Danielle (bookaddict27) Week 7: Street

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
Read: 1/04/2015

Rating: 3 Stars

Review:

I still don't how to feel about this novel despite finishing a little time ago now. Enjoyable isn't a word I would describe my reading experience with it but it was very absorbing despite that. I saw some of the twists coming but still was blind-slighted by others. Overall it was a darkly compelling read but far from my usual fare and not something I would reread.

Words:

Street- "And what was the name of street you grew up on?" "Rural Route 2" page 467

Dream- "I had woken from a miserable dream" page 302

Neighbor- "the neighbor's red dog" page 6

Coat- "what he was carrying in his coat right now" page 75

Silver- "Diondra sang to a silver-bell tune" page 255

State- "some guy has been crossing states- Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma" page 52

Week 7

Book: The Nanny Proposition by Rachel Bailey.
Date Read: 3/28/15
Rating: 4 stars

Reviw:
A new author for me, and it was a surprisingly good book. Both the hero and heroine had their own issues, but how can you lot love a book with such cute babies on the cover. Well in addition to the cover, the book is an good one. It was a pretty quick read.

Items Claimed:

Street: "You won't be kicked out on the street - Page 22.

Dream: "He woke ith a start, wrenching himself from the grip of the dream." - Page 39

Neighbor: "A royal family tht had, unlike many of its European neighbors,..." - Page 34.

Coat: "He slipped off his white lab coat,..." - Page 62.

Silver: "Several silver dishes with domed covers..." - page 55.

State: "When I was eleven, we moved from the Midwest out here to California. - Page 76.

Hina (hinaj) | 500 comments OMG I can't believe I made that mistake. I couldn't find a proper noun with my original book, but luckily enough I found all the words in an other book. I am going to quickly write a review for that.

Book: Body Check by Elle Kennedy.
Date Read: 3/31/15

Pretty Good book. Really was annoyed by the heroine throughout the book, but loved the hero. Some parts were kind of unrealistic and really underwhelmed you especially after all the build up.

Street: "...focusing on the scenery along South Michigan Avenue, afraid to look at him again." - Location 383.

Dream: "...but she also wasn't willing to give up her own goals and dreams." - Location 2416.

Coat: "...she'd brought instead of a coat,..." - Location 383.

Silver: "She'd worn a slinky silver dress..." Loc 1665.

It is the first team to 40 points is the winner... correct?

message 263: by [deleted user] (new)

Jennifer H ~♥ Kat ♥~ wrote: "For Building are we looking for a certain kind of building or just the word it's self?"

just the word itself but it needs to be the noun not the verb

message 268: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok so then this work would?

ex. He drove straight to my apartment building

message 269: by [deleted user] (new)

OK, so I finally found a book that will work Dark Descendant (Nikki Glass, #1) by Jenna Black

message 270: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok so looking at what Jennifer and ✼Danielle✼can claim in their books we should claim... Candle for the Things along with Red & Diamond.

For People we can pick from Mother, Father & Sister
For Places we can pick from Building and Home/House

My book has everything so what do you guys think we should pick for the last two words to claim?

message 271: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 500 comments I think all of them are relatively easy, maybe building and mother?

message 272: by [deleted user] (new)

ok so we'll go with mother, building, candle

message 273: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) Ok

Danielle (bookaddict27) I guess I will start searching my books for the words drawn this week and the ones you guys picked then. I will post back when I find something that works for all those words.

message 277: by [deleted user] (new)

I switched my book choice to Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance I only read 2 chapters so far and I'm completely hooked, don't know why I waited so long to read this series! :)

Jennifer H Week 8 ~ Red & Diamond

Loyalty in Death (In Death, #9) by J.D. Robb by JD Robb
4/6/15-5♥

Mother ~ to his tearfully grateful mother ~ p. 30
Building ~ top of the Empire State Building ~ p. 40
Candle ~ the candles glowing gold ~ p. 16
Red ~ crossed the royal red carpet ~ p. 4
Diamond ~ around the teardrop diamond ~ p. 62

I've read the whole series, in order, (I'm now listening to them) and this is the best book of the lot. The romance between Eve and Roarke continues to develop, and Peabody and McNab seem to be going their own way as well. If you like strong, gutsy heroines and men with a sense of humour, as well as a touch of futurist fantasy, you'll enjoy this book.

