Thanks to Patty Mac for the heads up on this excellent short story written 120 years ago: To Build a Fire by Jack London.5★shttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
While I've only read the first in Jussi Adler-Olsen Department Q series, I dived into #9, The Shadow Murders and that was fine. Gripping Scandi noir, and now to read the unread seven. 4★shttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
In anticipation of Holly Throsby's third novel set in the Gather Region, Clarke, I thought I’d better catch up with the unread first novel, Goodwood . An outstanding debut! 5★shttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
How I could have missed C.S. Lewis's
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
in my childhood is beyond me. Surely someone should have directed me to it! It's still fun, of course. Better late, etc. 😊

On a completely different note,
No Country for Old Men
by Cormac McCarthy is only for seasoned readers. Simple, direct, violent, and thought-provokingly tender in places. Phenomenal writer. Loved it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Finnish author Antti Tuomainen's The Rabbit Factor whose quirky protagonist reminds me a little of Don Tillman. The Moose Paradox, #2 in the series, is definitely on my TBR. 5★s

Beneath the Darkening Sky A revealing but somewhat traumatic novel that looks at the lives of child soldiers in South Sudan by Australian author Majok Tulba. Here is my review
The Paris Mystery is the first of a new series featuring the red-headed Charlie James, and for those who enjoy light historical fiction, mystery and (potentially) romance Kirsty Manning’s matchbox logo lookalike heroine will light their fires.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Bleeding Heart Yard is a welcome 3rd instalment in the Harbinder Kaur detective series by Elly Griffiths.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
