Page numbers with source
How book qualified, with links or cover as necessary.

Rating/Review.

**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. MountainKat | 31593 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 12, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1697 comments Hi Stacey! I've done this challenge a couple of times and it's so fun. We have to brainstorm as a team to come up with decisions for tasks that require things like months, location, author that has all of us reading the same. I'm going to list the tasks in the next post so they are on the first page. Then I'll copy the ones we need to brainstorm with my choices and if everyone would do the same we could have a jump start in case those tasks are randomly chosen.

We also need a captain who can organize our posts and post completion of the tasks in the proper thread. I'm not a good captain as I only get on my laptop on Thursdays and post most everything else from my phone which is super hard to use for something like this because of the copy/pasting/linking things that need done. Hopefully one of the other team members are up for the challenge of keeping us organized LOL.

Apoorva (bookishcrack) | 502 comments Hi all! I have done this challenge only once before, but a reallyyy long time ago but I was very competitive back then and we won too ig XD

This time I am willing to go at any pace we all agree on since I am also packed with college work at the moment. I am fine with being the captain but sometimes I might not get a chance to log in for 15-16 hours due to classes and deadlines.
I really love doing the tasks for this challenge though and I'd love to get a headstart on some of the tasks as Christina mentioned!

We can all post our preferences of authors/genres etc. here so that we know some common points. We can also get to know if we avoid reading any type of books, just to be sure?

message 9: by Apoorva (new)

Apoorva (bookishcrack) | 502 comments One more thing - we also have to come up with a team name! We can share our suggestions in this thread only. I am cool with anything that goes well with the theme :D

message 10: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31593 comments Just waiting on Emily to check in. 😊

Remember to let me know who is going to be the team leader - it is really very simple for this challenge! Mostly just guiding discussions when team decisions need to be made.

message 11: by Stacey (last edited Apr 08, 2022 06:07PM) (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 223 comments I am no good with team names, so I shall leave that decision up to everyone else. :)

I'm on the laptop most days, and on GR way more than I should be during a day, so I don't mind doing linking and checking in for captain stuff. Just not sure I'd be able to guide strategy, so if you all can handle that part, I can do the bookkeeping.

I know in other challenges in this group, the books must be MPG romance. Is that true with this one as well? NVM, I found the answer.

message 12: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1697 comments Ok I'm terrible at names but here are a few ideas...

--Smells Like Pre-Teen Spirit (because, like, we're only twelve)
-- Insert Clever Team Name Here
-- Will Run For Books

Ok that's all I got.

message 15: by Emily (new)

Emily | 1917 comments I like the names, insert clever team name here is the one that stands out the most.

I have done a lot of challenges but not sure I have done this specific one.

message 16: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 223 comments I like Insert Clever Team Name Here as well. Let's go with that.

message 17: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 223 comments I've been spying on some other threads. Some of them have the tasks that will need some sort of consensus pulled out. I was thinking I could post those here and have everyone give an idea of their choices? Or would you all prefer to make decisions as we get tasks?

Are we settled on the name?
Would it be easiest if I captain?

message 18: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1697 comments Sounds good Stacey. I've been working on ones that we need to decide as a team. I'll post them in a couple of minutes then everyone else can do the same.

message 19: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1697 comments 1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.
Some ideas of multi-genre authors Nora Roberts, Lisa Kleypas, Erin McCarthy, Kristen Callihan, Kelley Armstrong, Jennifer Ashley

9. Each player reads a book in the same series, teams decide. No pass for this task.
This is a really hard one...In Death by Nora Roberts. I'll read a book from any series chosen unless it's NA. I really don't like NA.

Stacey--member since Mar 03, 2017

64. Read 6 books not set on a continent of a teammate. Space does not count - must be a real continent.
I think 3 of us are in North America and Apoorva is in Asia. That leaves Europe which would be pretty easy or we could go with Australia for something a little different.

70. Read a minimum of 1200 pages in books of the same sub-genre, but by different authors.
I prefer paranormal and romantic suspense but could find something in anything but NA please.

71. Pick another team and each member reads one book that was read by a member for this challenge. No pass for this task.

79. Read 6 books that have the same romance trope, teams decide which trope.
How does Enemies to Lovers sound? It's one of my favorites LOL but I'm open.

80. Read 4 books initially published in different decades.
I'll read anything from 1990's to 2020s.

82. Each teammate reads a different book from the same series.
This is hard. If anyone has any ideas please speak up. I know in the past my teams suggested something like JD Robb's In Death because there are over 50 books. I'll find something if someone has suggestions. If it's new to me I usually prefer to read book 1. Also I really don't care for NA.

88. Read 6 books with a boat, plane, car or motorcycle on the cover, teams decide which.
Car would be easier for me but Motorcycle is intriguing

90. Each member reads a book published in sequential months, i.e. June, July, August and September 2019. Teams decide which months. No pass for this task.
I'm good with the examples June, July, August, and September 2019

Shy Heroines of Contemporaryy Romance/a>
First Titles in Adult Paranormal Urban Fantasy Series
Unpredictable Pairings and Strong Heroines
High Fantasy Romance Series

94. Read 6 books published in sequential years, teams decide years.
I prefer to read something in the last 6-8 years but not 2022. So how about 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020?

95. As a team, select an animal. Read 8 books tagged with that animal.
Dog is my choice

96. Read a minimum of 1200 pages with the sun or the moon on the cover, teams decide which.
Moon--from personal experience there are a lot of moon covers but when it comes to the sun there are lots of daytime covers but not a lot with an actual sun on it.

