villa.

Sarah | 385 comments My review of The Woman in Blue, #8 in Elly Griffiths's brilliant Dr. Ruth Galloway series. Not my favourite book in the series so far, due to the noticeable paucity of archaeological themes, but important for series progression, and still a great read!

Sarah | 385 comments Here's my review of Zero Days by Ruth Ware, a superlative standalone thriller from an author I've had a variable reaction to over the years. This one was (for me) an absolute winner!

Sarah | 385 comments Here's my review of Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead by Canadian author Emily R. Austin. It's a great read, but I'm in two minds about posting it in this group, as the mystery around one character's death is really only at sub-plot level.

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments My only regret with All the Devils Are Here is that Louise Penny set the story in Paris instead of Canada. All the family are together, though, and all are in life-threatening danger.
