Maggie Robinson (librariansdaughter77) | 1485 comments Hi Kat

CIA and spies don't qualify for military- correct? It would need to a recognized branch or specialized ops group attached to the branch for it to qualify?

Asking because I found a CIA series that good.

Correct, CIA etc. would not qualify for Army.

MountainKat | 31636 comments I am caught up with checking the SH thread and all the team threads. As a reminder, I try to always comment in some way to show I have checked your team threads. Sometimes it is a request for a correction (or two or three...) or a reply to someone's comment. Often though it is just a '✔️' or '😊' or any other emoji I am in the mood for. If I comment in any form, that means I have checked your books through that post and unless I requested corrections I have counted your books. It's possible I may have missed something, so if you want to make a correction after that, please repost. 😊

Laura | 1148 comments Here's hoping my question makes sense:

Can a prior book in a series be used to justify a further book in a series? For instance, I want to read Magical Seclusion. The only military tag it has is Police-Military-PI. They run a security firm, but are more like soldiers. But that isn't reflected in the precis or in tags. But book one in the series, Magical Intentions is about the same people, and is tagged Para-Protector-Military, as well as Military. Any chance that works?

I really hope so! I need this one for another challenge! :)

Sorry, but the book needs to qualify on its own. ☹️

On a side note, do you realize it’s actually a bit difficult to find all the letters of BLUE in the title or author’s name? That author was perfect for that task!

Loved that one too! Her Chicago Stars books are really good too and I still giggle at some of the lines when I think of them! First Lady and Ain't She Sweet? were really good as well. I need to figure out when I can squeeze in her newest one!

MountainKat | 31636 comments Roger - president of NBR United - wrote: "ok for Family Unit first kindle edition has no page count and is out of print. the two possible alternatives, the ebook of the first edition Family Unit and the second..."

Use the second edition Kindle as it is the earliest one with the page count - so 294.

I really don't care which edition you link to as long as you have the correct page count. (I'm going to check the editions page anyway, unless the linked one is marked as 1st edition.) Usually that would be the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, in this case it would be the earliest dated English language Kindle edition with a page count.

I added it, but for future reference if there is no page count on GR and Amazon has it, you can just link to the Amazon book page to verify page count.

MountainKat | 31636 comments Thanks Karen!

And what she said was correct, you can link to the Amazon page if there is no Kindle page count on GR. 😊 Though it is always nice to get the book updated.

I will be posting the qualifications for C soon and I always tend to be more strict before I finish writing those up. My initial thought on that would be no, that wouldn't work though.

message 136: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31636 comments Date 3 - C - Tasks: Breakdown of the qualifications for possible tasks for Date 3.

Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.

Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the page count and edition - say so (see above edition or something similar)! That saves us all some steps. But please double check your links!

You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.

C is for Cap - Read a book with some type of headwear on the cover.

To qualify for this task there needs to be headwear on the cover. Items that could otherwise be classified as an adornment or jewelry (tiaras, barrettes, hair pins, etc.) will not be allowed for this task. The headwear must be part of the cover art, not an add-on or publisher's logo. Silhouettes that are part of the cover art and obviously show headwear will be allowed. You can use any edition's cover to qualify. Please include the qualifying cover in your completion post.

C is for Castle - Read a book featuring royalty or a book that is MPG Historical Romance.

To qualify, the book needs to be either MPG (Main Page Genre) Historical Romance or feature royalty. Confirmation of royalty can come the title, precis, tags or lists. Please use the following definition for royalty for this task:
Royalty is defined as a member of a royal family. A royal family is the immediate family of kings/queens, emirs/emiras, or sultans/sultanas, and sometimes their extended family. This does not include nobility.

C is for City - Read a book with an urban setting.

To qualify for this task, the selected book needs to be set in a major city. The qualification can come from the book details (setting), title, precis, tags or lists. Please include in your completion posts the city your book is set in along with any necessary information with links as required.

C is for Colorado - Read a book set in Colorado or written by a Colorado author.

To qualify, the author of the selected book needs to be from or currently live in Colorado. Or, the title, series title, precis, book details, tags or list need to indicate the book is set in Colorado. The setting can be the state or a city in Colorado.

No, the headwear does not need to be worn, but it has to be part of the cover art. Your example would work.
