Thanks Error.
I´ve been holding off that quest for a couple of days now. I think i´ve done all the available quests in the starting town and in the encampment.
I even helped a blonde seller who asked me to escort her to the encampment and convinced me to giver her 1k coins. lol
Im really having fun but i threw myself into that quest where i had to find Quina in Wichwood, which i did after fighing a ton of bandits and wolves.
I eventually found her but now im completly lost in the forest. I managed to destroy two talismans that were causing the fog but there´s still a huge part of the map that´s not cleared so im a bit lost. I have to progress until i find the witch so i hope i havent put myself in a situation to which im underpowered.

Morning all

Im loving Dragon´s Dogma so far.
I had to escort a traveling party to a city and what i thought was a simple and easy ride turned out to be an epic journey where we managed to arrive at the castle by the skin of our teeth. We did it by night which may turned things a bit more difficult but it also made the whole thing epic as hell.
There´s something really special about this game that i cant properly explain but i feel it.
Im level 15 at this moment and im starting to really care about my pawn, lovely Morganna. lol

Btw, i have yet another question about pawns.
Lets say i want to recruit one that costs 46 RC and i have 48 RC at this moment.
Will the pawn remain with me for the rest of the game until i dismiss it?
I dont want to recruit one, get used to it and then he goes away after i stop playing and lose my RC´s.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments They don't leave as far as I remember but the pawns you hire don't level up like your own, so you'll likely be the one kicking them out of the party, to keep them around the same level as you.

They dont level?
So if i hire a level 15 it will always be level 15?
That´s interesting. Makes kinda sense.
So they should be considered as a temporary help for a specific situation or if i want a full party at all times i have to keep changing them in order to have a balanced party.
I think i get it now.
Thanks.
( I really dont feel like working today. lol)

Error | 408 comments You really want to try out a variety of pawns. Maybe you're interested in being a ranger but don't know if you'll like their move set - try one out for a while! You'll see them in action and get a sense of how they play. You also might find a killer pawn who out performs their level and can be used quite a while.

That trip to Gransys is a little taste of what I was talking about with the scripted events in the game. Really happy you're having a great time. Almost makes me want to re-download the game myself.

Thanks for the tip.
Right now im a fighter but im waiting for a chance to change vocations cause i want to see if its possible to do a hibrid of bows, swords and a bit of magic.
I havent used any pawns other then my main one except when fighting the Hydra where i used Rook just to add to the numbers.

Just ordered the PSVR aim controller cause why not?

message 158: by [deleted user] (new)

A bit of a mixed bag re the July PS+ games.

I definitely won't buy A Plague Tale now for PS4 and will play the PS5 version when I get one.

COD Blops 4 has no campaign so not interest in that. Probably a good thing after the awful Blops 3 effort.

The WWE game doesn't have a plat trophy. Nuff said.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Just need to finish off one more rollercoaster in Planet Coaster before I get the PS4 ping as well. Though that last coaster was causing me more headaches than it did in the PS5 version for some reason.

I see Greedfall has got a free upgrade now. I was half getting into the PS4 version before I got distracted by something else but might give the PS5 version a go, not that I'm expecting a huge difference.

And I'll probably see what Doom Eternal upgraded looks like. I loved the Doom reboot but couldn't get into Eternal when I last tried.

Also weirdly tempted by Doki Doki Literature Club Plus....

Edit: Ping! Planet Coaster PS4

message 160: by [deleted user] (new)

Congrats Deck. How many is that now?

I chipped away on Mass Effect and my soldier play through for the weapon kills trophies last night. Assault rifles are done now so will concentrate on using my shotgun and sniper rifle now. It really isn't the same game using the soldier class with no tech or biotic abilities. You can still use your squad mates powers but it's not the same. Grinding out these kill trophies is taking longer than I thought it would.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Cheers. Up to 139 plats now.

Only 24 away now mate.

Time for me to get My Name is Mayo 2 cross buy I think ;)

Glassmoon - The Benny Hill of Plats | 779 comments Mod
I dont know how you guys can do it.
I platted Days Gone and it felt like a lifetime achievement. lol

message 164: by [deleted user] (new)

It just adds an extra something for me. Sometimes they can distract from the enjoyment of a game though but overall I'm glad they're a thing.

I've read an quick way to get these gun kills I need on ME. Will try it out and then start my final adept character for warp, throw etc.

Glassmoon - The Benny Hill of Plats | 779 comments Mod
I was watching a video on Alien Isolation and felt like asking this question:

Do you guys usually replay games?

Its something that its eating my mind for years now.
There´s a bunch of games that i have fond memories and i keep thinking about and that one day i´ll replay them.
Alien Isolation, Dying Light, GTA V etc etc. But i never do cause i have so many games in my backlog that it almost feel like i´ll be wasting 20 or 30 hrs that i could use to play sometihng i havent played before.
Do you guys feel the same or have no problem in replaying games at all?

message 166: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Well, I'm replaying Dark Souls 3 for about the 5th time now. Other than souls games, not really. If an upgrade/remaster is released I might replay a game I really liked before. I also replay retro classics on occasion.

message 167: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll replay games. I'll even rebuy games I once owned but traded in at some point to replay them.

