I read this last year and thought it was excellent!

This was in my top 5 of books for last year. Great choice! :)

Awesome. I've had it on my TBR for a long while, since I got the book years ago, but just never got to it.

I have to be honest: I didn't like it.
The world building was awesome, the use of 19th century language and style intriguing, some parts were engaging.
But overall it seemed to go nowhere for me and it became a chore just to finish it to read something else
Reviews are divided in this book, some people adore it, others he hated it.
As I see many people wanting to read it for this task, I am curious to know your opinions.

I tried reading Johnathan Strange and Mr. Norrel when it came out and abandoned it about 200 pages in. I later tried reading another Susanna Clarke book, and did not make it nearly that far. She is very well regarded, just not the writer for me.

Gaiman and Schwab both have that on their favorites lists, so that is definitely a contender for me.

I ended up reading The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane a few weeks ago for this prompt. What a lovely little book. So glad this prompt turned me on to it.

Sensitive: The Hidden Power of the Highly Sensitive Person in a Loud, Fast, Too-Much World
-Susan Cain had a review of the book on the back of the cover.

Thanks for this! I'm a big fan of Pratchett's and am curious to check it out. Did you see the article by his daughter: "My family and other Moomins: Rhianna Pratchett on her father's love for Tove Jansson"? It's on the Guardian website, dated 12 March 2018.

My fave authors are romance authors, so I took another idea from this thread and snooped their Goodreads which didn't help me a ton but I'll have to take some time to snoop their websites.

Written in the Stars was already on my tbr, but I Think I Might Love You and Grand Theft N.Y.E. (okay ALL sound fun!).
I'm trying to read through the Romance Writing Greats and Nalini Singh is an author I haven't read on that list so Slave to Sensation could cross two things off at once. I've heard it recommended in quite a few places by quite a few people but every time I read the description I think eh. For some reason, the paranormal thing doesn't super appeal to me but I don't wanna knock it before I try it.

I wont say any spoilers but this book has shook me and rung me out emotionally and I am only halfway through. I can't decide if I like the emotional reactions it is causing or not. I will say that it makes me VERY glad to be a queer person living in the present and not in the 1940's.
