Do you like autobiographies? I recently enjoyed So That Happened by Jon Cryer; Good Talk, Dad by Bill and Willie Geist; Promise Me, Dad by Joe Biden; Bossypants by Tina Fey. Also, The Greatest Generation Speaks by Tom Brokaw (a collection of letters sent to him by WWII veterans after the publication of his book The Greatest Generation).
the Scholomance series. These books are so good! But be prepared, the author loves huge plot twists and cliffhangers.
Murasaki Shikibu - The Tale of GenjiYukio Mishima - The Sound of Waves. The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea.
Natsume Soseki - I Am a Cat. Kokoro
Fumikio Enchi - The Waiting Years. A Tale of False Fortunes
Jun'ichirō Tanizaki - The Makioka Sisters. A Cat, A Man, and Two Women.
Yasunari Kawabata - Snow Country. Thousand Cranes.
Kobo Abe - The Woman in the Dunes
Yoko Ogawa - The Memory Police. The Housekeeper and the Professor.
Miyabe Miyuki - All She Was Worth
Eileen Chang - Half a Lifelong Romance. Love in a Fallen City
Luo Guanzhong - Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Cao Xueqin - Dream of the Red Chamber
Mo Yan - Red Sorghum
Can Xue - Dialogues in Paradise
Yu Ha - To Live. Chronicle of a Blood Merchant
Yiyun Li - The Vagrants
There are many great books, but your profile is private so it is hard to tell what you might like. Maybe you would like some od these:
The Loop
Beauty Is a Wound
Cutting for Stone
The White Masai
I'm trying to think of some books I've really enjoyed that in my experience people haven't heard of as often 🤔Fall of a Kingdom
Liar
The Door Within
The Journal of Curious Letters
Airman
A Long Walk to Water
Forgotten Fire
Four Treasures of the Sky
House of Dark Shadows
Well, my list is already too long, but maybe if you all say a couple of words about each of the above I'd consider them. ;)I'll just recommend anything by Michael Perry. Whether you like memoirs, philosophical essays, fiction, explorations of rural life, let me know and I'll tell you where to start. He's the one author I buy books directly from, rather than using library or hunting thrifted copies.
