What Are You Reading 2015 Edition

I liked it a lot, you didn't. It's why there are lots of books in the bookstore/ library/ Kindle.

I read Moxyland this summer and liked it a lot.

Here my review of 3rd book in Hitchhiker's guide to galaxy.

I have this novel and I've had it for a while glad to know its good. I'll have to put it on my TBR challenge for 2016. :)

Yesterday I read It's a Hard Life, It's a Good Life by Meta Watts about twelve dairy farmers in my county and their lives, which is brand new and apparently not on Goodreads yet.

I already delved a bit into The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Tales, and I also want to crack open Inferno before the end of the year.
So many good books, so little time.

currently aiming to read science fiction, non fiction and classics.
currently reading "The man who mistook his wife for a hat "

Now I'm continuing my Halloween read with Skeleton Crew.

I finally finished You're Never Weird on the Internet and really loved it. If not for Felicia Day, you'd likely not be reading this post. Her work has had such a positive effect on my life, including introducing me to goodreads. (My Review)
I also read Lumberjanes, Vol. 2, which I enjoyed more than the first volume. (My Review)

I have said this before, but I thought Dresden Files book 1 is very bland, and book 2 is just outright bad. The series picks up eventually and gets really good, but the early books have serious problems.
His fantasy series(Codex Alera) he did the first book was solid pretty good, and the series got a little bit better and peaked in book 4-5 of 6.
Aeronauts Windlass I thoroughly enjoyed it was certainly his strongest opening book, the only issue I had with it, was it was very much a first book in a series, and it wouldn't really work standalone at all.

Papaphilly, finished flashback and loved it.
I am always getting material from this site, thank you all.

I started to read Maailma, vihreä metsä (The Word for World is Forest) and I really hope it's better than the other Hainish cycle books I've read so far in the exception of The Left Hand of Darkness which I liked a lot. The other two I've read from the series were just plain boring and bit too similar in my mind.

Dresden files get better as you keep reading and it hits a stride after book 6.

This must be one of those books that you either love or hate. It is garnering tons of opinions, so it seems to be a book not to ignore. I have not personally read it and did not want to at first, but now I am intrigued from the conversations about it.

2001: A Space Odyssey - I've had this for decades, and just now read it. Great read, even if you've seen the movie umpteen times. Excellent insight to what's going on underneath Kubrick's visuals. 5/5
InterWorld - a fair to midland YA book co-authored by Neil Gaiman. Story of a boy caught up in a war through and between dimensions between forces of science and magic. Turns out it's a trilogy, but probably not compelling enough for me to continue. 3/5

Shares a universe with To Say Nothing of the Dog which is delightful in every way.

The Connie Willis time travel novels also include Doomsday Book. The time periods they travel to are different, but some of the characters and the situation are the same.

Taking a little break from sci-fi and fantasy to read a couple books others have given me. I'm not really a Sedaris fan but I'll try.

I came to the same conclusions. I think that Willis needed a better editor to encourage her to make everything tighter. My only other experience with her was the short story "The Last of the Winnebagos," which I loved. I was afraid that maybe Willis just doesn't have the knack for the longer form, but your recommendation of To Say Nothing of the Dog gives me hope.

Doomsday Book was the first of hers that I ever read and I still think it was the best. Her later books do tend to jump around and be over full of characters.

What a great start to a book. Its a real bobby dazzler. Great characters, strong plot and lots of action.
Its a good as a Gemmell at this stage.

I’ve been reading the First Law books myself over the past several weeks. I loved the trilogy. I was slightly less enthusiastic about the first two standalones set after the trilogy, but I’m halfway through the third standalone now (Red Country) and I’m enjoying it as much as I enjoyed the trilogy.
