Reading: Brother by Ania Ahlborn

Audible: The Bird Eater by Ania Ahlborn

There are certain books on Amazon that come with free access to the Audible audio versions when you borrow them on Kindle Unlimited, at least on German Amazon. And yeah, I totally dig Ania Ahlborn.

Gloria by Bentley Little

The latest Bentley Little. It is very good. Most reviews describe it as "experimental", but I would lie if I'd claim Little's books never were mindfucky before...

I agree.
It looked like a book that should be good but I couldn't finish it."

Aww, that's a bummer. Same thing happened to me.

Char | 17476 comments Little Eve by Catriona Ward Little Eve This is a cult story and I'm digging it so far, though I'm struggling a bit to keep the two female leads separated in my head.

I'm listening to Three Miles Past by Stephen Graham Jones, narrated by Joshua Saxon. (In spite of my requesting a librarian add this edition to GR last Friday, it still has not been added.)

I'm also reading Phoenix by Brian A. Hopkins by Brian A. Hopkins.

Flesh by Richard Laymon

The second time. I have some difficulties with this one... One thing that strikes me to be the most significant about Laymon's works is the way even positive characters can turn into neo-barbarian savages into moments... and not in a when-you-stare-into-an-abyss kind of way, but in a much more light-hearted and positive way. Mindjacking parasites aren't really necessary in that kind of world...

It's always nice getting through books that have been on there for awhile and also discovering new authors I hadn't tried before.

I've had it on hold, at the library, for a couple of weeks now. Not a lot of copies of it and seems to be quite a few people wanting to read it.

I'm reading some of these vintage stories and listening to others produced by a group called Horror Babble on YouTube. Grand stuff for any fans of the old 1930s Weird Tales magazine.

Another one I've meant to get to. I have read about 1/2 of Time Burial : The Collected Fantasy Tales of Howard Wandrei, some of his brother's work, and it's fun old pulp.

I haven’t read Howard, though I know some of his artwork from Sanctity and Sin: The Collected Poems and Prose Poems of Donald Wandrei, which includes it. Donald Wandrei’s stories are pure pulp, but lots of them are really good pulp. In the meantime, since Don't Dream: The Collected Horror and Fantasy Fiction of Donald Wandrei is a big omnibus sort of collection, I’m taking a break from it to try Christopher Fowler’s fictional take on Hammer Studios, Hell Train, which looks like a lot of fun.

Tales by a mostly forgotten master of British horror, maybe best known today for having the written The Monster Club, which was made into a rather awful cult classic film with Vincent Price.
