36. A book you know nothing about - The Lost Apothecary read 3/10/2022

Just completed #48 (two POVs) - Indigo by Beverly Jenkins. Overall, this story is fascinating! I love the characters, and the author always does a marvelous job of weaving real historical events into her tales. My only quibble with these earlier works is her use of the term “virginal” - bleh! This book is an open door romance. Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars
25/50

Just completed #5 (sapphic book) - Departure from the Script by Jae. Really enjoyed this sweet story about a relationship between two women in Hollywood! Most of the plot points are internal, within the mains characters and their relationship, rather than from external sources. It’s refreshing and relaxing to read! 4.5 stars

5 stars!! Loved this book. Can't wait to continue this story. This would also work for a duology.

Death in the Clouds

Just completed #37 (about gender identity) - Cazadora by Romina Garber. Really enjoyed the broadening of this world! The conversations that are included are so necessary, especially in light of recent legislation. “I don’t know that there’s any plan for our lives… I think we just get confronted with choices, and the more honest we are when making them, the more our life begins to reflect us.” Love the strong women representation! “All I know is they’ve been making up stories about independent girls in every tradition since forever,… And I think it’s time we take back our narratives.” I felt there was a bit too much included and really wish it had been stretched into a trilogy. I hope there are more books in the future! Worth reading! 4.5 stars

47. A book featuring a parallel reality: The Midnight Library This book featured many other realities for the main character, and was a generally interesting read (despite the Hallmark messages at the end).

Just completed #8 (protagonist uses mobility aid) - The Adventures of Tom Finch, Gentleman by Lucy May Lennox. Well, this was a meandering romp through regency England! There were parts that were entertaining, and I appreciated the historical knowledge imparted. But the rest of the time I either wanted to smack the characters or cry for an editor, or both. 3 stars
28/50

✓22. A book with a character on the ace spectrum: Radio Silence by Alice Oseman (finished 3/20)

Just completed #47 (parallel reality) - Across the Green Grass Fields by Seanan McGuire. A beautiful story about finding yourself and not living for destiny. Loved the representation and the characters! I’ll be thinking about this one for awhile. Definitely worth reading! 5 stars

30. A book with the name of a board game in the title
The Battle of the Labyrinth

Just completed #2 (set on a train) - Blood on the Tracks by Barbara Nickless. This was an incredibly enjoyable mystery suspense! I really liked the main character - her backstory is unique and I love that she’s caring for a former marine k9. She’s complicated, but so is everyone in the story. It rang very true, rather than being gratuitous. I learned a bit about the railroad police and marine mortuary affairs. I loved the hooks at the start of each chapter. The slight paranormal element is interesting too. Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars
