Book: Without Reservations by J.L.Langley
Finished: 3/19/2015
Rating: 2.5 - 3 stars
Review: This was my first book by J.L. Langley. The whole setting was promising, with the non-gay native -american werewolve who found his mate but turned out to be a bit disapponting. The sex scenes were many and boring. The pet was adorable. I'm going to read the next book in the series, as I'd like to find out more about Jake's and Remi's mating.
You Slay Me by Katie MacAlister

Shelf: Shifter
Rating: 3 stars
It felt like it took me forever to read. I think the 3 stars are pretty generous rating considering that I didn't find this book very entertaining.
It's about my preferences really that I don't care much about chick-lit style cozy mysteries. They tend to feature a cute but clueless heroine who does a lot of stupid things and gets away with it by sheer luck. Like in this book. It really was just a cozy mystery with paranormal characters in it and a prime example of a clueless heroine who, of course, solved the murder mystery but only after too many mishaps and lucky escapes. Yeah, I might be the minority here, but I didn't like Aisling the Guardian and the dragon wasn't that hot either.
The only bright spot in the story was the smartass demon Newfie Jim and maybe the third star was for him and for Paris :)
Totally understandable Skandia. Katie Mac is a bit hit or miss for me, or maybe its the mood I'm in when I read her. Jim and his longing for a poodle and all the trouble he causes throughout the series is the best bits IMO.
Great reading this week ladies... Sorry, been traveling this weekend and wifi was hit or miss... Finished my book yesterday and will try get my thoughts together for a review. Sorry, Aisling didn't work out for you Skandia. I thinks it's one of those must be in the mood for reads... I usually save these silly funny ones to break up the heavy UF reads.

Book: Kodiak's Claim by Eve Langlais
Date Read: 3/21/2015
Shelf: Shifter
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Review: This is the first book in the Kodiak Point series which takes place in wilds of Alaska. Tammy is a human insurance investigator with a bad track record with men, sent to Alaska to follow-up on the claim of three missing shipping trucks from Beark Enterprises. Of course this is a shifter company and community run by the Kodiak bear alpha, Reid and his collection of bears, wolves, foxes and moose shifters. It is soon realized that the attacks are more than a grab of goods, but a challenge by mysterious alpha after Reid's position. Reid has to overcome his own internal struggle of shifter hierarchy and politics to make a play for city girl Tammy. Overall a little cheesy on the storyline and the references to Tammy's large girl status were a little overdone, but still an entertaining read. Included some funny parts which you expect from EL books and since its a PNR read, you get the HEA ending...

Review:
I did enjoy this book despite feeling that the plot dragged in a few places. Then again if I actually used the Goodreads shelving options I doubt paranormal romance would be my first thought, simply because of the ratio of steamy scenes to actual plot development was a bit more line with erotica, so perhaps over analysing the plot line is a mistake... Overall I actually had a few minor complaints about this book but it was still definitely worth a read and I expect I will check out book 2 regardless.

Third and my favorite book in Magnus Pack series featuring last of the three crazy girlfriends, the beautiful human hellcat Angelina.
Kidnapped for her own protection by shifter tigers brothers, she catches an eye of the oldest one - Nik.
Not an easy prey even for a tiger, Angelina's and Nik's attraction jumped off the pages. Even their fighting written with snarky and witty dialogues was hot and kept the tension going. Not to mention it really made me laugh. They were definitely good fit for each other.
I also loved that both Miki and Sara with their mates were included in the story and helped providing some more snark and fun shifer fights.

Third and my favorite book in Magnus Pack series..."
I'm glad you enjoyed it! This is my favorite in the Magnus Pack series, as well!! I need to re-read this series sometime soon ;)
Love Nik and what he does to his brother, continuously and then Angelina joins in as well with the baseball. LOL. And the toilet seat scene.

I'll probably try some other series by Laurenston, too.

