River of Fallen Angels by Laura Joh Rowland is #7 in a mystery series set in Victorian London. The main character is a crime photographer for a newspaper, her husband is a policeman and her housemates are fellow journalists so they find interesting crimes to investigate together. The mysteries are good but the historical atmosphere of Victorian London is not as strong as it could be, especially in this one.

Ben Hall is the perfect narrator for Mark Smith's Winter series. 5★s for Wilder Country.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Paris Mystery by AA Kirsty Manning is a very promising start to a new series set in 1930s Paris.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My review for: Clarke by Holly Throsby
I really enjoyed this slow burn read, it made me slow down to absorb it thoroughly.

Suz, I can't read the titles on the bookcovers. If it's too hard to link it, could you just write out the name? 😊
I've been meaning to read Kent Haruf's much-loved Plainsong for years, and I'm glad I finally did. Wonderful people on the plains of Colorado. He wrote two more, so I can see where they go.
4★ My review of Plainsong

Linking isn't too hard, as the cover is linked Patty!

True! I enjoy seeing the covers, but so many titles are too small or artistic to read. Even writing out the name is helpful
This short story, Sweat, is from the American South. The acclaimed Harlem Renaissance writer, Zora Neale Hurston wrote wonderful, real dialogue. Loved it.

Fans of Aussie Noir might enjoy The Night Whistler by AA Greg Woodland, especially for its nostalgic setting of late 60s rural Australia. But be warned there is abundant animal cruelty.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Twice in a Lifetime by Melissa Baron
Looks like a nice light romance. Ended up an intense emotional drama. Could have worked better in the hands of a more experienced author.
