Same as Hoop - I get well into the Euros and the World Cup.

I'm not as mad about the domestic stuff. I follow the results and watch Match Of The Day, but watch live matches once in a blue moon - but the Euros - definitely.

I'm guessing that much talked of Ps4Pro won't be getting posted lol.

Luckily the trusty vanilla ps4 is still going strong and even that does HDR and the TV does a decent upscaling job :)

I think you've got more chance of finding a PS5 Phil ;)

More Mass Effect last night. Spent a while on it but didn't do much, just a side mission. Have landed on Feros though so plenty to get stuck into tonight.

Is there a way to pin this thread to the top of the thread lists?

Has anyone played Far Cry 5?

Im enjoying Dragons Dogma but i feel dat itch for FC 5 but i have to install it first.
Is it worth the trouble?

@Error

I have a question regarding Dragon´s Dogma.
Are there any skill to gain? I ask cause i reached level 2 and nothing happened apart from raising my health and stamina a bit.
I went to thecharacter´s sheet and saw no skill tree or something like that.
Am i missing something?

Glass, been a while since I played but as far as I remember to get skills there are NPCs you have to talk to in Dragon's Dogma. I think there's one outside the first small encampment you come across after leaving the town, near the pawn thing

And FC5 was pretty decent

FC5 is worth a blast - won't be expensive now. It's a fantastic looking game and solid mechanics etc.

Bit of a twist in that the entire map is explore-able from the start. It's FC - tbh if you enjoyed FC3 & FC4 then you'll enjoy it.

Oh i see.
Thanks mate. Im currently still heading there.
Visually it shows its an old game. The textures are not that good and the little of the world i´ve seen so far is pretty barren. It looks like a ps3 game.
But since everyone praises it so much im willing to get myself immersed.

Thanks mate.
I already have it in my backlog. I just need to install it.

I liked FC3 quite a bit but found FC4 very boring and quit midplay.
I had a blast with Primal though so i truly dont know what to expect in FC5.
What i do like is that sense of exploration and wild life it offers.
I´ll probably try it anyway.

FC5 is better than FC4 but not as good as FC3.

I enjoyed Primal and New Dawn, possibly because expectations were so low but they were both surprisingly good.

I'm looking forward to FC6.

Are to playing the remastered version Glass? Because DD is actually a ps3 game.

@Adam I wrote Primal off as a terrible reskin and to a point it is a reskin but it worked better than expected.

@Glass, yes New Dawn picks up the story of FC5. It's better than FC5 too in my book.

Yeah. DD Dark Arisen on the PS4.
I dont mind much about the visuals though. I just noticed it but after 20 minutes i no longer cared.

Error | 408 comments Glass - There are most definitely skills to unlock (blink strike!). Bear in mind the level cap is 200. The game doesn't actually start until to reach the city Gransys (I think that's the name). Visually, it's all about the monster design and that day/night cycle. I'm biased, but DD is a game that reveals more depth the longer you play imo.

I enjoyed Far Cry 5 so well worth playing. Terrible ending game play wise but other than that good - albeit with the annoyances of scouting planes spotting every 30 minutes and trying to kill you. If you like far cry before you won't be disappointed. Actually my favourire far cry is 2, and I'm one of those weirdos that liked FC Primal :-). Looking forward to 6 - can't wait to see how good it looks on Series X. However, due to the crowded holiday release window I'll probably get it as a christmas present rather than on release.

I see. Thanks mate. Im very intrigued by the game.
Right now, im trying to understand how the game works, reading everything.
Btw, i have another question. I went to the Inn in the starting town and, while i was poking around i chose the storage option with the innkeeper and found a bunch of really powerfull items and armors which i feel are from the dlc which the game includes?
Im not sure if i should use them or not cause it feels like cheating. I ended up only using a ring and the an armour but left behind an arm piece that looked really overpowered.
Any advice with this mate?

@Rob

Im the same weirdo as you.
I absolutely loved Primal. I started without much interest and couldnt let it go until the end.
People can say whaveter they say, but i personally had a blast playing it and it was one of those games where i coudlnt wait to continue playing after a day´s work.

