Oh that's a good question.

Excellent idea! I will add that to the rules.

Edit: Dinner is ready. Hope the menus suit your taste!

Edit: I updated it again and now there are plenty of options. Going through my old reads was fun.

Aya - You could just link to a shelf you already have if you want to. Since someone else is reading off your shelf, it doesn't have to be something that you plan to read in August. So, you could link to your want to read shelf or your read shelf or even your favorites if you chose to.

Didn't think of it, only focused on my WTR, lol. But I've done making a shelf, a combo of all the shelves available!

I am quite happy for you to pick longer books

If nothing on that list meets, please feel free to pick from my "to-be-read" shelf - it is HUGE, or any of the sub shelves, even something I have already read.

If you pick a book from your buddy's shelf, and it is on your yearly challenge task list, you have to choose which challenge you are going to use the book for. Same for someone else choosing from your to read list.

I think this is correct. You won't be reading the book, the other person will. So, they will just choose something that doesn't fit for their yearly challenge and you will do likewise from the shelf you are given to pick from.

Yes I know that Cherie I was checking that we would be picking from someone else's shelf not having one picked from our own to read as I would need to remove the ones earmarked for the annual challenge. I am not sure if i am making this clear, I only have 4 books to go for the annual challenge but I cannot get round to them

I understood what you were asking. I didn't respond because I thought Kristie had correctly answered. Just to clarify in case there is any confusion, you will be picking from someone else's shelf so it won't matter to you what is on your own shelf.

I get to pick from yours and I'm so excited!

That leaves two. I'll see if I'm in the mood to read one of them later this month :)

I have chosen 3 - so that if I get stuck finding them or don't like the first I have choices
1. IQ - I like Mystery/ thrillers and this is a new author for me
2. Malice again Retellings are a favourite genre and another new Author
3. As You Like It I put this in as I know it will be free on Kindle but it feels like a cop out as Shakespeare's Work is so well known to me. I have seen this several times at the Globe and at a pop up shakespeare theatre in York

Here's how it works:
1. Sign up below and link to your shelf that you would like a person to pick from. If you created a shelf for last month's challenge, perhaps you'd like to use that one again.
2. On Wednesday, I will tell you whose shelf you get to snoop through.
The list!
3. Pick one of the books on that shelf, and that will be your challenge book.
Just a reminder about privacy settings - If your profile is private, you will need to temporarily change your settings or add your buddy as a friend.
And a note on those dang pesky series books.... If your buddy has a series book on the list, say book 3 of the series, you may read either the 1st book if it's a new to you series, or whatever book you are currently at. Eg, buddy has The Cabinet of Curiosities which is book 3 of the Pendergast Series. I could read Fever Dream which is book 10 because that's the next book in the series for me to read.
General Rules:
1. The book may be in any format - paperback, ebook, audiobook.
2. The book may NOT be combined with the Year Long Challenge.
3. The book must be read between August 1 and August 31, 2021 (based on your local time zone).
4. The challenge is for one book. You may read more books if you chose but you may only report one.
5. The book must be 175 pages or more determined by the issue you read.
In the case of ebooks & audiobooks, use the hardcover or paperback edition to determine page length. From the book page, select “all editions”, then select the first paper edition as your guide. If reading an ebook and there is no paper edition, the ebook book must be at least 250 pages. If reading an audiobook and there is no paper edition, your book must be a minimum of 6 hours long.
Report your finished books in the reporting thread using your WoF name.
Please tell us whose shelf you got to snoop in, link to the book, tell us why you picked your book, and what you thought of it. Please be analytical in your presentation, and not just that you liked it or didn't. We want to know why.
