I Don't Want to Be a Mom by Irene Olmo
The cover is cutesy, but the topic is serious. An interesting graphic memoir about a woman who isn't interested in becoming a mother. Expected more, but pretty good as is.

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments Water. We begin life in water, we are made up mostly of water, we play and exercise and refresh ourselves in water. The protagonist in award-winning Irish author John Boyne's new novel is both drawn to it and repelled by it. I'm biased - I always love his work. 😊

Carolyn | 9836 comments I can always count on J.D. Robb for a twisty murder and some good banter between her characters Eve and Peabody.

Praising the Surface Behind the Scenes of Reality TV by Tilila Relmani
A graphic novel exploring the behind-the-scenes of a reality TV show. Thought it would be more satirical but it tries to justify the relevance of such shows. Might work better for reality TV fans.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Ann Patchett's latest, Tom Lake is quite possibly the best novel of 2023, and I'm glad I have more of hers in my TBR. 5 BIG ★s
With thanks to the person who left a copy in the Henley Rd street library in Thirroul.

Carolyn | 9836 comments Psychological thriller All the Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham All the Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham starts off slowly with a woman struggling to get over the disappearance of her toddler son a year ago but delivers a good, twisty plot.

The Boatman suspenseful, traditionally-inspired ghost stories by Annalisa Crawford
Annalisa Crawford is one of my favourite indie authors for a reason. If you are a short story fan, do try this collection. Don't worry about the ghosts - it's not a horror book.

Carolyn | 9836 comments Past Lying (Karen Pirie #7) by Val McDermid Past Lying by Val McDermid is set in Edinburgh during the 2020 covid lockdown, perfectly capturing the strangeness of the time and the eeriness of an empty city.