Review
This is book eleven and it's still very enjoyable. This was a great instalment. Ethan really stepped up and showed his love and trust for Merit I'm this one. They were really solid. There is a new villain in town and in interested in how it's going to play out in the next books. I liked what happened with the side characters too. I'm super glad with the direction of Mallory. She and Merit continue to build their relationship back up. Catcher and Mallory are happy together. A bit of hope for Morgan too. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Scavenger Hunt R9 ~ Week 8 ~ Red & Diamond

Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance

Finished: 08/04/15
Rating:3.5♥

Review:
I have to say that this was an enjoyable read. It started off really great but then started to drag in the middle I think it had a lot to do with all the flash backs and so very long and detailed visions that for me really didn't mean a whole lot to the story in general. I enjoyed the characters a lot Tomas was a yummy favorite of mine. All in all not a bad start to this series and I will continue it just maybe not right away.

Items Claimed:

WOW:Red:
Sony Loc. pg 56 my legs were covered in red
Bonus:Diamond:Sony Loc. pg 121 a transparent shirt strung with tiny diamonds

Mother:Sony Loc. pg 90 even though his mother had been a slave
Building:Sony Loc. pg 25 at the agency and my apartment building knew I worked
Candle:Sony Loc. pg 108 flames from the candles were dancing

Danielle (bookaddict27) Week 8: Red

Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie

Read: 9/04/2015

Rating: 4 Stars

Review:
It is a light fun contemporary read. Nothing groundbreaking but still enjoyable. It doesn't really stand out from other Jennifer Crusie books either but I would still reread it eventually since the plot was interesting and I liked the characters.

Words:

Diamond- "perfect diamonds set in a circle" page 391
Red- "four men were at one talking to a brunette in red" page 6
Mother- "which fulfills every prophecy my mother has ever made" Page 5
Candle- "Or maybe it's the cinnamon candles" page 145
Building- "that's like saying you could just fall off a building" page 218

Week 8

Book: A Highlander of Her Own by Melissa Mayhue.
Date Read: 4/8/15
Rating: 4 stars

Reviw:
This book probably could have been read as a stand alone as it wasn't build up on much of the past book had been. I loved both the hero and the heroine and the dogs, oh my god the relationship advice from the animals were hilarious. I wish there was more romance between the hero and heroine and they didn't spend so much denying their feelings for each other. Another thing I didn't like is that some of the bad guys weren't really punished and that just annoyed me. There was a lot of time spent on the hero's brothers so I am wondering if they have a book out there or else why did we spend so much time on them and their issues.

Items Claimed:

Diamond: "...moonlight like trails of liquid diamonds leading down into... - Location 2952.

Red: "...a week later this awful red mark had showed up on her chest. - Location 264.

Mother: "Since her mother's death, nothing had been worth smiling about." - Location 207.

Candle: "...up the glint of the candlelight. - Location 1768.

Building: "The building itself was set up off the ground..." - Location 1057.

So whatever everyone thinks we should claim for people and colors are ok with me

message 287: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 500 comments They are all relatively easy, so I don't have a preference for which one we claim for people and colors.

Jennifer H Week 9 ~ Candle & Piano

Play (Stage Dive, #2) by Kylie Scott by Kylie Scott
4/13/15-5♥

Father ~ his father changed the topic (p. 179)
Home ~ But I only just got home (p. 6)
Candle ~ White candles of every size (p. 93)
Black ~ the knee of my black pants (p. 4)
Piano ~ We even had a grand piano (p. 244)

Once again, Kylie Scott has knocked one out of the ballpark with her rockers we love to love. Let me first say that Mal is absolutely delicious and I just loved him! He was fun and free-spirited, but he had depth, too, and I really enjoyed getting to know him. The way he enters Anne's life and just steamrolls it is so fun and so totally Mal. He is a larger than life character and it takes a woman of Anne's strength to keep up with him. She is the perfect girl for him and it was a blast seeing how she rolled with the punches with him. Together, they are just magic.