Yea I'm the same on Primal. I was put off by the response it received and eventually thought for cheap to give it a go. Wasn't disappointed at all - good game and mixes up the far cry with the prehistoric setting and weapons. I loved the bow - in no way did I miss my AK :-). Plus the only far cry I've really hunted in - spent hours just chilling while hunting.

AlienGirl54 | 46 comments I loved FC4 and 5 and got my first plat on Primal. FC3 was okay until I got to one part and just couldn't be bothered to do it (I think it was some large fortress on the beach where I had to shut down communications or something). Haven't played it since (and I played the remaster).

Error | 408 comments I was really enjoying primal but dropped it for whatever reason. It's on my list to finish at some point. A very nice twist to the Far Cry formula imo.

Glass - I can't recall getting any special items through the DLC. Bitterblack Isle is a whole different animal that you shouldn't even be thinking about for another 20-30 levels. You may have been gifted items by someone on your friends list. Unless you got a fully maxed out weapon, I wouldn't worry about using whatever is at your disposal. What is the name of the item you are wondering about? You still have a long road ahead of you, even with above average gear. The upgrade system has multiple phases and I doubt what you have could dampen your experience whatsoever.

Thanks mate.
Yesterday i had a great session.
The day before i confess i was struggling to deal with the amount of info the game was constantly throwing at me. But last night everything stopped sounding like chinese to me and i started to understand the menus, stats etc etc.
I spend a couple of hrs doing minor quests i found on a notice board inside the Inn in the starting town. I spent the whole time killing foes, rabits, picking flowers, opening chests and exploring the enviroment in the area between Cassardis and the camp where the pawn wants me to go.
I managed to reach level 4 and earned enough money to buy the Trusty Sword which is 2 tiers above my initial rusty one.
Also sold and bough new gear and clothes and by the end i felt like i was finally in the game.
Tonight ill go to the camp and cant wait to finish the day and go back to it which is a great sign. :)

Nay. I object to buying it at anything over £20 because Sony got so greedy with it. It's basically the Spider-Man equivalent of Infamous Festival of Blood which was a standalone that cost what?...£10? Obviously this is far away a more involved and technical achievement but £70 RRP is taking the absolute piss.

I personally dont buy games above 30 eur anymore.
It got to a point where i honestly dont see the benefit in buying games at full price other then playing it before other gamers.
We pay more money for a lesser version of the game for 99% of the times.
I usually play games with a 1 or 2 years gap or more and bugs and unfinished states are something that i honestly havent experienced for more then 4 years. I know it happens constantly but, at this point, i think anoyne who still trusts developers and publishers who ask for full price is asking to be ripped off.

I'm going to wait on Spider-man MM being sub £20.

message 134: by Ron (last edited Jun 25, 2021 06:45AM) (new)

Ron | 78 comments I just bought FFVII Remake for £17 and once I'm done I'll buy Death Stranding. Only Sony exclusive I'd consider buying day one is God of War Ragnarok but only if I can get a sub £70 deal and I've managed to finish Days Gone, FFVII, Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima.

EDIt: oh...and if I actually have a PS5 LOL

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I think I paid £50 for Spidey MM. I don't rate the Spider-man games as highly as some, solid efforts but not overly spectacular but between playing through it on PS4 & PS5, I've more than got my moneys worth and can't complain.

message 136: by [deleted user] (new)

Ninja Gaiden is not a series I've ever played.

I did notice Ni No Kuni 2 in the sale for £11ish. That seems OK considering it rarely drops below £20.

My Mass Effect insanity run is going OK atm. Just met up with the Salarian capt on Virmire but called it a night before tackling the next bit. Could really do with an easy driving game to have on the go along side ME to relax with.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ping! Planet Coaster PS5. When I started playing it I didn't think I'd be saying that. Apart from a couple of parks, most of it was pretty straightforward. More of a time consuming plat than difficult one. Enjoyed it overall. Might come back to the PS4 version at some point.

Going to get properly stuck in to Scarlet Nexus next. Made a start on it and it's interesting enough but have a funny feeling the combat/enemies will get pretty annoying later on in the game.

message 138: by [deleted user] (new)

Congrats Deck. Is Planet Coaster to Theme Park what Two Point Hospital is to Theme Hospital?

I had a fruitful weekend on Mass Effect. Finally the maximum level with my character for that trophy. I also got the last two chatacter trophies for playing 'a majority of the game with...' Garrus and Wrex late last night.

