4.5 stars for historical fiction
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie GarmusMy review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Vanishing of Margaret Small by Neil Alexander
Looks like light fiction, but it is very intense. Enjoyed it much more than I had expected.

I haven't seen the Netflix series (yet) but enjoyed Walter Tevis' novel about a female chess player who against all the difficulties she has to overcome reaches the top ranks of chess
The Queen's Gambitmy review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Adventures of China Iron by Argentinian author Gabriela Cabezón Cámara is an exuberant queer retelling of the 1872 poem about gaucho Martín Fierro starring his young wife China Iron who runs away across the pampas with redheaded Scottish Liz on a series of adventures. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ here is my review
I'm enjoying Martha Wells' Murderbot series featuring a snarky AI gone rogue, but wish I hadn't left it so long between reading instalment #2 and #3, my memory isn't good enough to keep up with what's been happening. A good excuse to read the next one soon anyway!
Rogue Protocolmy review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I do enjoy a time-travel mystery and with And Then She Vanished, Nick Jones certainly delivers. 5★s and glad I have #2, The Shadows of London ready to go.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Elizabeth Brennan's narration of the audio version of Dinuka McKenzie's excellent debut novel, The Torrent, is very listenable. 5★shttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Frankly Feminist: Short Stories by Jewish Women from Lilith Magazine edited by Susan Weidman Schneider
An anthology of 44 stories with female Jewish protagonists. I was impressed by the range of genres and themes in this one, though it was a tad too long for my liking.

Tree Girl by Bolivian author Ben Mikaelsen is set in Guatemala in the 1980s and is the fictionalised account of a teenager who survives the massacres which caused the tragic death of tens of thousands of Indigenous Guatemalans. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ here is my review

The Slough House in-betweens are a joy to listen to when Sean Barrett is narrating. 5★s for Mick Herron's The Catch.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
16th C Italian history really isn’t at the top of my TBR, unless it’s written by Maggie O'Farrell, then it jumps the queue. Her writing is so beautiful, it’s hard to limit the quotes. The Marriage Portrait is brilliant, and I especially love the ending. 5★shttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
While I've missed the last 4 Alex Cross novels, it doesn't seem to matter: Triple Cross is standard James Patterson fare and will appeal to avid fans. 3.5★shttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Richard Flanagan is a favourite author of mine, a Tasmanian, and I can see why The Sound of One Hand Clapping was on the award lists in 1998. It's the story of a migrant family who came to Tasmania in the 1950s. Australia wasn't war-torn Europe, but life for them was no picnic.
4.5★ My review of The Sound of One Hand Clapping
You Need to Know is a domestic noir by Australian author Nicola Moriarty which will draw you in to the family’s lives and secrets. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ here is my review
Working my way through the Peninsula Crimes series, my review of

While Wendy Bos isn't my favourite narrator, another dose of Phryne Fisher is always welcome. 5★s for Murder in Williamstown by Kerry Greenwood.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This was, surprisingly, engaging, and more importantly, full of fact.
The M Word read by the author herself Ginni MansbergMy review, no Gwyneths (inside book joke) 4★

Jumping into a series at book #9 might not be the best move, but I have read #1, so I did have half an idea of what was going on in Amongst Our Weapons by Ben Aaronovitch. Just marvellous!!! 5★shttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
