Well now I feel bad that I never mention if a character has diabetes in my reviews. I did a search and not one mentions diabetes or insulin. While I like the spirit behind the prompt I think it would be a tough one to research. I seem to remember The Andromeda Strain had something to do with it (but I wouldn't recommend it) and I'm sure Kelley Armstrong's Rockton series had a book where they needed to get insulin for someone, but it's pretty hard to find evidence by googling.
I'd be OK reading a medical memoir as a loosely related book but I know lots of people don't like them.

How about a book written by or about a doctor?

I love how thoroughly you've laid this out! I love the connection to Twenty Two, even though I honestly know nothing about the Twilight and have never seen the show. Because it could be interpreted in so many different ways, I think it could be fun.

I wasn't sure about this - until I read about the episode on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twenty_...
Short version: "Twenty Two" is the title of episode 53. The title comes from the room number of the morgue.
I originally thought you just really liked episode 22, and then I thought why not episode 22 of any show...but I get it now, and I like it - and if it makes it onto the list I will find a book specifically related to this particular episode!
I like how in the picture on the Wiki page, the heroine in her hospital bed is perfectly made up and coiffed! I don't remember this particular episode but you're right that there are a lot of possibilities. You might have to include the link to the description, as we have people who have never watched Twilight Zone or live in countries where it wasn't shown.

And great idea, I'll add the wikipedia link that Kelly shared whenever I get around to suggesting it in the polls! And yes, she does look glamorous in her hospital bed!!
And here's just a short spoiler-free summary: A professional dancer who is hospitalized for fatigue begins to have highly realistic, recurring nightmares about a frightening nurse in the hospital morgue, Room 22.
Edit: and just one last possibility I just thought of for this prompt: A book related to any of the countless actors that starred in an episode: Burt Reynolds, Robert Redford, Carol Burnett, Robert Duvall, Cloris Leachman, Charles Bronson, etc. A fun twist would be to read something related to Star Trek since William Shatner, George Takei, and Leonard Nimoy all starred, separately, in Twilight Zone episodes!

I'd prefer this wording: A book related to the title of a song from an animated Disney or Pixar movie

Or, you can wait until a later poll that will be open when you’re available, if you’d like to suggest it yourself.
Robin reminded us of this a day or two ago: “Remember the voting process happens over many weeks, so you don't have to submit all your ideas the first week. And if you submit one that isn't chosen, if it isn't eliminated as a bottom choice, you can submit it again, in the same or a different form.”

Sorry, I don't get this one, is this a quote/meme I should know?

I really like this suggestion so I suggested it for you.

I got The Circle of Life, that would be a great one for a prompt!"
OOOOoooohh but "tale as old as time" is the first lyric so you could totally read a classic for it or a book about history. :)

If a prompt is suggested as a multi-week, and ends up in the bottom, could it be suggested again as a single week?

Yes, a prompt would have to be changed substantially to go from multi-week to single week so we would allow it.

But it would ahve to be adapted to be one book right?
Yes, we only allow multi-week prompts in the poll that is dedicated to them. All other polls must have single-book prompts only.

I really like your "22" prompt (even in its original form and I've never seen the episode, but a quick google search and voila a synopsis). I would totally vote for it! :)

Thanks Sarah!! C: It doesn't seem to be one of the more popular ones in the current poll, but I love so many of the ones that have been suggested that I can't complain. Can't wait for voting to begin tomorrow!!

I want to throw out a suggestion idea for some feedback! The first thing I think of when I hear 22 is the Taylor Swift song, obviously, so I was thinking about a prompt related to that. For example, In honour of her song '22', read a book related to a Taylor Swift song or album. I have a few examples below but I didn't know if it'd feel too much like a freebie? I know lots of people don't enjoy those kinds of prompts where other people do. I could limit it to just albulm titles or song title if it's too broad?
Some examples:
Folklore - Read a book that features folklore or mythology
Welcome to New York or Coney Island - Read a book set in Coney Island or New York
Dancing WIth Our Hands Ties - Read a book featuring dance or dancers
Superman - Read a book featuring superhero
Clean - Read a book about addiction recovery
Red - Read a book a red cover or will make you 'see red' (get angry)
Out of the Woods - Read a book featuring the woods
New Year's Day - Read a book set during New Years
Never Grow Up - Read a Peter Pan retelling
Love Story - Read a Romeo & Juliet retelling
London Boy - Read a book set in London or written by a male English author
This Love, The Way I Loved You or You Are in Love - Read a romance
Willow - Read a book with a tree on the cover
White Horse - Read a book featuring horses or with a white cover
Cowboy Like Me - Read a western or a book featuring a cowboy
Beautiful Ghosts - Read a paranormal or supernatural book featuring ghosts
Cardigan - Read a book featuring a librarian
August - Read a book published in August
Better Than Revenge - Read a revenge story
Today Was a Fairytale - Read a fairytale retelling
Teardrops on My Guitar - Read a sad book

