Aussie author Garry Disher is a favourite of mine, and I loved The Sunken Road. It was nominated for the Booker Prize when it was published in 1996, and there's no question in my mind that it belonged on the long list, at least. Wonderfully told story from South Australia's dry country.

I really enjoyed historical/modern day dual timeline mystery set on a small, remote and rugged island off Tasmania, particularly the historical part of the tale.