Review: October Daye is a mission, to check on Sylvester's niece Countess January O'Leary. Along goes Quentin, the young Sylvester's foster, in order to see how things work. Toby had the help of some friends but didn't do a great job and got hurt.
This second book had a "And then there were none" feeling. I didn't enjoyed it as much as the first book Rosemary and Rue, probably because there weren't many hints in order to solve the mystery. I really enjoy reading about Tybalt, the King of the Cait Sidhe, though and hopefully he'll have a bigger part in next books.

Review: This is the seventh book in the Pride series and is full of SL's typicall shifter humor with a mix of abusive and violent situations. The heroine is Cella also known in the shifter hockey world as "Bare Knuckles" Malone a she-tiger and enforcer for the Carnivore's team, and a contractor for the KZS shifter ops group who gets involved with a change phobic Polar bear shifter Lou Crushek known as Crush to his friends. He is also a hockey fanatic and an undercover cop who's cover has been blown, so he finds himself working for the paranormal unit with Dez McDermott and also the KZS and The Group... and Cella... Of course the books starts off with both H/h waking up nekkid after a round of JellO shots at Dez' party, unbeknown to him it's "Bare Knuckles", then Cella's family trying to fix her up so Crush becomes her "pretend boyfriend" and it just goes crazy from there as the KZS, cops and Group are chasing leads on a human hunting club that drugs and uses shifters as targets... This was one of my favorites from the series and loved seeing a lot of the other characters back and woven into this book.
Almost shelf day again.... I went on to the next Shelly Laurenston book and it was equally good. If your in the mood for shifter silliness, SLis your gal... And BDB's latest came out today, which was a week earlier than expected but I'm not complaining. Anyone squeeze a good read or two in between shelves? There are a couple of teams that are lined up for bingo already, but again I hope Mr. R picks other shelves. No witches or armed shelf please...
Danielle have you picked your PNR or S books yet?
Haven't heard anything from Danielle for a long time now. I hope she is still playing with us and reading her books.
Shelf Announcement!! And my personal fav... Six Pack Attack. Read a book with abs of steel on the cover...
To balance out my very serious and so far sad BDB book... I'm going with another furry and hopefully somewhat funny... For the pretty abs...
or
I'll see which one grabs me more...
I actually forgot that I had not posted what I was reading for the others- I am in the middle of the following two books:

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and find myself looking forward to reading the rest of the series. The characters are interesting (some more than others- I find myself already taking sides with the romantic interests but will see how it all plays out). Overall the book just worked and was very absorbing.

I had forgotten how much I adore Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress world (I read that series first and still refer to it as such) and the characters in general. I don't remember the first book in this series very well (I am going back to reread it now though) but I really loved this one. Great character, excellent world and a compelling plot - definitely a 5 star read for me.

Review:
This was an enjoyable read though far from my favourite book set in the Night Huntress world. Excellent characters and some fantastic lines throughout though. Well worth a read but I am glad that this one is a standalone as opposed to a series as I think the lead characters and their relationship were more suited to that.

Review: This is the fourth book in Grayslake series and follows the Itans younger brother bear shifter Isaac, the clans healer. This occurs about a year after the hyena battle and Isaac still suffers the aftermath due to the bad scars he was left with while healing everyone first. Because females of his clan cannot get past the scars, he plans to leave and travel with the region healer in hopes he may find a mate. That plan is thwarted when a little semi-blind weremole Kira moves in next door and the insta mate attraction hits. Kira is running and hiding from her Alpha, also her father and his abusive son. I enjoy this series and the Abrams family members who make an appearance in this book. Found the premise that his clan females being so shallow because of his scaring a little lame, along with the weremole prey living in the midst of wolves and bears a little odd, but the rest of the story still worked.

Review: First book in a new SL series, yay! This was not a romance novel, it was more UF. The story was not much, it was the setup for the series and getting to know the characters. There were too many characters, world setting, Nordic mythology/or at least SL's version of it, since I don't know anything about nordic mythology. SL's humor was present, the heroines/the crows were fierce, the dog was awesome, the hero Vig was great. I enjoyed it and hopefully the next installments will be great.