I have so many but am choosing one from different genre/subgenres for variety

Apoorva (bookishcrack) | 502 comments I am bus for a few hours today, so I'll get to the tasks in a while. I have read through Christina's list, and thankfully, there's nothing to worry about regarding birth decade.

I was born in 2002 in February, so I feel that should work. And I feel so young now since you are my father's age 🙈

Stacey (boydsmom) | 223 comments I'll get my list done tonight when I get home from work -- they get cranky if I spend too long on GR. ;)

Would it help if I put all the links/lists all together in one post? I have some time, I put them in my fist post.

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1697 comments Stacey-- one post with everything together wound be great.

Stacey and Apoorva-- thank you both for volunteering to captain (co-captaining?)

Emily-- I like your additions with the Author ones. I like Lynsay Sands and Rachel Gibson a lot. The one book I read by Kristen Ashley (The Gamble) was so good. I also read the first 2 books in Penny Reid's Knitting in the City books and also found them so good. I loved Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels series so much. It's probably my favorite UF series ever. I'm all caught up on it but am only half way through the Hunters Guild series by Nalini Singh. Great suggestions. Minette Walters... it's been a hot minute since I read one of her books. Nice to see one on your list.

Apoorva--2002 is a much better reading year than mine or Emily's (just my opinion of course.)

Out of list submitted would be intetested in Lisa Kleypas,Erin McCarthy. Have not tried Kristen Callihan but would read her or jennifer Ashley. Also interested in Lynsey Sands, Rachel Gibson, Kristen Ashley, Penny Reid
I'm good with pretty much any of these. I'd lean Lisa Kleypas, Nora Roberts, Kristen Ashely of the ones mentioned. I'd also like to throw Mariana Zapata into the mix as most of hers are stand alones.

9. Each player reads a book in the same series, teams decide. No pass for this task.
I have a couple of series I have been wanting to start-Magic Bites-Ilona Andrews Angels Blood by Nalini Singh, am open to what everyone wants to agree on.
I'm up to date on Magic Bites and In Death -- but they are two of my favs, so always up for a re read. :) I think Rock Chicks (8 books) and Mercy Thompson (12 books?) might be good options too.

12. Read a book recommended to you by a teammate - no pass for this task.

Sure. How do we go about finding a book that specific?

50. Read 6 books set in the same location, teams decide the location.
New York? - Or california those seem the easiest to find
London would probably be pretty easy if you all wanted to go historical

51. Each teammate reads a different book by the same author, no pass for this task.
I will read Nora Roberts but not a big fan of hers-I will do it if everyone wants though
Is this the same task as #1? I would say we can go with one of the author's we listed for that task.

Blue? Red? - Both are easy to find
As long as its not yellow or brown, I can find something.

Portland, Oregon here
Pittsburgh PA or Raleigh NC are my two options -- not too many options, although there is a hockey romance series set in Raleigh

Some diverse authors who write over several genres...Nora Roberts, Kristen Callihan, Jennifer Ashley
Add Kresley Cole, Alexandra Ivy

Kat will assign our tasks. I think she uses a randomizer. All teams start with the same task and then we're off. As soon as we, as a team, complete the task and post our completion in the main thread, Kat will give us a new task. There is a minimum of one full day between each task for those teams who are speedy and super competitive and finish up each task in a day. I'm not a fast reader and often take several days to read one book which is why I tend to ask for a laid back team.

Tattoo artist

33. Read 6 books in the same sub-genre, teams decide.

50. Read 6 books set in the same location, teams decide the location.
New York/California/ Any place which has many books set there XD

51. Each teammate reads a different book by the same author, no pass for this task.
Nora Roberts works for me. Mariana Zapata is another good one. Then there's J.R. Ward, Christina Lauren etc. I won't mind reading a new author either.

53. Each teammate reads a book set in one of your teammates' home town (born in, raised in, currently live in - all work), teams decide. No pass for this task.

Anything works for me.

55. Read 6 books set in the same country outside the US, teams decide country.
Ideas: England, Scotland, Spain, France.

Any of the previous lists works for me.

Stacey (boydsmom) | 223 comments I think I've got most of the important stuff from our answers listed in my first post -- under MKs 4. Let me know if I missed anything that would be helpful to have on had up there. (I'll get my 5 star reads on a list sometime this week and add it)

Now You See Her by Linda Howard
Pages: 372
Completed: 4/15/22
Rating/Review: 4 stars -- If anyone needs a good book that was published in the 90s, but doesn't feel too dated, this is a good one. Kind of romantic suspense light with a little psychic action thrown in.

Book: Midnight
Author: Terry Bolryder
Pages: 257 pages
Fits: Blue on the cover
Finished: 4/16/22
Rating: 4 Stars
Midnight (Nightmare Dragons, #1) by Terry Bolryder
Review: I've been on a Terry Bolryder kick for the last few months. They tend to be short, fluffy, Paranormal romances featuring shifters. This book/series is a bit different. It's not as light hearted as her other books I've read. It's the first book in her Nightmare Dragon series and it's darker and longer than what I've read before by her. I still enjoyed it so much and I want to jump right into the second book but can't 😭.

It took a long time for Nathan to show his true form to Lillian... actually it took a long time for him to open up period. This is also a little different. In Onyx Dragon, Zach, the Onyx Dragon, was like, "I'm a dragon baby. Bow down to my awesomeness." within 5 minutes of meeting Erin. So this book was quite different and I loved it so much.

I will not stop spreading the word about this author. Some of her books are better than others and can be a little spicy. All are Paranormal romances featuring shifters (everything from Bears to Basilisks with lots and lots of Dragons) but all are available with KU which I love.