The next thing to do is go to Ilos and start the end of this insanity run. I'm quite nervous about starting it as the near 100 hours I've put in so far all come to this.

Morning all

Been having a real good time with Dragon´s Dogma.
Its one of those games where i feel kinda intimidated by the world but as the game progresses i feel im only touching the tip of the iceberg and i love it.
Fought a huge hidra last night and it was excelent. Really epic.

Im still at the beginning area but my next missions is suposed make me travel to some near kingdom so im very excited.

Still have some questions though but the most important now is: do i need to have a 4 member party? The game doenst speciffically states that its better to have a full party and talks about pawns as a choice of the player.
I want to play with only my created pawn but i dont want to have a hard time playing.

Also, the game has snakes!! I was questing in a cave and was completely oblivious to the fact that there´s snakes in this game. I got bitten out of the blue and almost had a heart attack!!

message 141: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Jun 28, 2021 05:42AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Eventually you'll need a full party in Dragon's Dogma. Most of it is probably doable with only your pawn but I wouldn't recommend it for some of the bigger monsters.

It's the type of game that if you make things more difficult for yourself, it can feel like a massive slog

Glassmoon - The Benny Hill of Plats | 779 comments Mod
I see.
Thanks mate.

I´ll probably stick with my pawn and when it gets too hard i´ll recruit more pawns.

Do you remember where or when i can change vocations?
I would like to do a mix of melee and magic but so far i havent had the option.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Sorry, can't remember clearly but seem to remember being able to switch whenever I wanted. Think it might have been at the npc's you learn skills from. Can't remember whether it was story progression dependent or not.

message 144: by [deleted user] (new)

Morning all. I managed to finish Mass Effect on insanity difficulty. I was only going to make a bit of progress on Ilos but I kept thinking I'll just do the next bit and next the bit and it was all going OK. The bit I was really dreading only took two attempts. In fact the only real scare came when my PS3 froze half way through the Saren fight at the end. Thankfully after restarting I was able to jump back in and kick his abs and as final battles go he's an easy fight.

All I need to do now is rack up the x number of kills with the assault rifle, sniper rifle and shotgun and then start an adept character and knock out the required uses of warp, throw, lift etc. Looking forward to playing again as an adept.

Glassmoon - The Benny Hill of Plats | 779 comments Mod
Hi everyone

Got lost last night in a forest called Witchwood in Dragon´s Dogma.
Spent a lot of time trying to find my way there and got really late so i had to call it a night.
Thankfully i managed to find a new path before turning off so i dont feel too miserable today. lol.
Yeah..im really enjoying the game.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I've made a start on the PS4 Planet Coaster as I seem to be still in the mood for that type of game. Getting through it pretty quickly, only started yesterday and have already done over half the parks and most of the miscellaneous trophies. Complete the career and the rest should pop, though there are plenty of lengthy parks still to do.

message 147: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't know how you do some of those dual plays on PS4 and PS5 one after the other. I think even if I loved a game I'd struggle with that.

Fair play though if you're enjoying it.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Planet Coaster is probably one of the meatier PS4 & PS5 double plats I've attempted, but knowing exactly what to do means the 2nd one generally takes a lot less time. Think half the time it's part I'm enjoying the game and it's part I can't be bothered thinking about what I'm in the mood for, so stick to what I've been doing.

message 149: by [deleted user] (new)

I am looking forward to playing Dirt 5 again although not sure I could have done it straight after. Will probably do WRC9 too if the authentic glitch is still working.

message 150: by Error (last edited Jun 29, 2021 07:07AM) (new)

Error | 408 comments Glass - Again, the game proper begins when you take the quest to travel to Gransys. There you change vocations, have a massive storage, find the blacksmith, etc. It's really the central hub for the campaign. If you are having that much fun just poking around the starting area you should really enjoy things once they start to pick up. Some of the scripted events are outstanding.

Also, experience is shared across your party, so you might level a bit quicker with a twosome. The game does get difficult, so I'd recommend a full party whenever you are following mainline quests.

I defeated Al Capone and became the king of Chicago to complete Empire of Sin. My favorite game in quite a while. Certainly not jank free, but I had an awesome time with it. 8.5/10
