Are you watching the TV series too ?

I liked QB but I think if I played it again I'd bypass the live action stuff. Well worth watching it the first time around - but a strange concept.

Error | 408 comments Yes - I've played the first two acts, and watched the first two episodes of the show. I can see why people hated "a tv show in my game" back when it came out. Especially since the gameplay itself isn't much beyond adequate. I'm just finding the whole project to be a compelling, and surprisingly well done multimedia experience. The Choose Your Own Adventure stylings get bonus points from me. I'm glad it exists, but you have to wonder what went down in the boardroom to greenlight the thing.

I guess QB was conceived before Xbox one was launched when it was going to be more a TV box than a games console. I’d replay QB - as I generally love Remedy games - but without meaning to spoil it there is one section of the game I absolutely can’t stand. Completely puts me off replaying it. Otherwise it’s a solid 8/10 game for me, ignoring the TV series.

I think I will. Hate having to kill Wrex.

Morning all

Been really busy with work.

@Phil

Always cure the Genophage. :)
It was a terrible move against them after their power was used against the insect invasion (i dont remember their names).

Still playing and enjoying Dragon´s Dogma. I just hit level 25 and im one rank away from completing the fighter vocation.
After that i´ll change to the Mystic Knight.
Great game.

message 206: by [deleted user] (new)

Rachni? Yeah I cured the genophage in my ME3 playthrough. I could see why it was done but was time to end it.

Project Cars 3 in the sale for £13. Yay or nay?

Or use some Amazon vouchers I got on ME Legendary Edition instead. Could I play ME 1 again?

Morning all. I've not played anything for the second night in a row. I've fallen into that trap of not having a clue what to play next after completing a great game. I turn my PS3 and PS4 and look at all the games but nothing grabs me. I've a few short games I want to blast through in one sitting but I get on too late or feel too knackered.

@Equinox80
John, i have that from time to time.
Just dont force it. You love playing games and, althought you´te a bit tired of them, after a few days the itch will return naturally. Just wait and some game will make its way trust me. :)

I really loving Dragon´s Dogma. I missed a fantasy rpg like this one.
It can be really hard at times. I had to fight 2 Cyclops at once which was a real pain but man, its so satisfying.
At times i swear i get those Soulsborne vibes in the game.

I know mate, I've had this before and know it'll all click back into shape.

I might take some time off work just to spend a couple of days doing nothing but gaming as it's sometimes not feeling I have enough time also puts me off. I get on at 9:30pm, already tired and think what's the point.

I finally got round to taking my PS4 apart and cleared all the dust out so hopefully it will be up to a few long sessions. The dust wasn't as bad as I thought it would be for 7 years worth but there was a fair amount clogged round the fan.

Have you watched the Castlevania series on netflix?
I´ve been watching season 3 and it helped me quite a bit on my last dry season.
Either that or a CGI movie usually does the trick.

message 212: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah I watched it last year. I got into it just as my kid was born and used to sit with him until the early hours watching that.

I've never played a Castlevania game but absolutely loved the Netflix show. I couldn't wait for season 4 this year. Its a shame its finished but it ended perfectly I thought.

message 213: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Adam, I'll pass in that case and maybe wait for the deluxe edition instead.

Morning all

More Dragon´s Dogma for me.
What a great rpg. Im realyl enjoying it.
Reached level 28 for me and my pawn.
Im about to see the Duke for the first time as i completed most of the quests available, minus the escort ones.

I also played a bit more of Blood & Truth and im in love with that game. Its has such an great story that i truly feel im inside a good action movie.

message 215: by [deleted user] (new)

Ping! Adam Venture Origins.

One of the worse games I've ever played. PS2 era graphics and the worst voice acting ever in a game. Absolutely atrocious stuff. Some of the puzzles were OK but that's the only +ve.

message 216: by [deleted user] (new)

It was approx £3 for a straight forward plat ;)

To be fair if I'd known it was as bad as it was I may not have bothered.

Same here.
Sometimes i have the most stupid itches.
Lately i´ve been wanting to buy a good wheel for the PS4 and a truck simulator game. Why? Not a clue other then i think it would be cool to calmly drive in real time in one of those games.

It looked so weird on the wii.

I know you mean Glass. On the subject of trucks, I'm tempted by the European Truck racing game in the sale. I bet its utterly average at best.

I'm also tempted by that new F2P game Crash Drive 3 as a time killer/go to when I've no idea what to do next.

