I agree with him being a ex-husband or a dead one. This being a husband was straight up cheating.

It was a bit over mine. They might not have slept together but what they did was worse. They had a emotional relationship. He was cheating on a emotional level. So a book that would have been five stars was a three almost a two. It really upset me

message 312: by Diane (new)

Diane | 877 comments At least the husband wasn't particularly likable, but there is no indication he was cheating which puts the MC clearly in the wrong no matter how likable he is

Wende | 1741 comments Diane wrote: "At least the husband wasn't particularly likable, but there is no indication he was cheating which puts the MC clearly in the wrong no matter how likable he is"

He was not likable because Larkin had refused to touch him for six months. He refuse to communicate with him. He would not answer his calls or texts. He is an elementary teacher who Larkin said he gave his all. The unlikable character was Larkin. The lying cheating bastard.

message 314: by Wende (last edited Oct 04, 2021 06:55PM) (new)

Wende | 1741 comments I have never hated a main character more. I was so angry after reading the book. I really don't understand why I really hate him.
Btw I mean main character I am suppose to like.

Oh my gosh I figured it out I hated Jake with a passion. Larkin is Jake with a good memory.

message 315: by Diane (new)

Diane | 877 comments Yeah, Jake was another tough one for sure. You didn't feel bad for the hell he put himself thru at all.

Couldn't put Coddiwomple down!! So good. Going to sleep now but will post in the morning. πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€

I started this book, and thought β€œThis is familiar”. Looked at the cover, Nope, don’t recognize. Read a couple more pages and started laughing at myself. Yes! I read this story before in an anthology. So I was able to speed through reading it a second time. And I loved even more than the first time!

Raven shifter, Poe (just his name makes me laugh), goes to make a deal with the demon assassin twink, Tommy. Yes, loved the humor, the nod to Edgar Allen Poe, and to the tale of Rumplestiltskin. Fantastic world building. Sizzling chemistry. Poe and Tommy were perfect for each other. Overall, loved it!

Review:
I did not know what to expect going in, never having heard of this author before. Turns out, I should've expected something pretty great. The Last of the Moussakas was surprisingly sweet and surprisingly complex at the same time. There's very little relationship angst. Max and Georgios has been friend since they were young and it shows. The way their relationship evolves felt natural and right. This wasn't an angst free read though. Most of the angst came from Max and Georgios (mostly Georgios) families. And that's very the story got complex and at times even hard to read. The WW2 storyline was heartbreaking. But also beautiful. But very heartbreaking. It made me think of The Girl You Left Behind quite a few times. I'm going to remember this book for quite some time, I'm sure of it.

What was I thinking when I reviewed this before?
I only gave this book 3 stars? I needed Shawn and Hippy hot pants (aka Harvey) I loved the humor, the feel good love between the characters. How Shawn had a shitty life but he just kept moving forward. It is a 5 stars for me this time around. πŸ’•πŸ’•

Review: This was just so fun. A second chance story for Cam and Journey who split up at the age of 25 when Journey had to get out of the small town and Cam couldn't leave. This is 15 years later, they are still somewhat friends and Journey has to come back to help look after his Dad who was sick. His interactions with his Dad are fantastic, I love all the asides he makes in his head and how to have a real conversation they have to talk with a shower curtain between them. Cam is the most amazing person, a vet who adores animals and is very softhearted. His rants are explosive and always so embarrassing. Such a lovely story.

I think it helps when you know going into the challenge that you know and get along with all your teammates already. No awkward 'getting to know you' moments. And, yes, Gustaf was very kind to allow himself to be 'voluntold' to be our Captain!

Yeah, we should be able to get our next task tomorrow. Going to post it before going to bed. And hopefully we might get one while I'm still at work. We were really fast this round.
