1 ~ Be our go-to person should we have any questions about your team
2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)
2a ~ Create a master list in a post (preferably on the first page of your team's thread) and update it weekly or as often as necessary
2b ~ Post your team's stats on the Captain's Log prior to requesting a stamp
3 ~ Encourage and motivate your team (you may also ask to borrow Judithe's whip whenever necessary)
4 ~ Post regularly to ensure your team is communicating and on track each week
4a ~ Send them a PM and friendly poke if they haven't posted at least once a week, noted their book choice, and/or appear to have dropped out of webspace
5 ~ Send us a PM (Steph, Sandra or Judithe) should you need us for any reason throughout the game

I'd rather not be captain this round but am happy to be playing.
For team names, any ideas?
Fifteen Minutes of (Book) Fame?
Chapter XV ?

I'm ok with being captain if Louise doesn't want to do it.
Leah I like either of those names but I'm leaning towards Chapter XV :-)

Shelf #1 ~ 2 Feb 2022: Sci-Fi Romance

Visions in Death by J.D. Robb
Read: 02/13/22
Rated: 5 stars
Review: I have to say this was another favorite. Eve really opens up in this book. She seems to be learning more and more about what it means to have close people that she calls friends even though there is a serial killer out there murdering innocent women, Eve will fight for the dead. There was a funny moment, a heartbreaking one and a twisted one which really pissed me off that I don't even know how Eve didn't lose it. I really enjoyed all the crazy things that go on in this series and I can't wait to continue it.

Shelf #2: Alternate Reality/Universe

Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews

I liked this one! For me, sometimes sci-fi can get a little too technical (and then boring) but this one did a really good job of establishing the setting in a way that was natural and not too much info-dumping. The first half of this book was definitely better than the second half though. The romance part sort of fizzled at the end, rather than going out with a bang (not literally ;-) ).
I'll probably take a look at Book 2 in the series should a shelf come up that would work for it.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

I'd heard great things about this series and loved other books written by Holly Black, and this book didn't let me down at all. The author's writing and how she weaves in worldbuilding is really well done.
I will admit - at first, I wasn't a huge fan of the main character (Jude) and was worried she'd be a bit whiny throughout the novel. However, that quickly turned around once they'd established her back story and she started taking action to improve her life. One of the most impressive feats of this book is making us like a main character who makes bad decisions - even at times Jude herself admitted it was a bad decision but she did it anyways. It made sense though, based on who she was.
My 0.5 star deduction would be for the brief romance plotline with one of the characters. Seemed like there was supposed to be a bit of a twist near the end related to this, but you saw it coming a mile away.
I can't wait to read the next one!

For me, this was an all-over 'meh' book to me. There were good things - it did draw me in and keep me reading, and I feel they kept up the sexual tension for quite a while considering how quickly and frequently things got physical. But, there was nothing really substantial and I didn't love Chloe, our female lead. In every romance novel, there's always something pulling the two character apart. In this case, it was that Bennett (the lead man) was Chloe's boss, and that if people found out, they would think she was sleeping her way to the top. She valued her credibility and couldn't handle that implication. What I disliked was that at the end of the novel, I didn't really feel it was resolved. They still have that problem and it's more like they just decided 'we'll figure it out'. For me, there should be some resolution.
I'm not sure I would read the next one in the series (which is not about the same couple, I don't think).

Hahaha I totally understand that 😉

I have to admit it wasn’t until halfway through this book that I realised when this was written. Set in a “perfect” world where humans are cloned and conditioned from the fetal stage, independent thoughts are discouraged and drug use accepted as a norm. The concepts within the book are futuristic for its time but are extremely relevant in todays society. I really enjoyed this book it is definitely thought provoking.

This was another great installment in the series, this time Eve is investigating the death of a young priest during a funeral service. As expected nothing is as it seems and as the investigation continues on it's fast paced path secrets are uncovered that lead to a con being worked for nearly seven years which starts and ends with a death.

Review: Betsy is definitely unstable or maybe her world of past, present and future. There’s a mess that needs to be fixed or figured out and of course Betsy is the one who is in the middle of it. She becomes undone but with all the craziness she manages to make you laugh. Though these stories are quirky, I still find her craziness funny.