So I've pressed on with Doom Eternal. Got to something like the 8th mission and the difficulty has ramped up. Before the mission I had 14 spare lives (1 Ups) and at the end I'd spent them all. And now I'm at the point of no return with no spare lives. Just wondering if I'll make it through to the end now considering how difficult this game has got now. For the first 7 missions it was fine and then boom - gave me a good kicking.

Error | 408 comments I have decided that I won't pick up a next gen console until I can just walk into a brick and mortar shop and pick one up. It just isn't worth trying to identify when stock is going to go live and beat the bots when the clock changes.

Completed one more act of Quantum Break over the weekend. Also started up and played a bunch of Dead Cells. It's fairly great. Surprised I waited so long, since I'm a rogue fan.

Mostly family stuff recently, and now back to the working life.

HoopDogg | 17 comments Managed to get the platinum trophy for Days Gone last night, i struggled with the drifting whilst using nitrous one until i switched the tyres to the basic ones and found a good open area to do it. I still have a few hordes to clear and as they are fun I'll carry on with the game. Tempted by Mass Effect legendary edition next

message 228: by [deleted user] (new)

Congrats Hoop. That drift trophy was a bit fiddly from what I remember.

I had another night of not knowing what to do so just pinged a couple of grubby looking plats I noticed someone else do on the timeline thing on the XMB.

Catch the Bowling Ball and Space (Breakthrough Arcade)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, I'm in between games as well at the minute. Been jumping between a load of different games the past few days. Ended up double pinging Cross the Moon (PS4 & PS5) there, not because I particularly wanted to play it but more I couldn't think of anything else.

Finished Scarlet Nexus last week, haven't decided whether to plat or not. Only a few trophies left but one of them looked like more of a grind than I'd like. With nothing else catching the eye at the minute, I might go back and grind it out anyway till I shake this unsettled period off.

Went to play A Plague Tale on PS5 and got bored of it even quicker than I did on PS4.

Thinking maybe giving CrossCode another go or continuing with Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin but neither are really screaming play me

Hi guys

Sorry for not posting too much but my boss is on vacations and i got a ton of extra work on my hand this week.

Still having a blast with Dragon´s Dogma.
For the last 4 days everytime i i finish the session i leave my character in front of an npc that will allow me to talk to a duke and progress the main story. So every single time i resume the game the day after i think "ok...but before i do it let me just finish this side quest or explore a bit that part of the map" and end up playing for a couple of hrs only to leave my character in the same place i began the session.
Its been like this for 4 days now. lol
I love this game!

Morning all. Another two levels of Doom Eternal done. Found four more 1 Up's and spent them in no time lol. This game has really ramped up in difficulty. I abolsolutely hate those totem demons (or whatever they are called) - it's like buffed demons constantly respawn and in your face until that totem demon (once you actually find him) is dead. And some really tricky platforming too. Which I kinda like as it really does make use of the environment in some spectacular ways jumping massive distances. Just got to a mini-boss fight where I have to kill some guardian that flies about the place trying to stop me transporting somewhere. Thought I'd switch it off then. Only one mini-boss fight and one level to go. This game is brutal.

message 233: by [deleted user] (new)

Another night of not feeling anything so just pinged another grubby plat. Will not do anymore as I don't want to turn my trophy list into a joke but nice to move the total on a bit.

Might try and play a proper game tonight.

Doom Eternal has never been on my radar but first person platforming puts me off completely.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments V-Rally 4 cheap - Yay or neigh? Tempted by either that or Monster Truck Championship for some reason

message 235: by [deleted user] (new)

Nay re V Rally 4. It just isn't very good at all and an awful trophy list.

I'm quite tempted by the Monster Truck game. I think it's meant to be OK.

message 236: by [deleted user] (new)

What did you think of Project Cars 3 Deck?

message 237: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Jul 15, 2021 06:17AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Surprisingly liked it. I really didn't get on with PC2 at all, but 3 seemed to shift away a bit from a full on sim, and you can feel more of Codemasters influence on it (well I did anyway). Can't remember too many problematic trophies either. I enjoyed it but part of that could be because of 2 and didn't go in to it with high hopes for it.

Think I might bite the Monster (Truck)

message 238: by [deleted user] (new)

Cheers mate. I keep being tempted by it on the store, although I'm also tempted by the Monster Trucks and European Truck racing game too. Does Monster Trucks have any online trophies? If so I'd probably get it if you did and we could knock out any online stuff if you wanted.

message 239: by HoopDogg (last edited Jul 15, 2021 07:06AM) (new)

HoopDogg | 17 comments So that's everything done in Days Gone. I really enjoyed it & I'm not sure why it didn't receive a better reception. Maybe it was just right game, right time for me. I have Cyberpunk ready to go but I think I'll wait for at least one more patch before I go there.
Probably going to give the Red Dead Online update a go tonight as it actually looks like it's Outlaw themed rather than the last ridiculous naturalist update.
I'm going to pick up Mass Effect Legendary Edition on Sunday which will keep me occupied for a few months.