I'm playing Mass Effect now and I first played it around this time last year.

I rebought Enslaved: Odyssey to the West about 6 months ago and replayed it. I first played it in 2010.

Trophies are my main motivation for replaying games but I'll sometimes do it just for fun.

And that's the shotgun kills done on ME. Sniper kills tonight.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I take it you aren't including remasters as replaying because I do that all the time. I used to replay games more and still do occasionally but yeah, most of the time these days I'd rather play something new. Doesn't matter if it turns out to be a steaming pile, generally I'd rather that than retread old ground......unless of course it's a remaster or has a shiny new PS5 coat of paint, amazing the difference a new set of trophies make ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I gave Doom Eternal PS5 a wee go at lunch and I must have aged badly over the past few months because it is waaay too high paced for me to deal with. It'll take a bit of getting used to

Glassmoon - The Benny Hill of Plats | 779 comments Mod
Yeah, i meant actually replaying games. Not remasters.
But dont you guys miss some experiences?
I have a list of maybe 15 games that i would love to revist them but i know i´ll probably never will.
Its stupid cause i know that, sometimes, the second time playing it is actually better.
One of these days i´ll use a couple of months to replay some old gems being Alien Isolation at the top.

@Error
I got my arse beaten last night in Dragon´s Dogma.
Im after a scroll that was stolen by thiefs to guy i met in the city.
But right before i finally change my vocation and went with the Mystic Knight. But after purchasing new armor and weapons i wasnt able to afford a magic shield which are the only one´s i can use now.
So i went to a thieves fortress where the scroll is and had to fight them all without a shiled.
Jesus...after almost died 6 or 7 times, when i finally killed all that were outside the fortress i was left with 30% of my health bar so i had to go back to the inn.
And i still dont have enough money to buy the damn shield. lol.

message 173: by [deleted user] (new)

I do have some new (new to me) games I want to play that I've bought and are in the backlog. But I'm not really feeling that itch to start any of them and have an urge to go back to Mass Effect instead. I think it was the remasters coming out made me want to go back.

There aren't that many games I want to buy new these days and there are big gaps in the games release schedule anyway to leave time to go back to old games.

message 174: by Phil, psn: p4tiny (last edited Jul 01, 2021 07:52AM) (new)

Phil, psn: p4tiny | 197 comments I don't replay games that much - most of the games I have are so long (AC Odyssey for example) that once I've completed a game I actually uninstall, delete the save and move on!

If there's a few doable trophies left for the plat then I might do a 'speed-run' to clear those up. The only real exception is the Mass Effect games - played ME1 twice, and ME2&3 both 5 or 6 times on the ps3, and on ps4 I've already played ME1 twice....I just like to play again with a different character and make all different choices.

message 175: by [deleted user] (new)

Weirdly, when I replay games I'll more often than not make the same choices as I did the first time. They felt right first time so feel I should do the same again.

Equinox80 wrote: "Weirdly, when I replay games I'll more often than not make the same choices as I did the first time. They felt right first time so feel I should do the same again."

I completely understand that.
The games i did replay i ended up doing pretty much exactly the same i did the first time.
I have my "imaginary character" that i always roleplay in any game so doing diferent choices just doesnt feel right.

message 177: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah that's it. I have to be true to the character I'm playing as. Glad that's not just me haha.

Equinox80 wrote: "Yeah that's it. I have to be true to the character I'm playing as. Glad that's not just me haha."

You´re not. lol
I played the first Deus EX 4 times and the second 3 times and i did everything exactly the same apart from a few tweaks.
Same as Mass Effec.
As for the Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim which played twice each...always the same Dark Elf who masters stealth, bow, Restoration, Destruction and that magic that used detect life.

message 179: by [deleted user] (new)

I must say I'm looking forward to playing as an adept with biotic powers on Mass Effect after 3 entire playthroughs as the same engineer character.

But I'll make all the same moral choices and mostly the same dialogue choices.

Error | 408 comments Wow, it seems getting deleted was the exact shot in the arm this forum needed. Activity around here is higher than I can remember at any point in the past few years! I dig it...

I also like to try out different builds when I do replay a game. I'm doing a bleed build with Dark Souls right now, which I don't think I've ever done. I also sometimes go against my default setting and role play as a real prick for a replay.

Glass - Mystic Knight is an awesome class with perhaps the coolest abilities in the whole game. That said, I really don't think it works out well early game. Best to wait until you have a killer upgraded shield for them. I would check out some class info online or watch a youtube video about it. Also, group synergy will go a long way towards making the difficult battles more manageable. Only way to get a good feel for that is to experiment. Try out those pawns! You can always dismiss them. I always found it fun to just randomly hire a cool looking characters I would see out on the road during my travels.

I´ll add one pawn tonight. Probably another mage as i really like how magic is handled in this game. It feels like its really powerfull.

