I'll be surprised if this one doesn't win some more awards. Auē, by Becky Manawatu is centred around a contemporary Maori family. Loved it!

My 3 star review of Undercurrent
by Sara K. Parker:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Overall, this romantic suspense novel was enjoyable. While there is plenty of danger and suspense, nothing distinguished it from other novels.
I'm ashamed I know so little about Alexander von Humboldt, who explained how important it is to know that everything is connected in nature. Thanks to Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, I know more. Get this into the hands of kids!

I finally finished Upgrade
. I really struggled with the first half of this book, but I thought it was well-written overall and an interesting story. It certainly makes you think and would be good for discussing. my Upgrade review
Here is my 3.51 rounded to 4 stars review of Enchant the Dawn
by Amanda Ashley:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Paranormal romantic suspense.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Oh what an unexpected find! I haven't laughed so hard in ages, loved it!
I’m currently through a free trial on audible and the book is by Rosamunde Pilcher the day of the storm Quite good I give it three stars
And in my kindle I’m reading a few samples till I find one I can get my interest in
What's not to like in a Mick Herron novella? You don't know have to know Herron's work to enjoy poor old 'retired' spook John Bachelor's dilemma in The Catch.
4.5★ My review
Secondhand Time: The Last of the Soviets by Svetlana Alexievich, who had received the Nobel Prize in Literature shortly after this book's publication. This nonfiction is a compilation of oral histories documenting momentous periods in the 20th century history of the USSR and of the aftermath of its dissolution in 1991. Plenty of criminal acts but without the justice delivered in crime fiction.

My 4.27 star review rounded to 4 stars of The Pier
by Matt Brolly:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This is a British crime drama / police procedural. The narrative is suspenseful with a creative, absorbing, complex, and well-paced plot with some twists that will keep a reader guessing. This is the fifth book in the series, and it is best read in order.
My 3.29 star review rounded to 3 stars for Wicked Ways
by Lisa Jackson and Nancy Bush:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
While I enjoyed this one and the premise was interesting, it didn’t quite deliver up to my expectations.
Esther wrote: "Currently reading The Night Ship.I like it but am not yet sure if it is anything more."
I'm about halfway through as well, Esther. I think I like it - but I'm not 'there' yet.
My Name Is Yip by Paddy Crewe is the off-beat 'memoir' of a most unusual character. Yip is like no one I've ever met (or am likely to meet), and I loved the way he told his story of early nineteenth century America.
4★ My review of My Name is Yip
Shakespeare's Tales Retold for Children by Samantha Newman is a great collection of 16 plays, also available as individual books. Simple language, entertaining cartoon illustrations, characters of all colours. Great for kids and new readers of English.
4.5~5★ My review of the set with a few illustrations
The Quiet American My introduction to Graham Greene was a success. I had this on my list after reading through the George Smiley series.
My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4886505380
Jess Kidd has taken the difficult history of the 17th century Dutch ship 'Batavia' and tied it to a contemporary Australian story through two wonderful nine-year-old children. The Night Ship is well-researched and beautifully written, with a little bit of magical realism readers should love.

I just finished Steelheart
. I thought it was pretty good, except for all the exclamations of "Stars!" and "Calamity!" They got very tiresome. I listened while traveling with my grandson and he's looking forward to the rest of the trilogy. I'm now reading The Vanishing Half
. I'm about halfway and think it's really good. I was surprised by how many perspectives it was told from.

I liked learning a bit more of DCI Vera Stanhope's background in The Woman on the Island, a short story by Ann Cleeves. Why did the daughter of a petty crim become a cop?

A Thousand Brains: A New Theory of Intelligence by Jeff HawkinsThe author had invented the Palm Pilot, a handheld computer, in 1992. He is interested in human intelligence as it relates to computing and AI.

I reckon
Neil Armstrong
deserved better than he got from Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara in this addition to a children's biographical series I am usually enthusiastic about.
3.4★ My review with some pictures
I loved
The Secret Life of Birds
by Moira Butterfield. it is an entertaining delight for kids and their grown-ups. The fact that it's full of information doesn't hurt either (meaning I learned things 😊).

My review of Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevensonhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Mick Herron's Slough House series is the perfect mix of political intrigue, action, and humour. Here the Slow Horses are up against some Bad Actors indeed. Love it!

Here is my 4 star review of Kit McBride Gets a Wife
by Amy Barry.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This is a historical romance that combines romance and humor in a historical western setting. While the plot is straightforward, the book is full of laugh-out-loud humor as well as some more somber moments. The world-building was great, and the author captured the cultural lifestyles and portrayed them well.
My 4.45 --> rounded to 4 stars review of A Cornish Recipe for Murder
by Fiona Leitch:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Fiona Leitch brings a death, a baking show, and some humor to the fifth book in the Nosey Parker cozy mystery series set mainly on the grounds of Boskern House in Cornwall, England. A well-plotted story with characters that feel emotionally rich draws readers in and doesn’t let go until the final word in the book. Overall, this was a story that quickly drew me into Jodie’s world. It was a fun, appealing and entertaining read with a solid mystery to unravel.