I cracked and picked up Monster Trucks there and had a quick go but my first impression is I'm not sure I'd recommend it. Handling wise it looks like one that would take quite a bit of getting used to, the trucks aren't the easiest to control.

And trophy wise there's one to win all career events on the highest difficulty, which considering how my first race went, think it looks like a lot more stress than I'd want. Looks like only a couple of online ones - host 3 events and win 3.

Whether I stick with it depends on whether I can get used to the handling

Picked up the European Truck racing game at the same time, I'll give it a go later

message 241: by [deleted user] (new)

OK mate. Let me know how you get on with it and what you think of the Euro Trucks game. I thought I'd seen the Monster Trucks game on an easy ish plats list but doesn't sound it. Maybe once you get used to the handling it gets easier but have to say you've put me off it a bit haha

message 242: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Jul 16, 2021 12:21AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments After playing them both for a bit, neither Monster Truck Championship or FIA European Truck Racing are anything to rave about but neither are completely terrible.

The handling of the Monster Trucks aren't as bad as I first thought, as long as you avoid drifting they are OK. And I reckon once I've fully upgraded the vehicle it might make most of races/events doable on hard, though that really depends on whether the AI vehicles are upgraded too and how much hard difficulty knocks up the scores in the freestyle & destruction events. Apart from that one and the online ones, most of the other trophies look easy enough. There's one to get a x30 multiplier that might take a few attempts, I've got the x20 one through natural play so that trophy is probably a matter of picking the right track.

European Truck Racing is a bit rough around the edges and I don't really like how the career starts off. When I started it, all I really wanted was to have a race to see what it was like. An hour later I was still waiting for one. First you have to get a licence, fine. Then there are a couple of practice sessions, ok. Then you come to your first race weekend, where it's another practice, followed by qualifying, followed by super pole (basically a second qualifying) and finally a race. When they finally do let you race, I've played worse and trophy wise there's nothing difficulty related or online, so looks very platable but probably a lengthy one.

Out of the two Monster Trucks is probably slightly the more fun

message 243: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Deck. I stared at them both in the store for a while last night but in the end decided on neither. I know which ever I pick I'll probably end up wishing I'd picked the other. That's usually how it goes. I also looked at ME Legandary Edition on Amazon for a while before not buying that either.

I'm going to try and finish Deponia this weekend. A point and click I bought for a few quid in the last sale. I've got a few other mini games like these so I'm thinking if I knock a few of these out I'll get some momentum going and get some mojo back.

I know if I had a PS5 I'd be hammering two recent + games, Wreckfest and A Plague Tale and I'd replay Dirt 5. It's worth £500 for those right?

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I don't regret getting a PS5 but yeah there still isn't much out to persuade those on the fence to take the next gen leap. Apart from double the plats ;)

Not going to attempt to plat Monster Trucks. Looks like you have to reset the career to change difficulty, so I'd be doing the hard difficulty trophy from scratch. I'm going to just relax and enjoy the career and might come back to the hard difficulty at some point in the future, if I'm feeling masochistic.

message 245: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I might leave those racing games for now. I'll hang fire and see if anything takes my fancy when the sales update next week. I'll probably have cracked and bought ME LE by then though. Think I'll have a look through the trophy lists for inspiration. They sound better than the original ones.

Yeah I want Ratchet on PS5 too. It looks really good but hopefully it's a but more reasonably priced by the time I get round to it.

I really don't like the look of Returnal but I've not been a fan of any Housemarq's games.

message 246: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Jul 16, 2021 05:22AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments They are a bit daft charging £70 for Ratchet. Considering there's not a lot out, I'd have picked it up day one if it had have been nearer the £50 mark. They've done themselves out of getting some on the fence sales. And since I didn't buy it day one, I'll wait till its sub £25, unless I'm desperate

Don't think they advertised Returnal very well. The phrases they used to describe it would definitely put a lot off, especially when it's basically just an average 3rd person shooter. Enjoyed what I've played of it, but not one I'd buy a PS5 specifically for

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Can't say I noticed any difference between PSVR on PS4 & PS5, then again I've only played a couple of VR games on the PS5
