Rachel (mimbza) | 697 comments The Bangalore Detectives Club (Kaveri and Ramu #1) by Harini Nagendra The Bangalore Detectives Club by Indian author Harini Nagendra is a cozy mystery set in 1920s Bangalore. The first in a series featuring the mathematical and forward-thinking Kaveri, an enjoyable read with yummy recipes at the end. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ here is my review

Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry

A hardhitting memoir by the actor known for his role as 'Chandler Bing' on FRIENDS. Quite intense. But needs a round (or more) of editing.

Rachel (mimbza) | 697 comments The Single Ladies of Jacaranda Retirement Village by Joanna Nell The Single Ladies of Jacaranda Retirement Village by Joanna Nell is a quirky tale of aging disgracefully. The only bright spot in 79 year old Peggy’s beige life is watching eligible widower Brian walk past in the mornings until her glamorous mad-cap childhood friend Angie makes an appearance and turns more than just Peggy’s wardrobe upside-down. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ here is my review.

Rachel (mimbza) | 697 comments Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri is a beautiful, award-winning collection of short stories set in India or Bangladesh, or involving Bengali immigrants to the US. It is poignant, insightful, full of loss and longing. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ here is my review.

Finally a second translated work by the author of Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982. Unfortunately, this one falls somewhat flat, but it is a decent read for lit-fic lovers.

Damo | 560 comments My review of A Different Turf (Scobie Malone, #13) by Jon Cleary - A Different Turf by Jon Cleary

I was very disappointed by this particular Scobie Malone police procedural. It has shaken my determination to complete the final few books of the series. Ah well, they can't all be gold. I could only manage giving it 2 stars.

Carolyn | 9836 comments Elly Griffiths continues to deliver a well crafted mystery in #14 of her Ruth Galloway series. Written during the UK covid 19 lockdown it also presents a realistic snapshot of what life was like for people during the early days of the pandemic.