Im stil a bit lost with the vocations though.
As a fighter i was at rank 4 or 5.
Now i changed to Mystic Knight and im at rank 1 for that vocation. Im still not sure what are the cons and pros of changing them. I thnk i get to keep my character level which is nice but the character stats progression changes with vocations, right?
So if a fighter raises x health and damage points each level and i change to a mage then i´ll probably get less health and damage per level but more magick pool and attack, correct?
Im probably not doing a good job at explaining my doubts. lol.
Im just not sure of the benefits to keep changing vocations.

message 182: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Ultimately you can get through the game doing whatever you want and are having fun with. The stats/build matter much more when you get to late game or take on Bitterblack Isle, which is where I actually had the most fun. Probably lost two months of my life there.

Honestly, my straightforward advice is to max out warrior/fighter in your first 50 levels to max your hp pool. Having a small life gauge will make your life much more difficult further down the road. You'll want to experiment with the assassin at some point too. The ability to climb around on monsters to attack weak points will make some fights considerably earlier.

If you play a few levels with random occupations, you aren't hurting anything really. It just doesn't give you much of an idea what the class is actually capable of.

Hi all. On holiday (just at home taking a break) this week but have started, well a good 4 missions into Doom Eternal. With the next gen patch. Decided on the 4K 60fps option. The ray tracing I can’t notice lol so thought I’d stick with the higher resolution. Anyway it’s a superb game. The graphics are amazing. Fast and furious combat and great level design. Lots of exploration and accessing secret areas. And it’s got some pretty decent platforming. Probably one of the best graphical games I’ve seen.

I think that was my problem with Doom Eternal when I tried it on PS4 - it becomes as much of a platformer as it is shooter. I know there was a bit of that in the reboot but it just seems to be more apparent in Eternal

Morning all. Got the sniper rifle kills done on Mass Effect last night.

I started another character, an adept to do all the biotic stuff. I'm about to become a spectre for the 5th time.

If I wasn't concerned about the state of my PS4 overheating, I'd seriously consider buying the ME Legendary Edition and doing it all over again. More to get to 2 & 3 as quick as possible but would be interesting to play 1 again, choose whatever class I want and not have to worry about the shooting being broken.

I watched a review on the Legendary Edition last night and was put off slightly when they said the DLC for 2 was fully integrated and can easily be started by accident too early. Presumably this is also the case for 3.

I kinda quite like the platforming as it’s a bit of a rest from the relentlessness of the combat - which I love - but nice to mix it up. Although the platforming can be a little tricky at times.

Suprinsignly its the game i´ve been having the most fun and the first i properly started playing after the initial VR excitemnt calmed down.
Its so so fun. Its like living a hollywood action movie.

Also, still enjoying Dragon´s Dogma.
I had a really hard fight with a troll inside an underground temple. Died once and the second time i was still having a really hard time but the trol, while trying to get rid of me, fell from the level we were on and died from the fall. Really strange but hey, i take what i get.

Saints & Sinners is amazing mate.
I only played a bit but its super immersive.
The first time i got attacked by a zombie i panicked and couldnt stick the knife in its head. So i acted by instinct and tried to grab the zombie head and it worked.

haha. I know what you mean.
I have Astro Bot, Persistence, Kona, , Blood & Truth, Skyrim, RE 7, Far Point, Roque One, Immortal legacy, Minecraft, Torn, Saints & Sinners, Doom, NMS and a couple more that im probably forgetting but i´ve only played 5 minutes of each.
Blood & Truth is the only game that i can say im actually playing.

I love VR. I truly do. What i think after 1 month is that it requires a lot of mental strenght to actually play a game. Jumping from one game to another is easy but commiting to one is harder.

I have my VR set up in my gaming room which i only go at the weekends.
When i do, its after having dinner, putting my kids to bed and all that.
I then smoke some skooma, listen to a bit of music and play my Fifa match.
By that time, im so tired (and sometihng else) that, althouht i really want to play a game like Saints & Sinners, i havent been able to actually do it. Its not just playing a game. Its actually go inside a grim world, with zombies that want to hurt me and handle the real experience, which, with the added skooma effect, can be a bit too much.
RE 7 is out of the question. NMS has to many mechanics, Skyrim is Skyrim, etc etc and i end up going to bed and play some Dragon´s Dogma or Maneater.
Blood & Truth was the first game i decided to give it a proper go and got completely hooked.
So far its my favourite VR game but its a lot because it doenst scare me.
I think i need to get more used to VR before playing more "tought" games.

Error | 408 comments So I played through Dead Space 2 over the course of 2 days. Wow, that game's cut scenes are sooo friggin' intense! The pacing and story were great. Nice puzzles break things up every once and awhile. Everything feels great to shoot and weapon selection actually has some strategy to it. Very much a better game than the original (for me). Basically the definitive action horror title. 9.5/10

PS - I jumped out of my seat on more than one occasion, but didn't have the high anxiety I remember playing the original Dead Space. I don't know if it was because the arenas for fighting were kind of telegraphed, or I've just become more desensitized in my old age.

Next on tap - Quantum Break. I have a lot of thoughts on this I will save for later on. I'm enjoying it a lot though, and what an incredibly ambitious project it is.
