Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments Hiya, Team Caps! Thanks for volunteering to guide your team through a round of BookShelf Bingo!

Your job, should you choose to accept it, will require a few things:
1 ~ Be our go-to person should we have any questions about your team
2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)
2a ~ Create a master list in a post (preferably on the first page of your team's thread) and update it weekly or as often as necessary
2b ~ Post your team's stats on the Captain's Log prior to requesting a stamp
3 ~ Encourage and motivate your team (you may also ask to borrow Judithe's whip whenever necessary)
4 ~ Post regularly to ensure your team is communicating and on track each week
4a ~ Send them a PM and friendly poke if they haven't posted at least once a week, noted their book choice, and/or appear to have dropped out of webspace
5 ~ Send us a PM (Steph, Sandra or Judithe) should you need us for any reason throughout the game

Either of you have a name suggestion... Team #4 , hmmmm

message 7: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 188 comments Hey, Trinia and Laura, it's so nice to see both of you and be on a team together. I think we could go with 3 or 4 if we want to play off the numbers for our team. I'll think on it and see if I can come up with anything.

message 8: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1168 comments I'm here! No name ideas. I alway suck at that. I would rather not be captain, as I"m captaining Uno and that takes up a bunch of time.

message 9: by Trinia (new)

Trinia | 837 comments Yes! So happy to see you ladies here. ❤️
If no one else wants to captain I can do it. I’m working and moving our son out of state in the next week, so it might not be the most timely posts, but I would get the job done 😆

I like Four Keeps or Four the love of Bingo.

Went to see Spiderman: No Way Home last night, and then spent the night sick as a dog. My daughter started the morning by also throwing up, but I think we're both doing a bit better, so I'm ready for Bingo to start!

Thanks for volunteering for captain, Trinia.

Oh no! Did you enjoy the movie at least?

No problem, I can't wait for the first call. I'll be out tonight but will post as soon as I return home. Call is at 6 eastern time, So hoping it will be up before I go!

Hope everyone is prepared for this weather! Texas will get some ice and snow and we are not prepared locally. Growing up in Buffalo, it will be nothing, but down here everything freezes and breaks. Should be interesting... hoping work gets canceled and I can read instead!

We have to pick a book off of one of the shelves, unless you choose the
Alternative Reader's Choice Options
(Only 2 allowed per person, per round; 1 teammate per shelf)
~ "Hail Mary" (inspired by Valerie ~Val Hall~) ~ players may read a book that should have been shelved on one of the called shelves, but wasn't found there
~ Third book in a series
~ Book by an Author with F, M or T in first or last name

message 17: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1168 comments You just need to find a book that is tagged Sci-Fi Romance. The Goodreads shelf cuts off at 25 pages (use to be 100!), but there are usually more books that have the tag. If you think your book could have it, you can look through the tags of that book.

message 18: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1168 comments I should be getting Aurora's End from the library any day now. I'm first on the list! It is tagged Sci Fi Romance by 2 people (6th page of tags), and is 512 pages.

message 19: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1168 comments For my Free Space book: The In Death series is mentioned in the Audiobook thread. If my library gets it to me in a timely manner, I will read Abandoned in Death, 368 pages. It releases on 2/8, so if it takes them a bit to get it processed, I'll pick something else.

Trinia | 837 comments I'm looking at a few different books for my Free space, I've narrowed it down to The Body by Stephen King or The Inheritance Games (The Inheritance Games, #1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes both of which are on the SOS bookshelf

For my SciFi-Romance I think I'm going to read Aurora Rising (The Aurora Cycle, #1) by Amie Kaufman .

Trying to match multiple challenges is what is making me undecided! lol.

Yes! And I've had this one for a while , I have a terrible habit of collecting books and not reading them. I jump on them when there is a sale.
I got the idea from your selection, thanks for that ! ;)

message 26: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1168 comments You made me realize I need to re-read the first 2 before I get the 3rd from the library!

message 27: by Trinia (new)

Trinia | 837 comments I always need the refreshers before starting a book further along in a series, it’s why I’ve been holding off The Sarah Maas “Court” series.

message 28: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1168 comments You can read those now. The upcoming books are about side characters from the original trilogy!

The Body by Stephen King
Book: The Body

Date Read: 2/5/22
How it Fits: On the SOS Bookshelf
Rating: 4 Stars
Review:
Of course now I want to watch the movie again! Having not seen the movie in a while I still remember those keys scenes. Differences I noted between the book and movie are a few deleted scenes in the movie (as always). King had a few more “stories” written by Gordie in the book. One very sexual “wet dream” sort of story that I was glad didn’t make the cut for the movie, as it really changed the feel of the book. The book also went a bit deeper into life than the movie which well pretty true to life . Good book/story, not 5 stars because of the odd and lengthy sex story that I really could have skipped and not missed much.

I'm glad you like it! I'm listening to it, again, as well!

Shall we go with Four the Love of Reading? That's my favorite.

Laura | 1168 comments I'm going to switch my Sci-Fi Romance book. I have Aria's Ascension checked out from KU. It's 331 pages, and is shelved Sci-Fi Romance by 4 people. And no waiting for the library!

This way I can save Aurora's End for another shelf. I'm sure it will fit more.

Review: It took me awhile to get around to this one. I really enjoyed the first one, but this series is so very different from her Chosen series that I have to work my way up to each one. It has a heavier subject matter, and my first Stacy Jones was such a feel good read that I have a hard time reconciling the differences in my head. That being said, I did enjoy this book and will definitely continue the series.

Book: Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Review: So glad I picked this one up! I had grabbed the audiobook months ago with an Audible deal. Having read others by these authors I was interested. The audiobook is fabulous! I love the full cast with immersive audio effects. So well done and easy to follow (which can be hard with a fantasy audio). This was a fantastic start to a new to me series. The world development has drawn me in and the characters will keep me wanting more.
Solid 5 stars!

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 188 comments Hey team, my sincere apologies! I was on vacation and long story short I ended up with Covid last Thursday. We got home on Friday and since then I've been doing well but been sleeping a lot. I feel terrible because I completely forgot about this challenge and I'm so sorry.

When does my Sci-fi Romance book need to be posted or is it too late?

Trinia | 837 comments No worries Vicki! I hope your feeling better 😊

I’ll be watching for our next Shelf call. I’m on the road all day, driving my son from Texas to Kentucky to relocate for his job.
Hoping to get some reading done but I did get caught up on my 2 spots available ☺️

message 45: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1168 comments Aurora's End is tagged Alternate Reality by 1 person (not me!)! on the 21st page of tags!

I'll probably aim to not have it finished before Tuesday, since the Uno mini-challenge starts that day. My team has a lot of lower book/month readers, so I think I'm going to end up doing at least half the tasks there, so I'm holding off on finishing whatever I can. :)