I was afraid someone was going to suggest this lol. I’m notorious among my friends/family and former students for being “triggered” by her music. Nothing against her personally. But it all started with the horrible “you were Romeo, I was the scarlet letter” metaphor that sent my English teacher ears into traction!
I will 100% vote for a Taylor Swift prompt, absolutely. And I’d probably use something off of folklore/evermore since there are so many stories on those albums so I appreciate it being left open.

I know this was tried, unsuccessfully last year, but what about "a prompt related to the 2022 Chinese Zodiac Year of the Water Tiger"
This can include books:
- related to cats (my beautiful Bella's picture is below)
- related to water
- water or tiger on the cover
- related to China or Chinese author
- book published in a Tiger year: 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022
- related to personality/characteristics of water tigers: sedate, calm, curious, quick learner, gentle and mild
- authors born in the Year of the Tiger (Beatrix Potter, Agatha Christie, Oscar Wilde, John Steinbeck, Harper Lee)
- other famous people born in the Year of the Tiger or your resident Goodreads' friend, me =)

I am fine with it but although I do know who Taylor Swift is, you can see how out of touch I am with popular culture when I say that I have never heard of any of those songs. The prompt is still good, since there are so many options.

I think this is a great prompt idea. There are tons of interpretations, so it’s one that could easily be adapted for BIO/KIS options. I would vote for it.

I like this idea. Because I like prompts to be a bit specific, I'd like to see it be just about the song "22." It's a song about friends, so any book about friendship would work. I'm not sure if I would vote for a more open-ended prompt.

I would vote for anything cat/kitten related. I lost both of my fur babies this year - two weeks apart, one 14, the other 18.
This year I find quite a few books are dog related, so next year can be cat related 🐈

At least you know your two babies are together! ♥♥

Your Bella looks just like my Tigger, although Tigger is fatter, lots of him to love :)
I would definitely vote for this prompt.

I would just go with "a book related to the year of the tiger" if you want all those other years to count. Not every tiger year is a water tiger. 2010 was a gold tiger for instance. So I personally would not count a book published in 2010 to be related to the water tiger.
Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I'll definitely nominate it in the next round then (or if it's not during my timezone, feel free to nominate it for me).

I was originally going to go for a specific '22'-related prompt but I didn't know if it'd be too limiting for most people. The lyrics don't inspire too many interpretations for those with limited tbr. Maybe if it gets through, there could be the BIO option to keep it related to '22' but with the current wording, it'll leave it open for everyone else as well?

Good point! I wanted to give people the option of using water, if they aren't as excited by felines. But I guess "a prompt related to the 2022 Chinese Zodiac Year of the Tiger" could still incorporate that since 2022 is the Water Tiger?

Your cat really is a bundle of joy!!
I would totally upvote this prompt! But I don't think the "related to China or Chinese author" necessarily fits with the prompt because every year is a Chinese zodiac year (2021 is the Chinese year of the Ox, 2022 is the Chinese year of the Tiger, etc). By that logic, if this prompt made the list every year for a different animal, then you'd be able to read a Chinese book every year without it being related to that specific celebrated animal. It's kind of like if the summer challenge said "read an author from a western country" to celebrate July, the signs of Cancer and Leo, just because it's from Western astrology.
(And to be nit-picky, the Chinese zodiac is actually very prominently embedded in the culture of many other countries all around Asia, to the point where they consider it their own and not Chinese. I think that's why people now prefer "Lunar New Year" to "Chinese New Year". E.g. when Koreans celebrate Lunar New Year as a traditional Korean holiday, they're not celebrating a Chinese holiday or following any Chinese customs)
